NEW PaperArtsy Stamps: September 2019 {Alison Bomber}

 Eclectica³ Collection {Alison Bomber}
September 2019 New Product Announcement

A note from Leandra:
A gorgeous series of 3 new stamp sets from Alison, with uplifting quotes relating to Travel, Sunshine and Happiness. She has created samples from each in such pretty colour palettes, sneaking in a few new paints for you to ponder too!

Hi everyone, Alison here from Words & Pictures and I'm thrilled to be back with some new word stamps.

I wanted to find quotes and thoughts which would be positive and uplifting, without ignoring the fact that life has its rough patches.  Sometimes, finding your sadness or your problems shared and understood in a poetic phrase can be as helpful as a "chin up, it may never happen" approach!

So that's what you'll find in these three new stamp sets.  There's Travel & Journeys - celebrating the paths we all want to follow for growth and change, or sometimes just for escape.  There's Sunshine & Rain - full of ideas about how we can enjoy and endure every kind of weather in our lives.  And then there's some full-on joy with The Happiness Edition.

Today and tomorrow you will see projects using these stamps from me and from another of the Team PA Bloggers, Jennie Atkinson. You can also see plenty of activity on PaperArtsy's Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest. (links at the foot of this post).  So no matter what your preferred social media platform, we will be sharing with you!

Let's check out these new words, thoughts and quotes, with some ideas and projects from each set.  I've also been playing with some of the newer Fresco paints, so there's lots more colour than you're probably used to from me!

As usual, I've got a LOT of samples, so I'm going to try to keep things as simple as possible here at PaperArtsy, as there's so much excitement with all the launches this week.  But there will be follow up posts with more details over at Words and Pictures over the next couple of weeks.

Eclectica³ Alison Bomber Set 12 (EAB12)

So here's the first collection, inspired by the EAB12 Travel & Journeys quotes and a palette of the colour families around the new Summer Sky, Aquamarine and Forget-me-not paints.  If you carry on down the post, you'll find some close-ups to enjoy.  I wasn't sure at first - that's a lot of colour for me! - but as I played, I ended up loving how the dreamy colours suit the visionary words.

Eclectica³ Alison Bomber Set 13 (EAB13)

Here's the second collection, inspired by the words from EAB13 Sunshine & Rain.  Again, further down the post you'll find some close-ups so you can read the quotes in full and be inspired.  This time the colours almost chose themselves.  The colour families around Summer Sky and Forget-me-not were perfect for the rainy element, and I had to have some sunshine, so that's provided by Cheesecake and Haystack.

Eclectica³ Alison Bomber Set 14 (EAB14)

And here are my samples for EAB14 The Happiness Edition.  For this collection I simply chose colours which make me happy.  The Summer Sky blues, the Cheesecake yellows and the Aquamarine turquoises are all back in play, this time alongside some gorgeous Lawn greens.  Your happy colours may be different from mine... the joy of these words is that they will work with any rainbow you want to choose!

Eclectica³ Alison Bomber Set 12 (EAB12) Travel & Journeys

Project One: A Stowaway Heart

As most of you will know, or might guess from my stamp collections or the name of my blog, one of my favourite things is combining words and pictures.  And this was the easiest choice of all this time around... Scrapcosy's wonderful sailing ships in the bay from ESC11 could have been meant for this quote.

One of my favourite things about having these words as stamps is that I can use embossing powder with them.  It gives such a special finish to a tag or journalling page to have that embossed lettering.

Project Two: Just a little journey

The next travelling inspiration is a set of ATCS... or it might be two pairs.  Courtney's postmarks from ECF06 work really well with a travel theme...

And the abstract shapes in Seth's Minis could make the imagination think of compasses or globes, or just travelling around in circles!

And oh, how I love having the words in bright white, capturing that light-hearted feeling of setting off on a new adventure.

It also means you can work with a dark background and still have the words pop into focus.

Project Three: Find the beautiful

This is a jumbo tag that I feel I could just dive into, in search of the beautiful.  It's one of my all-time favourite stamps with Lin's beautiful grasses from ELB30.  (In fact, if you examine the collections, you'll see it puts in an appearance with every one of the three new stamp sets... that's the joy of combining words and pictures!)

And although this time it's stamped on a separate piece of mop-up card, rather than directly on the project, you still have that magical raised texture, this time in Wow Earth Pepper, one of my favourite powders.

