NEW PaperArtsy Products: September 2019 {Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics}

 Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics
September 2019 New Product Announcement

A note from Leandra:

Hi friends!

We continue with the additions to our Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic collection of paints, where we are changing families of paints from 4's to 6's. Part One of this introduction to the first 10 families of 6 can be seen here, Aug 17, 2019

In this post, I am sharing the details of another 6 families, and we will have 3 more to share late October. Woohooo!

First up we have some gorgeous corals. As colour of the year, it must has wide appeal, but it is nice to have an entire family of them too! Peachy Keen is on the pink side of coral, much lighter than Peach Nectar which has been so popular this past year. And Scottish Salmon - think wild salmon and you are there, deep tones with that orange warmth.

Claret, as the darkest of the group, probably is a bit of a stretch to fit the grouping exactly spot on, but it works for me, and as you might realise, if you added some of the new Cayenne (see the next group) to Claret, you certainly will bring it closer to an orangey-claret!

That is one of the most awesome things about the less-opaque colours; using them to make new shades is lots of fun.  Also in this group, Blood Orange makes a welcome return, those brown tones are handy to have in a shade of red.

 Peachy Keen (Opaque)

Scottish Salmon (Translucent)

Blood Orange (Translucent, returning colour)

And here is the colour card for the Coral-Pink Family:

If I had a pound (£1 - currency!) for the number of times we have been asked for a deep Red. Well, I think we've cracked it - welcome to the family of hotties! (Bright-Warms) Cayenne is a welcome addition as a grunty orange, exactly the colour of powdered cayenne. Red Lipstick is divine, very yummy red, and a really, really nice shade of red it is too!! Both are super handy for colouring or colour mixing, even though translucent, they have a bit more oomph to them than you might expect!. Really not hard to build vibrant layers.

Cayenne (Translucent)

Red Lipstick (Translucent)

Here is the rest of the hottie clan:

We do love a blue, these ones are the gorgeous turquoise variety: Waterfall and Calypso. Has anyone else got that John Denver song whirling around in your head right now...are you trying to yodel yet??? Well, that's your ear worm for today sorted!

Meantime, Waterfall is a delicious cool shade of blue, there is a fresh hint of green to this palette - we have nicknamed them the Grey-turquoise family. Very pretty. Calypso has a wonderful depth to it, and they all sit well with the shade of Pine Grove that Courtney created last year.

Waterfall (Opaque)

Calypso (Opaque)

And the Grey-Turquoise family, very nice indeed:

Next up Neutrals. Here is Truffle, to fit in with the other neutrals so perfectly! Looks like a perfect interior decor paint palette! As you can see from the bottle the truffle colour is actually a tad lighter that my photograph indicates from the paint chart, so hard to get all the colours looking right when you are showing extremes from light to dark...this is why we paint the front of each bottle for you! It's a mid tone cool shade of brown. In these samples I have used it with ALL of its other 5 family buddies.

 Truffle (opaque)

And the whole family...

The 'Brown' family, these are a much warmer grouping. Our newest member is Sand, and no doubt you remember Cloud 9, which was  new in August.

Sand will work so well with the other shades, I must admit, I sometimes struggle when working with warm, autumnal shades, but these colours are very much a necessary part of any colour cheme, and they can look wonderful with Oranges, golden greens and rustic reds, perhaps I should just practise a bit more!!

Sand (Opaque)

Here is the whole family...

The last grouping today are the Soft-Pinks. I found these very hard to photograph, probably because there is quite a range in the family from Blush through to Mulled Wine. Sorbet is a lovely colour, not too pink, not too purple. I like this family as it seems to go so well with many other cool shades: blues, greens and neutrals. Many of these colours are like shades of the velvet or satin that we have seen of late in home decor and fashion recently. I'm sure you will find Sorbet a very useful pink! Everyone likes a bit of Sorbet right???

Sorbet (Opaque)

Here is the wider family...

 Colour Combinations

I've had a little play with various colour combinations. Lets start with the warm corals. This sample is Cayenne, Sand and Peachy Keen. The warmth is divine!

Next up a sneak peek of new Zinskis coming to you in this round of releases. I've used Red Lipstick and Cayenne. You can see the BG is a gel print. Snowflake in the mix there too.

Another Gel Print, this one with another new stamp, I think you will recognise it as a Tracy Scott stamp! Bit of Alison Bomber script there too! Love this gel print!

How about a Sorbet background?? This also has a bit of Truffle in the mix along with a touch of Peachy Keen, it's more raspberry-ish, and you can see it is a soft pink, not bold and bright.

I decided to have a play to see what sort of purples the blues would produce when mixed with the reds! The Moooooory Christmas, another Zinski newbie coming soon, uses Red Lipstick and Waterfall, love how you can get a great purple with ease!

The next combo is using Calypso and Blood Orange, so its a deeper Blue and a deeper Red creating a much deeper purple!! Makes sense right! This image is from a recent Hot Pick.

I really like blue/taupe combos, so here is a new Sara Naumann stamp, again a sneak of what is to come (I'm going to get told off for all these sneaks!) I've used Sand, Truffle and Waterfall with a smattering of Calypso at the edges. The white is just the untouched paper peeking through.

Below we have the neutral browns: Sand, Truffle with a bit of Cloud 9, again a new Sara Christmas stamp - to be revealed in full over the next 2 weeks!

It's fascinating how a few random colours, not really designed to work together specifically, but somehow, they all do! That is a feature of the Fresco paints, because they dry so fast, it is super easy to layer the colours, and not make mud!

Well, where are we heading??? By the New Year of 2020, we will have 19 families of 6's I have numbered all the families on the lines below, and If you are that crazy about Frescos that you want a CLEAR record of what is going on, I suggest you save the family colour-card swatches, and number them as per the info below, put them in number order to see the rainbow of Frescos perfectly revealed!! There is  a masterplan!!!
