Hey gang. Seth Apter in the house. Or should I say dans la Maison. It is new release time and this one is extra, extra special. Why extra, extra? Well there are two reasons. First off, I am releasing paint. And stamps. And...get ready for it...an apron. Secondly, the designs in this release were initially created for my recent week-long retreat at the PaperArtsy headquarters in France. It doesn't get better than that. So let's get right to it...
Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic Paints
Price: RRP €5.26 +VAT Size:50ml (1.7 fl oz)
Matte, chalk paints suited to all surfaces. Quick dry, mix of coverage opacity (see the chevron on the bottle). Over 200 colours available across the PaperArtsy range. UV resistant, water based, indoor-outdoor, non-toxic, low VOC chalk paint. Our paint chemists have over 120 years experience between them, and are distinguished for their inimitable quality.
Before this release, my paint collection with PaperArtsy included 36 colors. For this new grouping, I wanted to add paints that further expanded the color line and I think these four paints hit the mark. I am calling this collection Heritage and it brings a strong sense of history and tradition to my range - exactly what was evident in my travels to France.
These colors are all opaque. You can almost think of them as tinted gesso. The colors are rich, strong, and all have a lot of depth. Perfect for the early layers of a mixed media work when you need to ground the background. Also good for later layers when you need a fully opaque paint to switch gears or adjust an imperfection.
Castleton is a deep, forest green with a cool tone and an earthy undertone. It combines beautifully with the other colors in this release but also with many of my other paints, including Gold Rush, Butter, Hint of Mint, and Desert Bush.
Pumice is the neutral that I didn't know I needed. On the first test I realized that this was a winner. It has a grey undertone and is the perfect contrast to the other three darker colors in this grouping. Plus, it gives Heavy Cream a run for its money as my favorite light neutral to use to pull a print from the Gel Plate.
Admiral is a rich, commanding (pun intended) blue. It is deep and dark and will serve as a beautiful base to build over. Some of my favorite paints to use with this color are Stardust, Pixie Dust, Spanish Mulberry, Mud Splat, Venice Blue, Steel Grey, and Agave. In other words...many.
Kiln is a rich burgundy that is made more complex by undertones of purple and pink. Almost sounds like a wine. It leans cool and not only works well with the other colors in this release but also with Gold Rush, Glacier Ice, Pixie Dust, Tundra, Venice Blue, Double Denim, Blue Bayou, and Niagara Falls.
Red Rubber Stamps (A5 set)

Size:5" x 6" (13 x16.5cm)
All stamps are individually trimmed onto cling foam, with a laminated storage/index sheet.
The three new stamp sets were all developed for my retreat in France.
That inspiration led me to a place somewhat different from where I usually go with my designs.
Two of the three sets are a blend of:
1) vintage imagery from French ephemera that I "mixed-mediafied" and
2) some favorite quotes, which were also designed with a bit of a twist.
The third set is filled with vintage French labels that I made from scratch.
The stamps were used to make two projects that I am sharing here: one being the sample I created during the PaperArtsy retreat and the other being my version of an inspiration deck.
Stamp Code ESA46 (ESA46)
The grunged-up, vintage imagery stamps were used to add detail and authenticity to the very many paper sheets used in the retreat project.
The quotes from the same set were the perfect addition to my inspiration deck. And worked very well over the backgrounds painted with my new paint colors - each of which on their own create a rich and strong layer to work over.
Stamp Code ESA47 (ESA47)
Set ESA 47 gives you more options, whether you are looking for meaningful quotes or grungy vintage flavor. Or both.
Stamp Code ESA48 (ESA48)
Set ESA48 stands on its own, with vintage-looking labels created with French text. Most can be easily translated just with a glance and a quick search on the Internet will translate the others.
These are perfect for travel journals and planners - no matter the destination. But what I especially love about this set is that the phrases can be masked off, giving you the option of 9 blank frames that can be filled with anything!
The bonus of this release is an apron - a high quality, heavy canvas apron complete with pockets. The perfect thing to wear when you create at home or at a workshop. It includes a collage of images from my many PaperArtsy stamps along with splatters of color. No blank-page-syndrome here. You can get it painty and inky right away and it will just look better and better.
I hope you have been inspired by this new release and can imagine all different ways that you might use the stamps and the paint. And the apron!
