I'm super excited to share with you my newest release for PaperArtsy consisting of 3 stamps 4 layering stencils and 2 ordinary stencils.

This release continues with some more flower/fairy houses along with a magical tree house!  Because they have been drawn in the same style as my previous 'house' release you can now have a whole village! I really like to use these new sets to build up entire scenes. But if you prefer clean and simple you can achieve this too. With the imagery contained on each of the stamp sets it is really easy to achieve a 'layered scene' especially when utilising stencilled imagery. My 'accessory stamp set' EKC37 (from my last release) works perfectly with with these new sets too :).

Eclectica³ Kay Carley Set 38 (EKC38)

When I was designing this particular house I really wanted to call it 'Bluebell Cottage' but in the end I didn't as I thought it would limit the colour palette that you could use with it although I still went ahead and painted it in 'bluebell colours' for this sample! This house was drawn in the same style as my daisy roofed house from EKC35 so they will make great 'companions'! 

Eclectica³ Kay Carley Set 39 (EKC39)

This stamp set is dedicated to my Dad as he always used to say that he could live in a shed in the middle of a wood! I'm not too sure if he would have shared it with the fairies, pixies and elves though! With regards to the 'tree house stamp' I thought long and hard about whether to put in windows! As you can see the 'windows' won out in the end as you can always blot them out when using opaque paint! 

Eclectica³ Kay Carley Set 40 (EKC40)

I haven't done it as yet but I am just dying to decoupage all the different parts of this house especially the flowers on the roof! As you can see for the accessory stamps on this set I chose to go with small and large flowers that were the same shape as each other as well as two different sizes of grass so that depth can be achieved very easily to a scene. The only trouble is that I keep wanting to use the grass with the other sets too!

PaperArtsy Stencil 192 (PS192)

This stencil has been designed to allow you to easily add paint to colour your image. As you can see each step of the stencil masks off other areas of the image. Full instructions are contained within each of these 'layered stencil' concepts. Like my 'layered stencils' from my last release they perfectly match their stamped counterparts and are best used within a stamping platform if you want to be able to re-stamp all the detail back in afterwards.

PaperArtsy Stencil 193 (PS193)

When I am using the 'layered stencils' I tend to use small stencil brushes to apply the paint (as you can see from the photos). To add interest I also normally add more than one colour of paint to each area. In the photo immediately above I had used French Roast and then lightly stippled Snowflake here and there on top to add highlights. Instead of applying paint to the roof you could also opt for Grunge Paste to give dimension ;).

PaperArtsy Stencil 194 (PS194)

When applying my paint through the different steps of the 'layered stencils' I only pick up a small amount of paint at a time and tap/work it into my brush before applying the brush to the stencil. This allows me to gradually build up the intensity of colour and gives greater control. Depending on the look I want I either stipple with the brush or lightly swipe.

PaperArtsy Stencil 195 (PS195)

This stencil is really versatile as it can be used just as a 'stand alone' stencil if you so desire and would look great combined with Grunge Paste to add dimension and texture. So far I have only used it to create subtle background imagery for scenes but as it is quite large it can be used for foreground imagery too to give depth to a scene.

PaperArtsy Stencil 196 (PS196)

The last of my 'layered stencils' for this release - this is the simplest of the layered stencils as it only contains 4 steps or if you choose not to have the windows it only contains 2 steps!

PaperArtsy Stencil title (PS197)

This stencil can either be a tall grass stencil or a flower stencil depending on what colours you choose to stencil it with. As you can see from the first photo above I use the smaller 'grass clumps' repeatedly to create larger more realistic clumps of grass or flowers. Very easy to do but quite effective.

Project One: In the Country

I wanted to make a dimensional card that I could have given to my Dad being that he was a 'country boy'. EKC39 works seamlessly with my PS170 tree stencil from my last release. As you can see below, the stencilled trees are the same style as the 'Tree House' contained on EKC39. (The grassy clumps are from EKC37 - also from my last release.)

I have now added more stamping. Below I only used the top part of the tall sprig stamp in order to 'sink' it into the ground and painted pink berries/flowers onto each of them before stamping and colouring my main imagery. Do you recognise the larger trees? The windows have now disappeared making this stamp really versatile :)

Next I added more interest into the ground area with more stamping plus I've created light and shade into the grass area. You can see what a difference this makes from the previous image.

Lastly I added some foreground imagery with the grass/flower stencil, added blue and pink colour into the sky before assembling it into a dimensional card.

Proposed Workshops

Below are little peeks of some future (online) workshop projects that I have been working on for this release. All of these projects will contain techniques in how to create a layered scene using a mix of stamps and stencils and how to use the matching layered stencils. Each of these proposed workshops contains it's own unique element! Fairy Bell Cottage includes decoupaging, The Wood Cabin concentrates on creating a woodland scene and how to change the look of certain stamps to give more variety and with Wisty Hollow you learn how to create dimensional looking flowers using Grunge Paste for some flowers and paint for others.
