Tonight we have Lotte here to share another beautiful idea with Sara's newest stamps announced here by Sara 2 days ago, at that link you will also find a list of stockists as we have been shipping to shops for the past 2 weeks. Lotte has created a gorgeous book for you in this post, and I love the interesting way she has used this bird collage stamp! ~ Leandra.
Hey everyone, it's Lotte Kristensen here,
and I'd like to share a card using one of the the fabulous new stamp
sets and stencils from Sara Naumann. I've used PS122 and ESN34 for my
post, but here's a reminder of all of Sara's newest products.
The way I usually work is by having an idea - which turns into something completely different, so I was pleased when for once it almost ended up like I'd envisaged! I do like lots of layers in everything I do - whether it's paint, texture or images - and this is quite a literal take on that. The end result is fun, I think, and a wee bit different?
The way I usually work is by having an idea - which turns into something completely different, so I was pleased when for once it almost ended up like I'd envisaged! I do like lots of layers in everything I do - whether it's paint, texture or images - and this is quite a literal take on that. The end result is fun, I think, and a wee bit different?
So, first I got my paints and and sundries together - I used PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic paint in Caramel, Jade and Mustard Pickle, as well as PaperArtsy Infusion Dye Stains in Lemoncello and Golden Sands. Also at the ready some Smoothy Heavy Cardstock and Grunge Paste. I used the following ink pads - Distress Oxide in Tea Dye and Peacock Feathers, Archival Ink in Potting Soil and Sepia, and Versafine in Deep Lagoon and Onyx Black. If you have a stamping platform, this would be very helpful too!
Next, cut the Jade painted paper in half, and with the PS122 stencil and Distress Oxide Ink in Peacock Feathers add dabs of colour all over. I only used part of each heart aperture to produce a mottled effect, like little sun glints.
On that same piece of paper, in Versafine Deep Lagoon, randomly stamp the Carte Postale stamp from ESN34 all over - you want to go over the edges, don't try and keep within, this ensures a more natural look. This piece is your first Jade paper.
On the other half of the Jade painted paper, randomly stamp the small bird image from ESN34 in Versafine Deep Lagoon, and the larger leaf stamp in Distress Oxide Tea Dye. Again, go over the edges for a natural look. This will be your second Jade paper.
Now cut the Mustard Pickle painted paper in half, and on one piece stamp the large leaf stamp from ESN34 in Distress Oxide Tea Dye.
On that same piece, add the Bluebird quote stamp from ESN34 in Archival Ink Pad Sepia -
- before finally adding dabs of Grunge Paste through the PS122 stencil -
- and when the Grunge Paste is dry, lightly stipple with Archival Ink in Potting Soil, and set aside. This is your first Mustard Pickle paper.
On the other half of the Mustard Pickle paper, randomly stamp the small bird stamp from ESN34 in Distress Oxide Tea Dye, and the small leaf stamp in Versafine Deep Lagoon. This will be your second Mustard Pickle paper.
Okay, more than half way there! Now, with the first piece of Jade stamped paper, cut to measure 15 cm x 21 cm; from the second piece of Jade paper, cut one piece measuring 9 cm x 15 cm, and another measuring 4 cm x 10 cm. Next, from the first piece of Mustard Pickle paper, cut a piece measuring 11 cm x 17 cm. From the second piece of Mustard Pickle paper, cut a piece measuring 6 cm x 12 cm.
Take
the top three layers and carefully stick some masking tape to the
corners before clamping onto the stamping platform. If you don't have
one of those, use the old fashioned stamp-a-majig thingy:
In Versafine Onyx Black, stamp the large bird stamp from ESN34:
Carefully remove that piece of paper -
- before stamping again on the next one:
And finally:
Now
line up all the papers and secure with low-tack tape to make a
'sandwich' (all this talk of Mustard Pickle made me hungry!!). Score
with bone folder exactly down the middle -
- and stitch on machine, or by hand. I coloured the thread with ordinary felt tips.
Next, layer onto black cardstock, leaving 1/2 cm edge all around.
Score with bonefolder down the back and fold out card as follows:
I added some sari ribbon in complementary colours, and a few small beads to finish off:
After
I'd finished putting the card together, I decided it looked a bit bare,
so stamped with the Shakespeare quote from ESN34 in Versafine Onyx
Black on the Jade Papers, and in Archival Ink Potting Soil on the
Mustard Pickle papers. I used a piece of photo copy paper to protect
the layers underneath. I really enjoyed making this project, it may
seem like a like a lot of fiddly steps, but once you're working on it,
it really flies off. And it's always nice to have slightly different
versions of your standard greetings card, just for variety - so give it a
go, I would love to see what you come up with!
