NEW PaperArtsy Products: August 2019 {Kay Carley}

 Eclectica³ Collection {Kay Carley}
August 2019 New Product Announcement

A note from Leandra:
Kay brings you beautiful blooms that layer with the co-ordinating stencils perfectly. Here, a little forward planning allows you to bring blooms to life with stunning 3D details if you add delicate layers with the stencils, and stamp the image over top. Very satisfying!

Hi everyone, Kay here. I am very excited to share with you my newest release for PaperArtsy which this time around consists of 4 stamps with coordinating stencils.

For this release I have gone 'large' with my designs so that they can easily be used to create artwork on bigger canvases, greyboard, tote bags, journals etc.... You will see from one of my projects (near the end of the post) how easy it is to create artwork on a 12"x12" scale. Having beautiful bold flowers in this release doesn't mean that elements from earlier releases can't be used with them either as many of my earlier stamps will look great  stamped around these larger, bolder designs so do mix and match. Although I envisaged being able to create artwork on a larger scale you can still use these stamps to create cards too. My samples below have all been made on either 6"x6" or A5 card blanks so carmakers can still have fun with them.

I know that many of you have benefited from using matching stencils (from previous releases) to add colour to corresponding stamp designs so hopefully you will love the fact that three of these stamp sets have corresponding stencils to enable you to do just that.
Today and tomorrow you will see ideas with these stamps from myself and another of the Team PA Bloggers. You can also see plenty of activity on PaperArtsy's Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest. (Links at the foot of this post.) So no matter what your preferred social media platform, we will be sharing with you!

Let's check out these new beauties with an idea or two for each stamp set and a couple of projects.

  New Stamps
Price: RRP £18.74 +VAT
Size:5" x 6" (13 x16.5cm)
All stamps are individually trimmed onto cling foam, presented in a clear hanging bag
with a laminated storage/index sheet.

Eclectica³ Kay Carley Set 27 (EKC27)

This shows how the stamp set and corresponding stencil can work seamlessly together. The background leaves have all been created using the stencil and the foreground leaves are created using both the stamp and stencil version.

Eclectica³ Kay Carley Set 28 (EKC28)

Here I've used the matching stencil to add soft, background imagery. Having matching stencils makes it really easy to add depth to a composition if you want to but of course the stamped wisteria would look equally nice just on it's own. You might notice that I link the trailing stamped tendrils to make longer tendrils when I need them. (NB. If you turn the wisteria stamps up the other way they can double up as big lupins!)

Eclectica³ Kay Carley Set 29 (EKC29)

What I love about the lilac blooms is that they can be stamped anyway up - here I have got them flopping down from the top of the card but of course they look great the right way up too!

Eclectica³ Kay Carley Set 30 (EKC30)

This is another stamp which can be used either as a trailing type of flower or if you stamp them up the other way and add a thicker, taller stem they can take on the appearance of a hollyhock type of flower. For this sample I painted them to resemble trailing roses.

New Stencils
Mini Size: 3.5" x 3.75" (9 x 9.5cm) Price: RRP £2.50 + VAT
Regular Size: 6.5" x 7" (16 x 18cm) Price: RRP £4.60 + VAT
Large Size: 6.25" x 9.5" (16 x 24cm) Price: RRP £5.40 +VAT

PaperArtsy Stencil 150 (PS150)

This stencil was designed to perfectly match the stamps from EKC27 but I created this panel to show you can have fun creating a card just from this stencil alone. I have outlined the lilac flower with a white gel pen but of course you could use a black pen to add some doodled detail. You can also add different colours into each of the flowers or you could raise some of the imagery using Grunge Paste etc.... There is just so much that you can do with this stencil on its own!

This picture shows how the stencil works with the corresponding stamp set. Both the flower heads and the leaves match their stamped counterparts perfectly.

PaperArtsy Stencil 151 (PS151)

I have cheated a bit here with this sample as I have included the leaf stencil as a backdrop to my stencilled wisteria flowers. Stencilling two different colours onto each of the petals really starts to add dimension to the flowers. You can use your stencil as a 'base image' and add doodles over the top to create some interest.

(Once again the larger two images on the stencil perfectly match the wisteria stamps. The third stencil image is a bonus!)

PaperArtsy Stencil 152 (PS152)

This sample has been created to show again how you can use this stencil just on it's own. Having all the elements separated allows you to create so many different compositions very easily.

The picture above shows how perfectly the stencil flowers match the stamp design. This allows you to add a base colour into these flowers very quickly. If you then want to stamp the detail back into the flowers make sure you do all this within a stamping platform.

PaperArtsy Stencil 153 (PS153)

This stencil was really created to form a backdrop to both the wisteria and the trailing flowers stamp sets but it looks great in its own right too. Here I have simply stencilled layers of the leaves choosing a different paint colour for each layer. For the top layer think about maybe adding some shading or doodles with a black or white pen.

These pictures show how to get more out of your stencil by picking and choosing a leaf stem and then angling the stencil before applying two shades of green paint. This is something that is very easy to do but looks effective.

Project One: Hydrangea Tags

Just recently I have been experimenting with using alcohol inks with the Fresco paint and I have been really pleased with the effects that I have been getting with them.

This tag was my Make & Take just recently at Stevenage. We applied a base colour of Fresco before applying our alcohol inks.

I absolutely love how pretty it starts to look when adding a 'blurred/smudgy' stencilled image over the top. Sometimes you don't always want a clean crisp stencilled image!

Adding stamping starts to bring the tag together.

To finish I lightly painted the stamped flowers with fresco paints, picked to match the colour of the alcohol inks. White and black pen work just finish it off.

Even though these were created using the same colours of alcohol ink and Fresco paints it is amazing how different each one turns out! I am really liking the effect of combining these two mediums though and plan on doing it a lot more!

Project Two: Wisteria

This is the sort of project that I had in mind when designing these stamps - being able to effortlessly create larger pieces of artwork.

I used three of my new stencils along with the wisteria stamp set for this 3D picture.

Cutting out some of the wisteria flowers and gluing them into position really helps to add dimension to this picture. I did try not to have any raised flowers but I just wasn't satisfied with the end result. For me they are the 'icing on the cake'!!

This shows the artwork in its entirety. I am really looking forward to putting it into a deep box frame to finish it off.

I really hope that you like this new release and that the above ideas will help you to create your own beautiful works of art with them. If you do, please do tag me as I love to see how others use my products.

Love Kay xx
