NEW PaperArtsy Products: Gwen Lafleur {April 2026}

A note from Leandra:

Wow is this a fun series of designs by Gwen for you this month! I think you are going to enjoy the possibilities and then some! Gwen's boho designs always offer some interesting insights into how she chooses the themes and often she shares aspects of her travels that strongly influence her creative arty offerings.

This new release has flowers, birds and some labels that are a bit like giant postage stamps. Lets take a closer look ....

Gwen will be along to share with you LIVE these new products and ideas over in our Facebook Group, 'PaperArtsy People' shortly after this post publishes.

These stamps are available EXCLUSIVELY from our approved stockists. Please check the list at the foot of this post to find a retailer geographically near you, it makes sense to order within your country where possible.

Our retailers do their best to join the designer's live (or replay) to share their shopping links - this makes it super easy for you to find a store with product in stock immediately.

EGL49 by Gwen Lafleur (EGL49)

I love and collect postage stamps and have since I was young. In early 2025 I realized how many I have and started organizing them and before I knew it, the bug had bitten and I am fully entrenched in that rabbit hole.

One of the things I love about stamps is how they connect you to the world and to history. Naturally, I gravitate towards stamps from countries I've visited or that fascinate me. As I was sorting stamps, I couldn't help but notice how many really cool and beautiful ones there are. The natural following thought was, wouldn't these make amazing rubber stamps?

There are already a lot of stamp-themed products on the market but I wanted these to be different in a few ways. One, I wanted to make them more of a build-your-own concept where you aren't locked into using the same images every time or even using them as postage stamps. So, all of the central focal images and postal cancels are separate stamps. Two, I wanted them to be larger to give them some more versatility. As a result, these can be used as large customizable postage stamps, or you can make them into frames, tags, bases for embellishments, etc... depending on how you want to use them.

Postage Themed Handmade Concertina Journal

For this set I've created a handmade art journal that's all based around postage stamps. You can see that I've used the stamps in different combinations to totally cover the front and back covers of my book. (The book itself is my own modification of a Concertina binding, which is traditionally a stitched binding. Fun fact: many people now call accordion books "concertina" books because of the accordion fold that's used in the binding.)

I already love how you can change up the look of each image by switching what you put inside - can you tell how much fun I had playing? (This is a great way to combine older stamps as well!)

Inside of the book I started working on the pages by focusing on one of the stamp frame designs on each page. I also included one of the original stamps that inspired each design! This first was based on an old stamp from Vatican City - I love the beautiful details in the frame.

Above, you can also see where I used one of the post cancellation marks (one of the 100+ year old "fancy" cancels back when they were hand stamped.) These also make great textural or background elements.

I did a full two-page spread to highlight the Persian stamp frame - this is one of my favorite designs and again, you can see the original inspiration on the bottom-left. (You may also notice some of the new PaperArtsy Paris city map tissue paper collaged in here as well!)

Note the concentric circles post cancellation stamp in the background. It's based on an actual antique postal cancel but I also love how versatile it is - you can use it on its own or repeat it for a background or a textural element.

And on the other side of the spread you can see how different the stamp looks just by changing the colors and the central image.

The third page includes the stamp image that was based on a series of old stamps from India. I drew all of the designs in this set by hand, but for this one in particular I wanted to really clean up the original design to bring out more of the details - I just couldn't get over the elephants in this one!

You can see again what the original stamp inspiration looked like. I'm also picturing cutting out the center from the stamped image and having another shape or element come through or adhering a dimensional embellishment in that space. So many options!

Finally, the 4th stamp frame was originally based on an Algerian stamp that you can see included on the page, but I made it horizontal instead of vertical so that I would have options for different widths and directions when using the set. As much as I love that original design, I'm really happy to have it stamp this way!

I love the color scheme of the original and it will probably take me a while to branch out from that. The central element I used in this sample is actually the "Lindwurm" dragon featured on many older Austrian postage stamps. For drawing this one in particular, I took inspiration from a stamp from the early 1900s and it's fun to use on its own too!

EGL49 by Gwen Lafleur (EGL50)

Our trip around the world is jumping to Japan with EGL50 (and I still can't quite believe that I now have over 50 stamp sets!) The inspiration for most of these designs came from Japanese printed fabrics and they're quite stylized and very fun to use!

Japanese Motif Tunnel Book

Looking at this stamp set, in my mind I saw two koi circling in a pond and the thought immediately came to me that this would make a perfect tunnel book! It was so much fun and I love how it turned out. All of the stamps in this set make an appearance as you go down the tunnel.

Starting on the outside you can see the peacock coin medallion serving as the focal point on the cover of the book as well as a place to insert the waxed thread that wraps around to keep it closed and secure when I'm not looking inside. There are also embossed plum blossoms and some other flowers in the background... those will make another appearance below.

The koi are the top layer of the tunnel pages themselves. I love how the details from the stamps comes out so well, even on the handmade cotton paper!

The second layer features the three butterfly stamps in this set. I love how having them in different sizes and poses gives so many more options to use them in different applications or to create a scene like this one. In the background behind the pages you can see how I used the medallion and the plus sign texture stamp on the inside covers.

The third level in the tunnel pages features the spray of daisies along with the plus sign background stamp again. I love these sweet, delicate little blooms! You can repeat them to make bigger designs or they're perfectly sized for cards or ATCs.

The bottom layer features the plum blossoms. I have a particular fondness for these from my first trip to China where I learned about the symbolism of how the sweetness of the Spring blooms comes from the adversity of winter.

EGL49 by Gwen Lafleur (EGL51)

EGL51 is what I call my "Pollination" set for obvious reasons. I love all of the options as a stand-alone set of stamps, but it also works beautifully with previous stamp sets to give you lots of expanded options.

Hummingbird & Flowers

I am totally thrilled with this stamp set! First, it has a bird. Second, the details came through so beautifully, as usual! As always with my stamps, the images are totally hand drawn and I just love how the little hummingbird turned out. We only have one species of hummingbird in my part of the world which is the Ruby Throated Hummingbird I used as the source for my drawing. I'm currently saving for another trip to Ecuador where I want to go to the cloud forest and see all the hummers! But I digress...

These trumpet flowers are based on plants that I see in my own neighborhood in late Spring and Summer and the hummingbirds and other pollinators love them! And they're just so pretty. You can also get a good look at the honeycomb texture stamp I included here (which happens to work great with the bumblebee from EGL39.)

Butterflies & Zinnias

Two years ago, I planted a bunch of Zinnia seeds in our backyard and we ended up with Zinnias that were 4-5 feet tall and covered in bright pink, yellow, orange, and red blooms. And the birds, butterflies, and bees just loved them! I love their happy colors and there are two of them included in this set.

The butterfly is also based on a photo that I took in our yard. I love how he can be flying, but also perfectly ready to alight on flowers and plans in artwork.

If you're interested, it just so happens that the techniques in the samples for EGL51 (and also EGL50 if you look closely) are what I'm going to share in a live craft-along on Saturday, May 9th! So, if you like these, get ready to craft along with me soon. More details and a list of supplies will be coming soon, but just a hint: get your stamp positioning tools ready!

Many thanks for taking the time to visit. Hoping you have been inspired by the stamps, images, and ideas shared in this post. If you decide to get any or all of these stamps and share on social media, always remember to tag me. I love seeing where your creative minds and hands take you!

Many thanks also to the entire crew at PaperArtsy. They are the best!

Happy Stamping!
