Hi everyone, it's Miriam with you today, and I'd like to share with you a few ways that I have played, I
mean experimented, with Baked Textures. Nothing that I tried are new
ways of using the Baked Textures but they were new to me, and I had a
great time playing with them.
I
wanted to see if I could use the chunkier Textures for more finer and
smooth detail - and they worked a treat - I was really happy with what I
discovered. The best advice I can give is to get the Baked Textures
out on your desk, and don't be afraid and have a play.
I
used the Baked Textures in 3 ways. The first was to create the 'skin'
which I embossed into using the amazing new Hot Picks HP1801EZ stamp
set.
NEW: Hot Picks Set 1801 (HP1801EZ)
The
'skin' didn't go according to plan at first. I had the idea of trying
it and then stupidly did not think to layer the craft mat with Versamark
first. So, when I started to heat the first layer, the Baked Textures
flew everywhere. Needless to say, it took me an age to clear up and I
will not be making that mistake again.
I
used 4 layers of the Deep Sea Baked Textures to create the skin. I
love how smooth the result was. On the 4th layer, I inked my stamp and
while the Baked Texture was still hot, I stamped into it. I left the
stamp for a minute or so and then carefully peeled it back. I loved the
result! It reminded me of a trip around an exclusive car factory in
Italy earlier this year where they emboss into the leather for a very
hefty sum.To make it stand out more I added a touch of Treasure Silver.
For
the second way of using the Baked Texture I stamped the
mathematical/science stamp and then embossed it using Vintage Beeswax
Baked Texture. I really can't tell you how much I love this 'flavour'.
The final way that I used the Baked Texture was to emboss the edges of my project using Rocky Road Baked Texture. I wanted to draw the eye into the centre of the project and the detail around it. Rocky Road is a lovely thick, granular Texture. I loved how this turned out and it feels wonderful to touch!
I had so much fun using the Baked Textured. I found them so versatile and fun to use. They are work differently and can be used in so many ways. They are a great addition to my craft stash. I really encourage you to have a go for yourselves. Don't be afraid and just play around and see what you can create. But remember - if you want to create a 'skin' make sure you put a layer of Versamark down first!
Thank you for joining my tonight. I hope you have enjoyed my post and take the lids off your Baked Textures!
