Journal Page {with JoFY and Ink and Dog Stamps by Rachel Black}

"Hi, My name is Rachel and I am a mixed media artist living in the UK.   I'm inspired to create mostly by the things around me, sometimes it might be a picture in a magazine, or the colours on a piece of fabric etc.  Other times, being outside and simply observing the colours and forms of nature can be very inspirational.  I have always had a passion for art and anything creative, and so I have experimented with many different types art and crafts over the years.  My current passion is art journaling and painted canvas, though I also enjoy altered art and coloured pencil sketches"

Step One.  Here is how the page looks after painting the background with Fresco Finish Paints, Zesty Zing, Beach hut, Eggplant and Inky Pool. I then stamped over it with the first background stamp, Petals Plate 3 in Archival Deep Purple ink.

 Petals Plate 3

Step Two: The background is now complete after being stamped with a second text stamp, Petals Plate 1, in purple, aswell as a flower stamp from JoFY 13, in Brilliance Galaxy Gold.  You could also stamp these flowers using Old Gold Fresco paint.

Petals Plate 1,

Step Three: Here I am starting to add some collage elements to the page.  The circles are die cuts that have been painted with Zesty Zing and then stamped with a text stamp from Petals Plate 1,  in Archival Magenta.

Picture 4: Next I used the flowers  from JoFY 22, they have been stamped out in several different sizes using black archival ink. The next step is to add some colour to them and cut them ready to use on the page. It is easy to create your own glazes by mixing Fresco paint with either mattesatin or gloss glaze, or even pearl or metallic glaze  depending on the amount of shine that you wish to achieve.

JoFY 22,

Step five:  Attaching stamped borders to the page using matte gel medium.  The border stamp is from JoFY 13.  and is stamped onto smooth card using black archival ink.

JoFY 13.

Step Six:  Adding colour to the stamped text. I stamped out text from 2 different plates, the large alphabet is from JoFY 21  and the smaller alphabet is from Words Plate 2. I started with a layer of Zesty Zing, before the addition of coloured glazes to the centre of the  larger letters. Finally I outlined my letter with a Micron pen for definition.
