A note from Leandra:
Wowza would you look at these ..... well, let me just say that they may look bright and bold, BUT these are transparent Matte Tints - Mattints as we call them, and they are super fun for adding a bit of interest, yet still allowing the under layers to be seen.
Leandra was LIVE with a 90 minute demo with Mattints (both releases)in our FB group 'PaperArtsy People' . Here is the demo, grab a cuppa! It is listed in the Guide 'Playalong Sessions' (here). It is an explanation of the product, how to use it and lots of tips for good measure!
Mattints are available EXCLUSIVELY from our approved stockists. Please check the list at the foot of this post to find a retailer online or geographically near you, it makes sense to order within your country where possible. Our retailers also endeavour to join the designer's live to share their direct shopping links - this makes it super easy for you to find a store with product in stock immediately.

Transparent Matte Tint, Adhesive & Sealant
I swatched these beauties out in my journal. L-R: on tissue, direct to paper, mixed with Magenta and A bit Jaded infusions, over paint, with paint, over a stamped image, over Grunge Paste. Note this is a dylusions journal so the colours are sitting on the creamy, manilla background, they would be brighter on white smoothy.
Jam is a classic shade of purple. I found it was nice to use as shading on faces, and yes I am sure you could mix something similar with The Pink and Dragonfly ....
I used Jam on both sides of this face mixed into The Pink and Dragonfly - that gave me all kinds of different purples, but I really did love how cool it became on the right hand side of the face! This face is huge BTW, it is from Tracy Scott's Printed Tissue.
It also looks pretty cool when smooshed over a white brayered background. You can see some of the first 4 Mattints in this sample (Fern, Glow and Shark are visible). I think Jam sits really nicely with the first 4 more muted colours to give some lift.
Squeezed is Orange, but it is not too bright, it is a bit softer than you might expect. I love an orange-blue contrast, so it is fab contrasted with Dragonfly.
In this sample I tried to use just Squeezed to show you how one colour can build as you keep working the layers. Starting with gel printed squares at the base, some of the leftover glaze was stamped in the numbers over, you can see how much more concentrated they are when over an existing orange 'block' vs on their own. I stencilled 'notes' and the 'Mandala', and then came over again with 'The Pink' Mattint to add a soft contrast.
With TSM19 over the background, I was still able to easily add Dragonfly, Jam and The Pink to blend. The more layers, the more intense the colour gets.
You can achieve intensity, but it will take many many layers! The flowers in her hair were all done with Mattints, but it was an incredible number of layers, plus mixing other colours in too!
Dragonfly is just the prettiest blue, at the brighter, cleaner end of turquoise, it is a very useful mixing colour to add into others for a wider colour palette. I'd say a must have!
It might be good to point out that when you stamp with a bold image (like this bold circle mini below), a Mattint, as a glaze does not layer onto a large area of rubber easily, so you kind fo get texture where some areas are darker, or that suck as you lift off the stamp. So if you want sharp imagery, stick to finer detail images
However, when applied through a stencil, I tried a couple of techniques - applied with foam, or via a gel-plate. It is fun is seeing how the layers overlap beautifully creating new colours.
For example here you can see circles over the blue background are more intense. The wings also were glazed blue before sticking them down, if you glaze both side of the tissue, you will create more intense colour.
Last is The Pink, packing some serious punch as a perfect magenta-primary option. This will blend with the others for some awesome colour mixing, and you will make different shades of purple when you use Shark or Dragonfly as your mixer.
The Pink is one of those colours that happily melts into any of the others without too much drama. On the sample below, I used 'Nutty' to add a stripe shadow, it also is the perfect way to add a vintage touch!
This little sample with TSM18 was initially just Squeezed and The Pink, but I added some blue of a pop of contrast.
Up close you can see some of the shading. Mattints are a super easy way to add some soft interest to any journal page, especially if you don't want to obscure the details in the underlayers.
Here's a reminder of the first 4 Mattints .... Shark, Glow, Fern and Nutty ....
as you can see below, I also swatched these in my journal. L-R: on printed tissue, direct to the page, mixed with Magenta and A Bit Jaded infusions, over paint, with paint, over a stamped image, over Grunge Paste.
The next few samples I was playing around with Glazed , or should I say Mattinted Printed Tissue. Both sides were coloured before using the colour to adhere the image to the surface. More Mattint can be added on top to edit the colour.
Don't forget that these Tints are Matte, yes I know it is in the name, but of course that means there is tooth to the surface. This allows you to journal with any pen over top no problem (just like Fresco Paints)
I also love how when one piece of tissue overlaps, you create another colour by default.
Perhaps more interesting when its a Glowy-Squeezed and Dragonfly. Ohh I just love how this looks!
And you may have been aware that Mags Woodcock has been using Mattints for image transfers - fabulous! How good do these look!
I hope you have enjoyed seeing these 4 new colours, and I am sure the brights of this release might offer something a bit different to the first, more muted shades. They are all useful in so many ways, and don't forget they can all be mixed with each other for even more interesting combinations!
Happy stamping!
