2021 Topic 2: A Pocketful of ... Spring {by Jennie Atkinson}
Well i think this new release play to Jennie's strengths, the new fresco paint colours suit her style beautifully, and we all know she is Raquel's biggest fan! This has to be a match made in heaven!

Hi everyone, it's Jennie (Live the Dream) with you today sharing a pocketful of beautiful stamps from Scrapcosy's latest stamp release and using some of those yummy new minty Fresco colours which have such a wonderful fresh feel of Spring about them.
I could have done so much with these fabulous stamps but decided to concentrate on using the wonderful little stamps in the set which are just perfect for layering behind each other and in a pocket! The smaller butterflies, flowers and leaves are also just perfect for layering but the oh so gorgeous large flower stamp was a wow! on the tags.
I kept my pocket quite plain in order to showcase the embellishments and whilst I am presenting it here as "a pocket" I can see it being adhered to a card for a special spring birthday.
I have used stamps from all three new stamp sets:
and one of the new stencils (all these products are available exclusively from PaperArtsy stockists only, see the bottom of this blog post for a full list)
PS223
You can see how beautifully everything layers ..... I have used a mixture of cream cardstock and gelli plate prints using Fresco paints.
I always love Scrapcosy's beautiful flowers but in addition this release includes some beautifully handrawn tags and metal styled ornate frames (I can't wait to try these in embossed metallic).
These were my base papers pulled from the gelli plate. I have kept the colours quite simple, using the gelli plate really to get the colour on the paper in a more haphazard way than using a brush. The stencil gave some nice texture here and there. The three new Fresco colours work fabulously together in that they come from the same colour family: Peppermint, Frosty and Mouse Ears (I just love that name!)
I then used various colours of ink to stamp the images onto the papers and then had a grand cutting out session sat by the fire one dark cold evening! As you can see I gave myself a nice collection including some white embossed flowers which I didn't use in the end but I am sure will be used on another card.
I wanted a backdrop for all these beautiful elements so stamped a couple of tags again from the gelli plate papers. You can just see little highlights of the stencil in the background.
And then it was about tucking everything in, seeing what worked together. It pays to experiment and initially I thought the embossed flowers would look best, but found the self coloured flowers merged more into the layers and were a good contrast to the butterflies.
I raised some pieces on foam pads and added a couple of vertical metal embellishments. Sometimes the addition of something completely different but layered either horizontally or vertically can change the whole design.
I was able to isolate the word Spring from the sentiment on ESC22 for the banner which looks amazingly 3D despite laying flat on the pocket.
I am a huge fan of Raquel's stamps and have many favourite sets, but I can see these three immediately being elevated to favourites! Their versatility will be endless: cards, journal pages, scrapbook layouts, ATCs, mini books ...... And sometimes it is lovely to just have a quiet time wielding the scissors for a bit of fussy cutting on a dark evening, (or in the summer sat in the garden!) creating a box full of elements which can be used a short notice for a card.
I can't wait to create with the large flower stamps which will look stunning on a special card or a scrapbook layout. With spring just around the corner they will be the perfect seasonal blooms.
Thank you Raquel for another fabulous release.
As always thank you for joining me.
