NEW PaperArtsy Products: Seth Apter {Jan 2026}

A note from Leandra

Nothing like a bit of grunge from Seth Apter to get your muse up and running, but wow, just look at how he has mixed it up across these samples for this release, absolutely stunning.
A touch of pinky purple emerges with some watery blues and the transparent floral rub-ons softens the whole vibe - its saying hello spring to me! However, don't miss a deep dive into the caramel-toffee with red splashes because that offers another 'style' of Seth. This versatility of his designs are what allow you to go in so many directions.

Seth will be along to share with you LIVE his new products and ideas over in our Facebook Group, 'PaperArtsy People' shortly after this post publishes.

These stamps are available EXCLUSIVELY from our approved stockists. Please check the list at the foot of this post to find a retailer online or geographically near you, it makes sense to order within your country where possible. Our retailers also endeavour to join the designer's live to share their direct shopping links - this makes it super easy for you to find a store with product in stock immediately.

Hi all. Seth here with you

Exciting times at PaperArtsy with new releases this week. I am bringing you three, hot off the presses (literally), stamp sets. I traveled a different path for my last stamps sets, which were created with my French retreat in mind. This time, the designs are classic Seth. You know the recipe --- a cup of grungy, a tablespoon of abstract, a pound of mark making, a sprinkling of words, a liter of circles, two dashes of linear, and a few surprises. I also made sure that all the designs in all three of the sets could work together. In any combination. I hope you love them...

I'd like to introduce you to my january 2026 release .......

Eclectica Seth Apter Set 49 (ESA49)

DISCOVER CURIOSITIES

As many of you know, I am from NYC and my designs are often inspired by the vibe and energy of city life. But you might also know that I love nature and sometimes bring that to my work as well, as can be seen in this piece I call Discover Curiosities.

My art often leans into warm, earthy tones. And this stamp design in ESA 49 -- could be a leaf, could be a tree, those could be roots -- brings a softer tone to this artwork. I used it twice as the element also serves as a border or frame to all the details on the surface.

The gaps and spaces within this design of course reflect the natural randomness of nature but they also serve to add a bit of grunge. I just couldn't resist.

Much of my work includes words as I love them for both the meaning and the design components. For this release, I designed a series of words as if they have been hand carved into an eraser at home.

LOOK WITHIN

This piece leans into my nature vibe as well but also highlights my love of words and phrases.

In addition to the plant in the lower left corner, the phrase LOOK WITHIN from ESA 49 serves as the focal point. And the random, concentric circles around the letters really pull you in.

This simple line of squiggles has quickly become a favorite as it can be used in so many ways - as a border, a frame, an underline, a background detail, and more.

INSPIRE

ESA 49 has seven stamps -- and many of my favorites from this release. In here you will find backgrounds and abstract focal designs, some city and edge and a bit of nature, words and phrases, and lots more.

I love using stamps in my work in as many ways as possible. In this piece, the bold color highlights the line stamp from this set, which serves as the backdrop for the plus stamp - rendered here in dark tones for more contrast. The choices for these layers really draw in the eye.

As mentioned above, all the designs in all the sets are interchangeable. So for this piece I added the word INSPIRE from ESA 50.

Eclectica Seth Apter Set 50 (ES50)

MAGICAL THINKING

All the sets have both bold, linear elements along with softer, curvy designs. And the curves are very evident in Set ESA 50.

The stamp used in the upper left hand corner really adds a softer dimension to this piece. The words, pulled from an antique French document, are curvy script. A bold and wonky series of overlapping concentric circles are overlayed. And a more subtle circle is evident (if you look closely) from the original postmark from the document.

And once again, words...and circles... play a big role in both Set ESA 50 and this artwork. This is echoed with other words scattered in the background.

OBSERVE

I want to see how observant you are. Before you keep reading, how many of the stamp designs from Set ESA 50 - and the others - do you see in this piece?

I spy six designs -- four from ESA 50 and one each from the other two sets. Perhaps the most obvious is the concentric circle stamp, here used in multiple and placed in such a way that your eyes is guided across the surface. I think this stamp lends itself to a lot of creative uses.

The wonky line stamp, shown horizontally on the cover sheet, was turned and stamped vertically as a background at the base of this piece. Stamps from each of the other two sets were then layered over.

The scratchy, messy background stamp lies below the word INSPIRE to add detail, interest, depth, and a bit of mark making.

Eclectica Seth Apter Set 51 (ESA51)

EXHIBIT 7

The only thing I love more than a swatch stamp is a swatch stamp with a twist and ESA 51 includes that as much of the swatching space is filled in and darkened.

Here they are left blank so that the background show though but in the piece right above this - Observe - your can see the cool effect when color is added.

This piece also highlight the simplest of stamps - a plus sign in the center of a circle - which is used here almost like a postmark.

MAKE MEMORIES

Being a More is More person, most of my pieces include many of the stamps from the new sets - and others too. For Make Memories I went with a single stamp.

I designed this stamp to reflect the fact that the journey we usually take so that we can make memories is often bumpy, uneven, and not always smooth.

The focus on the words is echoed in all the other letters and text scatter about. And once again, the nature feel is evident here as well.

BELIEVE

Like the piece above, BELIEVE uses a single stamp from set ESA 51. And with that title, it is easy to guess which one.

There are a lot of details in this piece and I think your eyes are likely first drawn to the large and dark line of numbers. But in the end, I think it is the word that brings the feeling to this piece. And I do believe the feel of hand carving here makes it even better.

MEMORY

Memory could have been shared as part of either ESA 49 or ESA 51. Each contributes a single stamp.

The stamp from ESA 51 - my Enso design - serves here as a symbolic frame, provides a sense of movement, and invites you to look inside. The text stamp from ESA 49 also pulls you into the art as you try to read the words. But I think it is fun when the words are not legible, in another language, or are too distressed to read and that was my thought behind this design. For this reason I designed this large text stamp for ESA 49.

I think this is also a good example of the importance of using these stamps in a way that makes them your own. In my mind, by layering these two stamps, I have created what could have been a separate stamp in the set. In orders words...do it your way and not mine.

I hope as you went through this post these stamps serve as inspiration for you and that you are overflowing with ideas of how these -- and all of your stamps -- could be used. It is all about play and boy did I have fun making these samples.

As always, sending my endless thanks to the PaperArtsy crew for giving both myself and all of you the opportunity to use these stamps. Cannot wait to see what you do!
