A note from Leandra:
Up today we have a new release from Nicci, and we are calling this series the art dolls! Who remembers making something like this as a little girl? I was an only child growing up, and I used to love dressing up paper dolls. I can see how these articulated dolls are going to be super fun in our journal pages or on tags too! Nicci has made a wide range of samples for this release, I hope you can see the possibilities too. But oh those stencils! Super useful for all your creative backgrounds.

Don't forget Nicci will be along to share with you LIVE her new products and ideas over in our facebook Group, PaperArtsy People shortly after this post publishes. I hope you can drop by for the live, or try to catch the replay. it's nice to hear direct from the designer about the new release and put the face to the name!
For the next 4 months, these stamps are only available EXCLUSIVELY from our approved stockists. Please check the list at the foot of this post or from the tab at the top of the blog page to find a retailer online or geographically near you, it makes sense to order within your country where possible.
Hi everyone, Nicci here,
I'm super excited to share with you my newest release for PaperArtsy. 3 stamps and coordinating stencils.
This release is all about the freedom of 'PLAY'. I invite you to let go of anything that is holding you back, and release the inner 8 year old from within! Imagine the unlimited possibilities that paper, a pair of scissors and your favourite colouring products along with these stamps & stencils can bring you!

This release is all about the freedom of 'PLAY'. I invite you to let go of anything that is holding you back, and release the inner 8 year old from within! Imagine the unlimited possibilities that paper, a pair of scissors and your favourite colouring products along with these stamps & stencils can bring you!
This release pairs well with those of my last two releases, and don't forget that there are stamps from other PaperArtsy Designers that you can bring into this too! I will share some fun samples with this mash-up concept in mind with you in the LIVE video that follows this blog post in the PaperArtsy People FB group.
Stamp ENB07 was inspired by my love for cute Halloween decor and Japanese Harajuku Girls. I embellished her with other signature 'Nicci' elements that you probably have already noticed popping up in my design style within previous releases.
In the sample below, I wanted to show you the beautiful contrast that can be achieved with a monotone focal point (our articulated paper doll) and a vibrant grunge framed background.
You will see our fun little bat stamped in a peach tone in the background. He is stamped repeatedly onto a piece of deli paper. Great for creating ephemera or wrapping a small gift!
Here I zoomed in to show you the variety of visual textures that I created within the monotone palette of colour. By using pencil crayons over my base layer of PaperArtsy paint, you can see some of the lovely rough shading. I decided not to use a blender pencil on her, as the shading itself seemed to tell a story of its own compared to the painted, stamped and embossed background.
When attaching our quirky harajuku girl to the background tag, I used foam dots just on her bodice. That way her limbs are free to move and dance on the page as you please. This is the fun of these girls, creating expression with movement. The brads I used are Tim Holtz mini fasteners, however you can also either glue your pieces together or even stamp them as one piece!
A fun idea to make this more individual, is to stamp with a very light coloured ink. This allows you to use paint to block out parts of the design to sketch new facial expressions or add different clothing patterns. You then use a fine permanent pen to outline the new features or designs making a whole new art doll of your own. You could create a banner of friends holding hands for example!
Here is a page that I recently completed in a mini handmade journal from my online class 'Mini Rustic Glamour Journal'. When I had finished creating this paper doll with her coffee (art juice...fuel ...lol) and her cupcake purse, I thought that she would be complimented by this background nicely. You might have noticed the damask wallpaper was created using a stamp from my Halloween 2021 release 😍 . I think it paired together quite well.
With this lovely lady, I once again did a base coat of PaperArtsy paint and then added some shading with pencil-crayons. I did stamp them onto Bristol paper with a vellum finish and not true stamping paper, therefore you will notice that the ink did bleed a bit on the paper as it dried. If you are new to stamping, try experimenting with different types of paper as well as with a few types of ink. It is good to experiment with different combinations of ink, paper and colour to find what you prefer to use for the multitude of wet or dry colour options out there.
Her lovely retro dress and apron are 60's inspired. Imagine it coloured in Tiffany blue and canary yellow or blush pink and cream, or change it up by turning the dots into tiny daisies. You can even swap out her modern day to-go-coffee with the extra large MARTINI from my second release last Winter (ENB06) ... and then she is ready for a Girls Night Out or entertaining a few friends at home.
Don't forget that you can easily change up the broach from her skull and cross bones to a heart, a bow, a flower, or even just a sparkle gem!
"Never underestimate the POWER of a WOMAN and her CREATIVITY!"

