NEW PaperArtsy Products: September 2019 {JoFY}

JoFY Collection
September 2019 New Product Announcement

A note from Leandra:
A lovely seasonal release from Jo wraps up our new announcements for September. She has all bases covered with Halloween, Christmas AND Valentines! We all love a bit of a JOFY at Christmas for our cards and decorations, so I'm sure these will please as you prepare for the end of year celebrations.

Hi everyone, Jo here - really pleased, as always, to be sharing new stamp designs with you!!  As Leandra said I have a lot of bases covered with this release.... Halloween (nothing too scary!), Valentines (a little bit of romance never hurts does it) and of course Christmas!!! Ho ho ho!! There is a tree... well, actually there are five (!!) - can you ever have too many Christmas tree stamps?!? ... and a snowman - there always has to be a snowman doesn't there?!

So here are my newest releases for PaperArtsy ... I hope you enjoy using them as much as I enjoyed designing them...

  New Stamps
Price: RRP £18.74 +VAT
Size:5" x 6" (13 x16.5cm)
All stamps are individually trimmed onto cling foam, presented in a clear hanging bag
with a laminated storage/index sheet.

Jo Firth-Young Set 83 (JOFY83)

Oh my gosh.. these stamps make me smile so much! A while ago I doodled & altered my mini stamps Little Dude (JM52) and Dolly (JM53)...

...to create Halloween versions and I've always liked them - you can see how they morphed into their 'trick and treat' selves in the photo below.

For this release I've made them a little bit more 'gruesome' and turned them into stamps... maybe a Vampire Little Dude will join them next year.  I added some other little useful Halloween  motifs - spiders, skulls and of course every witch needs a cauldron doesn't she?!
I also included some big words - great for tags and treat bags (see picture a bit below) and decor pieces... and of course scrapbook pages when Halloween has been and gone.

I designed a separate tombstone so a graveyard scene could be created as you can see on the card above.  I tried so hard to make a 'scary' zombie and witch but the harder I tried the cuter they seemed to get!  ... and sad too - don't you just want to lead Zombie Dolly home and give her a good meal (and a bath?!?).

And here is Witch Dolly...

I had to include googly eyes - I'm sorry but Halloween expects googly eyes, just like Christmas expects glitter!

On this stamp set there's also little stand-alone skulls and spiders - the skulls make a great wallpaper feature don't you think?

These stamps and are phrases are going to make great Halloween favours, cards, tags and there's even a little 'spell' for the arty fans of Halloween out there...

Jo Firth-Young Set 84 (JOFY84)

I think this is a stamp set I will reach for a lot.  Sentiments and blocks to match, the text block is sized to fill a standard sized greeting card blank.

I've made 3 samples with this set - showing you ways to use it depending on how much time you have - the lead up to Christmas is busy, you are busy, lists are long and time is precious...

Card 1: a simple card - maybe taking 10 minutes; one layer, one stamped image with white pen detailing.

Card 2: slightly more involved - maybe taking 15-20 minutes; image stamped on background and onto 3 patterned papers (yay for stamping platforms!!), paper pieced with some white pen detailing.

Card 3: complex, maybe taking 30 minutes: card blank stamped with snowflakes (JOFY48, using Snowflake Fresco paint). Snowflakes stamped again onto card painted with a mix of Fresco paints in shades of cool blues, over stamped with the trees/text block (Black Archival). Text block stamped onto a white card panel, centre cut out creating a frame. Trees stamped onto patterned paper and paper-pieced onto the white frame. All assembled as shown in photo below.

I really like shading these trees to give them depth and accent the detail.  Also I really like using patterned papers to create a patchwork/applique effect.

Jo Firth-Young Set 85 (JOFY85)

Up next, skinny trees and spinning snowmen....

Judging by the star above him I think this year's snowman has been built in a snowstorm swirl of magic!!!  ahem, don't tell the other other snowmen but I think this one is my favourite so far!!
I don't always name my snowmen but I'm calling this one Spinny!

I'm handing you over to Leandra and Keren who are my able assistants to wrap up this post with a few more ideas for you to ponder. Keren kicks it off with the Valentines set of stamps...

Hi all, Keren here.
I was so inspired with the JoFY sets- they are so perfect for quick makes or something more substantial. I love that you don't have to overthink, the images make a complete design come together quite quickly.

Jo Firth-Young Set 86 (JOFY86)

JoFY 86 is going to be a really useful set. I just love the text and quote and can see lots of journals decorated with these images. Even if you don't 'do' Valentiney projects, there's plenty to inspire here.

Here's a super quick project using a cork notebook and adding a sewn notebook bookmark. I used some Austen word fabric and hope that Shakespeare and Austen are happy coexisting on the same project! It doesn't look overly love themed but makes a great quick gift.

The JoFY 85 set has a topiary tree (that could be turned into a snowman!) with a big long stem- I wanted a smaller card so just concertinaed the trunk, but you could easily shorten it by chopping a section off at the top of the trunk and reattaching!

I didn't add a sentiment, but I adore the sentiments in JoFY84, so it's definitely worth getting both of these sets.

The second image in the JoFY 85 set reminded me of how most of us feel coming up to Christmas (in a bit of a whirl) ! I do love a bit of fussy cutting and I really wanted to add a cheeky face, but didn't want to spoil Jo's lovely artistry! Again, there's not much that you need to add to the card other than a sentiment so perfect for the batch making that we all seem to need to do as time runs short!

JoFY 84 is nudging to the front for my favourite of the newest sets, and mostly because I'm all about times-aving. My brain said 'yes'! when I realised that Jo had designed a complete card front in one fell swoop. If you've got a stamp positioner, then recreating the same card is going to be a cinch! It's going to look amazing with a painty background or gorgeous heat embossed and watercoloured..so many options!

I'm always looking for simple ideas for a little home décor project and I thought the trees in this set would make cute place cards. Let's hope I can make a few more before Christmas or there will only be 2 of my kids sitting down for lunch!

I hope you get your hands on these new JoFY sets; you won't be disappointed!  ~ Keren

Just a couple of super quickie samples from Leandra to share too...

First up I can see so many ways these boxes intended for text can be used in backgrounds to great effect, especially if you are wanting fast cards, or CAS cards.

Pretty self explanatory, stamp the boxes, a wash of Fresco (Cayenne to be precise), then over-stamp the words. You can see I wasn't even that careful about staying within the lines. (Late night colouring without the good light on! )

Same idea as above, but added effort. Each block painted with Aquamarine, and the little tree and star from the large stamp on JOFY84.

Just adding a little bit of graduation add some interest, I toyed with the idea of setting them vertically, but as I wanted to use the text in one of the boxes, went horizontal as the more logical option. I think it could certainly do with some glitter as a JOFY Christmas tribute!
~ Leandra

I hope these stamps and samples inspire you to start creating for the holidays I've designed for - they are such a lot of fun - don't forget to break our the googly eyes and glitter!  I look forward to seeing what you create.

Thanks to Leandra and Keren for creating gorgeous projects for this blog post ... it's appreciated so much!

Happy holidays!!

Jo
