~ Leandra

Hi everyone! Raquel here from Scrapcosy. I’m so happy to be in the blog tonight, announcing my second stamp and stencil release with PaperArtsy!

I love flowers and specially, I love roses and butterflies and these combined with a nice lettering seemed to me the perfect match for ESC04 (or Vintage Roses, as I call it) which has become my favourite set in the release. I also love walking in the forest and seeing all the things that it can offer me, specially in Autumn, so with ESC05 I decided to go for a season themed stamp set that would contain all the things I enjoy finding and admiring in the forest, like mushrooms, leaves, different fruits and snails, which I find so cute! Finally, for ESC06 and continuing with the season stamps, I went for a Halloween themed one, a bit creepy I know... but can you imagine cutting out the skeleton and positioning it in different shapes? I do!

But today I’ll just use the first 2 sets and I'll show you the project that I’ve made with them. It is an album to keep my 6 stamps and 6 stencils stored.

The following couple of nights you will see the beautiful projects that the great artists and bloggers Jennie Atkinson and Alison Bomber have prepared at their end. I’m sure you’ll love them! I’m so lucky to have them on board for this release! They will really inspire you, so come back tomorrow and the day after!

'Vintage Binder'  by Raquel

After my first release in February 2017, I wanted to create something special to keep my stamps and stencils in place. I initially thought of creating a nice decorated box but I kept on postponing the project. When I had to think about a project for this release, I wanted to do something useful and nice, so my first idea was creating the covers of an Art Journal, so I started thinking about how to bind it, if I would add pockets, etc. when suddenly I thought "OK, instead of pieces of art, I could actually store my stamps and stencils" so I changed my mind and I created a binder from scratch so it would fit all my collections so far in the year.

For the cover I wanted a title and I wanted a scenery, so I thought that ESC05 and PS065 could be a good choice. I decided to use one of my favourite techniques which is colouring stamped images with infusions and glaze (repeated in all the project) along with another favourite technique of mine which is applying Grunge Paste through stencil (I just LOVE Grunge Paste). And as in many of my projects, the metal is a must for me, I find it charming and it just fits vintage style so well so I added some details... And among them, I finally found the right project for that metallic mushroom, I was so happy to fit it in!

When I curated ESC05 I decided to add small images that I knew I would be using for backgrounds. Actually the first thing from this project that I knew I would be creating was its interior. I was craving to create and paint that background (it took a while as you will see in the video below, but I really enjoyed it):

Once filled, the binder looks like this, and it fits 6 stencils in the pocket and 6 stamps in the rings. I thought that the rings would be loose, but I don't know, it seems I picked the right dimensions of grey board thickness and rings and the right double hole separation so they just stay in place without moving AT ALL! Sometimes you get the lucky pot :) If you want to know the dimensions to create it yourself, just go to my blog (I don't want to bore you with these here)

For the back I decided to go and use ESC04. When I saw image with the roses I knew I would use them in all positions to decorate corners, so I went ahead and turn my idea into a reality. And the quote, well, I just had a brief moment of inspiration, the sentence came out of the blue and it took its own shape, I just had to help it to come to life:

If you want to see how I decorated the binder end to end, just grab some popcorn or a cup of tea, click play and enjoy:

Make sure to come back to PaperArtsy blog tomorrow night and the day after for more inspiring projects from Jennie Atkinson and Alison Bomber. I’ve seen part of their projects and they are just beautiful. I’m sure you will have plenty of inspiration to create beautiful things yourself with these collections.
