France Papillon Collection
April 2020 NEW Product Announcement
A note from Leandra:
Well,
we might have a bit of a surprise for you tonight! In fact we have 2
big surprises. Not only a new signature designer, but this new relationship is
grounded in plans that we have been working on for some months now, and
that is to relocate PaperArtsy HQ to France, as in the country! Yup,
time for the next PaperArtsy adventure to begin! So new signature designer,
France Papillon, and a new move TO France. It doesn't get any better!
Our intention was to be in France already, March was the goal, but you may have noticed there are a few travel issues these days, so we will patiently wait for the right time to be revealed. We were also supposed to be in Paris next weekend at Version Scrap with France Papillon alongside us doing her thing, along with several other of our designers too, but here we are in our own PA bubble in the UK for now! No problem, we are safe, happy and busy. In the meantime, we have a fabulous range of new stamps to share with you tonight and we are all super thrilled about it!
I'm sure many of you in Europe may well have heard of France Papillon. She is a crafter of great experience based in Belgium, and for many years has developed her own line of stamps and affiliated products. That experience means not only has she developed 3 new stamps sets for you, but she has a back catalogue to share too, slightly edited to suit a new era. So this is going to be a big release!
I'm sure France's long-standing fans will quickly notice she has moved in a bit of a new direction with what I'm calling a 'bold style of sketching'. I really think that when a designer can express themselves in a hand-drawn manner, you get to see into their soul, and I really feel there are strong messages bursting forth in these new designs. We are so very pleased to welcome France to the PaperArtsy family, and itrs nice to see some new elements emerge in her design style too!
You know, there are a lot of plans that people, families, businesses have had to put on hold of late due to covid-19, and the trail of pain it has left in its wake. Perhaps, among these unusual, emotional times, you will find a moment to plug into France's online community. She does wonderful weekly prompts, and I think perhaps these times are the perfect opportunity to dig deep into you heart, share with yourself, with a friend, with your family on paper, perhaps in a journal, on scraps of cardboard, fabric or whatever you have to hand. Get out your paint, threads, textures, it really doesn't matter, just take some time to express how you feel. Artful splashes can be liberating, therapeutic, or just plain good fun!
As you all know by now, these designs are only available from our stockists, see the list at the foot of this post for details. And joing us over in PaperArtsy People for a FB LIVE with France at 7:30 pm (London time)
I'll leave you with France to explore her new creations.

Hi everyone, France here
I have to admit that I have a hard time believing I am even writing to you here today. Saying this is a dream come true is an understatement! Having your own line of stamps and products is one thing. Being trusted by a company you admire and being 'adopted' by them unleashes the kind of confidence I needed to finally share these brand new designs with you.
I'm crazy bunny dancing that you finally get to see these! So with no further ado, here they are:
I
wanted stamps with a clear meaning that would fit perfectly on an art
journaling spread as well as a tag or card. For my first make, I opted
for a tag to be used as a bookmark so that I could use this as a
reminder to stop my brain from overworking before starting to read.
France Papillon Collection Set 02 (FP002)
The
face combined with the text is a perfect reflection of what is going on
in my mind: lots of thinking! Next time however, she might be blowing
on the dandalion from the stamp set, depending on how I feel. The first 2
sentiments from the set are often used in English. The third one,
"lointain souvenir" means faraway memory. Can't wait to use it in my
journal!
France Papillon Collection Set 3 (FP003)
When
I started to design for Paperartsy, this was my very first drawing, so
his name of course is Neo (One). He has something very apocalyptical
about him but depending on the color you give him or the setting, he can
turn into a very soft and even romantic character!
France Papillon Collection - Back Catalogue (Reformed)
Many
of my previous stamps are included in this back catalogue
representation. I did however combine them differently so that one set
becomes more versatile no matter what your crafting style is. These are
the thumbnails for a quick overview, bigger images and samples are
below.
France Papillon Collection Set 4 (FP004)
Doesn't
it look like he has the perfect placement for a little heart on his
chest? I didn't want to sketch it there though, to give you the liberty
to add it if you feel like it.
France Papillon Collection Set 5 (FP005)
There's
no such thing as too many circles and to combine them with bees makes
my heart sing. Even if all these stamps work perfectly together because
of the comon theme, they will match perfectly with other sets as well.
Especially with the next one.
France Papillon Collection Set 6 (FP006)
Did
I mention there's no such thing as too many circles? This stamp was
something I used to do all the time: journaling around a circle on my
art journaling spreads. Until the request came to make it into a stamp. I
love how the body of the cat looks like an intricacy of circles which
makes it so easy to combine him with this set.
France Papillon Collection Set 7 (FP007)
It
really doesn't take much to make a statement with these bold flowers.
But luckily the little birds help to tone down that statement if needed.
That is why I like to combine these two so much.
France Papillon Collection Set 8 (FP008)
Just
like for FP006, this is something I used to hand-draw in my journals. To
place the plant in a circle feels very soothing to me, as if growth is
protected, even if it sometimes knocks you out of your comfort zone.
France Papillon Collection Set 9 (FP009)
Don't
tell the other sets, but this is my favorite in the back catalogue! And
no, having a butterfly on it does not make me biased! ;) But if I need
to make a quick card, I know that I simply can not go wrong with these!
France Papillon Collection Set 10 (FP010)
I
wanted to combine some of my stamps from my back catalogue in such way
that it would make it easier to create something for a gentlemen. Then I
challenged myself to do some scrapbooking, which I haven't done in
ages, because I knew that with this, I could pull it off. What do you
think? Mission accomplished?
France Papillon Collection Set 11 (FP011)
But
if I made a gentlemen's set, I needed to make a ladies' set as well,
right? She so reminds me of Downton Abbey. And little Ozzy looks like
her perfect companion, walking together in the same direction. Of course
she fits perfectly under the umbrella. Or she could be feeding the
horses. Oh the possibilities!
France Papillon Collection Set 12 (FP012)
This
is my second favorite set in the back catalogue. Kevin (that's his
name) might be intimidating because he isn't a full figure. But it
doesn't take more than how I used him here I think! And you can always
make it look like he is standing behind something by adding a strip of
washi tape as if he was standing behind a table.
Thank
you so much if you made it all the way through this very long
presentation of new stamps! I am looking forward to see all your
creations using these. Ready? Steady? Go create! But not just yet, first
Jennie has some more creations for you to enjoy!
Oh, and don't forget to join me over at PaperArtsy People at 7:30pm (London TIme) for a FB LIVE show and tell!

