NEW: Alison Bomber Stamps {with Jennie Atkinson}

September 2019 New Products
Eclectica³ Collection {Alison Bomber}

Leandra intro....
It's always lovely to see the fun our fantastic bloggers have with new stamps when they first get their hands on them! Jennie has long enjoyed using Alison's stamps on her projects, but in this case she makes them the focal point of a lovely little book. Beautiful!

These stamps were announced yesterday by Alison (see here) and they are available from our stockists now, please see yesterday's post for a list of stockists.

Hi everyone, it's Jennie with you today sharing some sunshine using Alison's fabulous new quotes. The three sets to me just summed up happiness, summer skies and fields and so I chose to use some of the new Fresco colours to create summer feel papers on my Gelli Plate.

I have made three ATCs each using the individual stamp sets and then combined all the wonderful quotes into a "Live in the Sunshine" concertina fold book. A lovely reminder of summer sunshine during the coming winter months!

I love experimenting with the Gelli plate and it does get rather addictive! To create the summer feel I used two of the new Fresco Finish colors

Summer Sky, Periwinkle

 combined with some older favourites

Summer Sky and Granny Smith brayed onto the Gelli Plate with highlights of Vanilla. I find that using Smoothy Regular Card (240gms) results in a lovely finish with the colours remaining bright.

More emphasis on blue skies here with Summer Sky, Smurf, Vanilla and a little Periwinkle.

The same colours again, but this time brayered lightly and I have used some stems cut from ordinary copy paper as a mask. I love the floaty ethereal feel.

Now to use this wonderful collection of papers! I had made a simple concertina fold booklet  using Smoothy Heavyweight Card and cut pages to decorate. I wasn't too sure about the white areas, but actually found they really added to the feel of summer skies.

I blended Broken China and Peeled Paint Distress Oxides through Scrapcosy's lovely stencil PS074.

And using the same inks added a little text stamping using one of my favourites from the Travel 2 set. You can see that the Distress Oxides dry a lot lighter than when they are first applied.

I wanted the quotes to really stand out on the background papers so decided to gesso some old text paper and then stamp on top. I love how the text shows through but doesn't detract from the quotes.

I used the same process to make my cover but this time ensured there were some lighter areas of colour. Again the same colours and distress oxide inks but it looks quite different.

I kept the decoration minimal and used a part of the quote as a title.

I really love the combination of the summer colours with the wonderful quotes and it certainly is a ray of sunshine on my desk!

I still had some wonderful papers to work with and so used a quote from each set to make a trio of ATCs. I wanted to keep a floaty ethereal feel as a backdrop to the three quotes I chose. I have stamped the quotes on tissue paper and then adhered with multi medium glue. I am never too confident of my stamping! but they are not as clear as they would be if stamped direct.

I have used stamps from ESC03 and Archival Fern Green for the background Stamping.

I love using Alison's quotes in my journalling, scrapbooking and mixed media work and I hope sharing these projects will give you some ideas of how quotes can be used in your artwork. I am sure that all three of these sets will be put to use for cards too - the ATCs will look fabulous on a plain white card.

Being able to combine the wonderful sentiments with some of the gorgeous new Fresco colours has been a lovely experiment into colour for me. The Gelli Plate certainly allows  freedom to try out new colour combinations ..... and is exciting and addictive too!

Many thanks for joining me today and I hope you have a creative week.