Project Four: Go with your whole heart

This was another stamp which was just begging to work alongside the Travel & Journeys quotes... Lynne Perrella's glorious nautical figure from LPC001.  Have ship, will travel!

You can see I've also used the quote, stamped in complementary paint colours, to add extra detail to the brayered background.

Eclectica³ Alison Bomber Set 13 (EAB13) Sunshine & Rain

Project One: Love the rain, love the sun!

I find when I have new quotes to play with that there'll always be one or two which just seem to belong to a Zinski character!  I'm sure they'll speak to you differently, everyone's imagination takes different journeys, but this pair of tags, one jumbo and one regular, almost made themselves!

The positivity of this quote about loving the rain reminds me of that other old saying: "There's no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothing."

Project Two: Rainbow Shadows

Another couple of ATCs now - not necessarily a pair artistically, but I do like how they compare and contrast with their main colours of purple and yellow from opposite sides of the colour wheel.

Another thing I love about having these words as stamps is that I can match the ink colours of the quotes directly to the ink colours of any image stamping.

Project Three: The Best Thing One Can Do

This pair of tags have a couple of things in common... they use die-cuts cut from the same piece of painted watercolour paper (stamped on with extra umbrellas from Hot Picks 1801 in the case of Umbrella Man, and an echo of the quote stamp for the butterflies), but they also both have brilliant advice for living a good life, though they each have a slightly different angle on how to go about doing so!

Again, although these quotes are stamped on a separate piece of card to help them pop against everything else going on in the tag, stamping it in a matching colour helps the whole thing look so polished and cohesive.  And I really like the effect of using repeat stamping of the same quote to create a deeper undergrowth around the meadow grasses.

Eclectica³ Alison Bomber Set 14 (EAB14) The Happiness Edition

Project One: Happiness is a butterfly

Again, this was a combination which took care of itself.  Lynne Perrella's recent glorious butterfly themed stamps seemed just right to go with this particular thought - though it could equally well pair with many other images.

One thing which was really important to me from the very beginning with these sets of quote stamps was to give the writers and speakers of the words the credit due to them.  As you'll see with these samples, you can choose to keep the author, or you can stamp without it if you prefer.

I really enjoyed finding a lovely place for Nathaniel Hawthorne's name, nestled between the curlicues at the foot of this jumbo tag.  I also like the multi-ink stamping of this quote.  I think there's Leaf Green, Olive and Aquamarine Archival all involved, with some clear embossing powder over the top.

Project Two: A sunbeam of the soul

A trio of beermats next, filled with bubbles of joy and laughter...

Courtney's wonderful bubbly leaves (ECF06 again) bring nature into the mix, something which always helps with my happiness levels, whatever Richard Wagner says... though it's a little reductive to call nature a "thing", so that's probably not quite what he means!

I'm pretty sure he and Abraham Lincoln are coming from much the same sort of place with their ideas...  Again, being able to match the ink colours of the words and images sends little sunbeams into my soul!

Project Three: Begin to be happy

Yup, we're back on the Zinskis for this sweet Antoine de Saint-Exupéry quote.

I just think his bashful expression with those blushing cheeks matches the thought perfectly!

Project Four: This hour of happiness

Finally (yes finally - you made it!), another pair of tags with nature at their heart.  Regulars at Words and Pictures will know how often my crafting journey leads me to nature... to leaves and grasses and trees.

I can't wait to see in what direction these Happiness quotes lead each of you... we all have our own paths to that perfect happy hour.  It conjures up something different for each of us.

It makes me truly joyful to have these words from Mahatma Gandhi, which I have treasured for more than half my life, now ready and waiting to be used whenever I need them.

But my final happiness in this post is to be sharing these new words with all of you.  I'm really looking forward to seeing how they inspire you in your crafting journeys or indeed your life journeys.  On tags and layouts, in art journalling or bullet journals or diaries, for projects large or small, I hope you'll find the perfect words to capture your moments of happiness on the journey, whether in sunshine or rain, somewhere in these quotes.

Come back tomorrow to see how they've inspired the lovely Jennie Atkinson of Live the Dream... I'm really looking forward to it too!  Thanks so much for stopping by today for this mountain of wordplay, and happy crafting all!

Alison xx