And here's Jennie..... with her take on my stamps, it's nice to have another persepective don't you think!?
Hi Jennie (Live The Dream)
here , Leandra asked me to make a few samples with France's new stamps
to support her in this release, and I am very excited to share some
samples made with these fabulous stamps!!
FP001
First up is a set of ATCs using the stamps over a background of brayered Frescos (Double Denim, Turquoise and Cloud 9).
I love the openness of the hand drawn stamps which allowed me to stamp
on text paper to great effect and they are easy to cut out too. The
vertical stamps created a nice border and I think with a bit of practice
would work well for creating a plaid type background.
FP002
This
little flower/tree stamp is going to be a huge favourite! It works well
as a focus or background image. The stamps in all three sets are a
perfect size for ATCs but would not be lost on a journal page either.
FP003
These
circles will also be a huge favourite and I loved again how well they
worked on text paper. This set contains a good collection of background
stamps which work well on ATCs or journal pages.
I
have made a small vintage style Souvenir Wallet using stamps from
across all three sets and combining them with a new release stencil by
Sara Naumann which has a French theme.
When
I want to create background papers for a small project I always turn to
my Gellii Plate, I love how I can blend a couple of colours together
and create texture with the brayer marks. I used Fresco Acrylic Brown Shed but added also added a bit of Double Denim and Cloud 9 here and there. Just a single pull with Smoothy 240gms cardstock is all that is needed.
I cut the base wallet from Smoothy 340gms 8" x 5" and scored 3 3/4" from each side to create a 1/2" spine. I cut my papers to fit the front and back covers and the spine and overstamped with white ink and Archival Hydrangea before adding texture paste through the stencil.

The
inside of the wallet has two pockets which have been decorated with
stamped images directly onto the gelli plate papers and also text paper.
These pockets were stuck down over a cream inside page which also got
stamped before cutting to fit. By this time the wallet is feeling quite
solid despite only being made from cardstock.
The
ATC for the front cover was decorated in much the same way as the rest
of the project - I do like to keep repeating elements throughout a
project. I had hoped the wallet would hold together itself but it did
need a ribbon tie which I caught under the ATC.
And
finally as I had spare background paper I made two little books to fit
into the pockets using similar elements to the rest of the wallet.
I hope you enjoy these new stamps from France as much as I have!

As a long time follower and fan of Journal on Monday as well as having taken a phenomenal class with France early on in my crafting journey, I'm particularly happy, as "butterfly" that there's a "Papillon" on the team... there's one for your French lessons, Leandra!! As you know, like yours, my move to the continental mainland is on hold. But once we're allowed to leave, I wish you all the luck in the world in your new bubble. For now, stay safe and stay well.

Wow! So pleased to see France Papillon designs for PaperArtsy - I NEED some of these! Now, why am I not surprised about your intended move? My son had intentions of being in his manoir in March too, still lots to do before they move though! What a fantastic time you'll have when this is all over! Good Luck and take care, Chrisx