Whatever Sprinkles Your Donuts, REBEL GIRLS! (or boys 😘)
You may have noticed that I tried, within my limits of three, 😉 to create a very versatile set. I wanted to create a set that would speak to all the colours of our rainbows. Whatever your nationality is, your DNA mix, your age, your gender identity... I want to bring you supplies that you will enjoy creating with. I know that this set is strongly feminine, but this is only my 3rd release... wink wink.
As I mentioned before, these designs will pair well with many other PaperArtsy designers stamps, some of which you might already own! Think about a also using another 'head' from within the PaperArtsy camp such as Lynne Perrella, ElenaZinskiArt (she has loads), Clare Lloyd, Darcy(set 20 onwards) or perhaps another brand you have in your stash could work.
Did you think you could try to use fun animal and bird heads? I created one sample piece using the head from 'Bone Daddy', the cat, from my first release (ENB01). Too fun!
Some other ideas of what I want to create with my paper doll pieces is using the glass dome & slide frame from Gwen Lafluer's set EGL26 as the torso piece. I also want to try using the mushrooms from Scrapcosy's set ESC26 as torsos or even head pieces.
Taking a look at the image below. Think of how you could create visual stories and displays of your very own. Here it looks as though she is showing you a bottle of the Lavender PaperArtsy Fresco Finish paint (obviously her favourite colour!) and she's for sure telling you how great it works in her art journals. She's saying ''Since it dries with a matte finish, your pages will never stick together or need to be sealed in any way.'' Or maybe.. she is telling you how you can create your own lavender friend, just like her. Too cute!
I love this glitzy spiral! It can be used as a background element as Alice falls down the rabbit hole, or the large spinning disc from a carnival as you are hypnotized. The pattern can add fun elements to large leaves, clothes or anything else with an element of mystery.
In these sample tags I used Ranger Distress Mica Stains and Archival Ink pads to create resists. The piece on top was created by rubbing Ranger Archival Ink through the stencil onto Distress Paper, lifting the stencil and spraying with a few other distress sprays. Once dry, I stamped and embossed the edges with the background and Rebel Girls stamps from ENB09.
On the red tag, I sprayed through the stencil with the Distress Mica Stain and then pressed another clean tag onto the top of it. I then spayed the original tag with red ink sprays and the 2nd tag with a black soot.
PaperArtsy Stencil 315 (PS315)
Sending love and floral scents from Hawaii! 😘 With this stencil you can send your paper dolls on vacation or write a love letter.
On this tag I played with tactile and visual texture. I used PaperArtsy Grunge Paste through the stencil for the hearts and for the hibiscus flower. I did not wait for the grunge paste hearts to dry when I embossed them with Tim Holtz latest release of Distress embossing glazes. For the Hibiscus flower, however, I added a layer of Golden's Extra Heavy Gel Matte on top of the Grunge Paste, sprinkled it with Distress embossing glaze in Candied Apple, let it dry and then heat embossed it. The flowers look like they could be yummy candy apples! The texture is amazing and the gel over the Grunge Paste gives lovely rounded edges to the flowers.
If you have not tried the PaperArtsy Grunge Paste and want to give it a whirl, it is an element that may bring your next project to a new level! I look forward to breaking in my new journal with some new 3d adventures using these supplies.
PaperArtsy Stencil 316 (PS316)
Versatility, my friends! I am so beyond pleased with how this release came out. Oh my goodness! Check out how I swapped out my steampunk inspired wings for ones designed by Tracy Scott (TS062) on this journal page.
I am so in love with this juicy background! and my doll becomes a fairy! I tried to use an element from each piece of this release & it turned out amazing! From the stamps to the stencils. As you can see below that for this hibiscus flower I used Grunge Paste and embossed it with WOW! Embossing Powder in Metallic Gold Rich Regular. Embossing powder will stick to anything wet, so GP is a fun way to get texture and bling!
By adding some 'Little Black Dress' through the stencil, I was able to pull the whole page together and give it some weight.
Thank you so much for joining me in my studio. If you would like to JOIN my facebook group and become a fellow Un-Tethered Unicorn, you will find the link directly below. I look forward to creating for and with you all again in June!
