Hi everyone, it's Martha (CraftingMartha) this is my first post in the PaperArtsy blog and I'm so excited about it!
Today I'm here to share with you an art journal page, with one stamp set from the new release by France Papillon (FP023) release just last week! (details here)
I was immediately attracted by this stamp set, and I felt the quote as an exhortation to myself, so I thought of making an art journal page.
The topic 'pattern play' was a challenge for me, because I am not the most precise person, but those little positive/negative leaf circles really inspired me.
The leaf grid stamp inspired me as a pattern too, so I figured out how make layers, and all that I needed was Distress Oxide, a mini round gel-plate and Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics.
Choosing the main colour was a natural decision, different shades of light and bright green are directly connected with energy for me.
I begin stamping with Distress Oxide (Twisted Citron) for my first layer.
I used a mini round gel-plate for the second layer, but before doing so, I made a rectangular mask to keep a space clean for the quote.
I 'stamped' with the gel-plate four times, applying different Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics one at a time (Limelight, Slimed, Chartreuse) but not covering the whole page, to give more light and balance.
Now it is the time for the real pattern, stamping by alternating the two stamps with the little leaf circles, inked with Archival Ink (Fern Green).
This is the new stamp set I used, available from approved PaperArtsy Retailers now (
list)
This is the result after removing the mask.
Now there is the right space to stamp the quote in, with Versafine (Onyx Black)...(it would have been better if I had stamped with it aligned perfectly, but anyway π)
To give more definition I made a border with a marker pen.
I needed some elements as embellishments, so I decided to use the other stamps in the stamp set (FP023).
I love colours, yes I love lime green, but also so many others, so I grabbed some of my favourites Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics (Bouganvillea, Chalk, Caribbean Sea, Persimmon, Banana, Firebird) and applied with brayer and gel-plate to white cardstock.
So I stamped the round elements in the stamp set and the butterfly too, then I found that the little sun on a previous stamp set by Lynne Perrella (LPC005) was matching perfectly with the other elements and with the quote about energy, what a better source of energy than the sunlight?
I ended up with a lot of embellishments... yes a lot I know... but apart from not being very precise and loving bright colours, I am also an indecisive person, and I am not exaggerating when I say that it took me a looong time to decide what and how to arrange themπ
.
Here it is, my finished page, a double pattern, one underneath the other, a little cluster around the quote, some circles put over the stamped ones and always those bright colours π
I had a great time playing on this journal page with this new stamp set (FP023) with those little circles it was fun to create a pattern. It will be interesting also to try on some smaller cards with different colour scheme, or stamping the leaf grid and highlighting the corresponding part with the negative circle, I'll give that a try soon and I hope you'll be inspired to create something patterned too. Don't forget to share what you make and tag us!
Until next time...
