Well, it might not quite be the saying, but this lovely piece of art with a Victorian styled vibe is a great example of going with the flow when the first ideas don't quite work out, plus look out for her extra rainbow project!

Hi everyone, it's Corrie with you today, and I'd like to share with you my project which I made for this fabulous topic. It was a bit of a struggle because what I made in the end was not what I had in mind. But sometimes that is how it goes.

After I had two attempts to execute my plan and both landed in the bin, I got a little desperate, lol. So I browsed the internet and found an example of a project that spoke to me. I based my piece on that. In the end I think it worked out OK.  

The process of making this was very enjoyable. I learned that PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic paints are a fantastic base to colour on with coloured pencils. I will now show you how it came together!  

First I painted a piece of paper 7" x 7" with PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics in the colours {Chalk} and {Eggshell}. I used the 7 x 7 because it was meant for the project that didn't work out. In the end I cut it down to 4" x 6". 

 

Next I stamped the flower of the stamp set Hot Pick {HP1109} with a very light ink. I found stamping it in black would make the leaves almost a solid black which I didn't want. I then set to work with my coloured pencils and coloured the image.  

This is what I ended up with.  Next I stamped the background a little, added some paint splatters and some dictionary pieces. 

I doodled around the panel and actually quite liked it. I then got all my courage together and cut it into inchies ! 

I was really scared that I would mess this up. Maybe cut the inchies not straight or something but luckily it all worked out in the end. Now for the base; I needed something to put them on. 

I decided to go with a gel print. I used Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics in the colours : China, Smurf, Blue Oyster and a tiny bit of Magic Moss. I also used a Paperartsy Mask {PM008} by Emma Godfrey and stamps from Hot Pick sets HP1109 and HP1110 to add more interest. 

This is what I ended up with.I added some more stencilling with the Chalk paint and the same mask. I thought it needed a bit more white. 

So, this is it. I roughed up the edges of the gelli print, added a white doodle line and then adhered it to a piece of thick card stock {Smoothy Heavy Card Stock}. I arranged the inchies on top and glued them down using dimensional tape. I then stamped the moth {HP1109} and coloured him with my pencils and cut him out. I think he looks great there. Lastly I added a chit chat sticker by Tim Holtz. 

I was quite disappointed still, that I couldn't do what I wanted to do so I made a bonus project with Twinchies; it is a little accordion book. I love how this turned out, in fact I like it better than my main project! 

I cut and folded the black book first, I used a normal card stock. I then cut 11 twinchies out or white card stock PaperArtsy Smoothy card and gel printed them. I used lots of colours of the Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylics for this: Smurf, China, Blue Oyster, Magic Moss, Cheesecake, Zesty Zing, Tangerine Twist, Autumn Fire, London Bus, Wisteria and Purple Rain.   I also used the same stamps and stencil as for the main project to add interest to the squares.

This is the front of the book. I decided to use some of my Tim Holtz rub-ons which I have had in my stash for ages. I used a variety of stamps from the Hot Picks HP1109 and HP1110 again to decorate the squares with. 

Some were left quite plain because I didn't think they needed much more then a sentiment. 

Others I coloured in the stamped images and added some doodling too. 

This handsome chap was stamped on book page paper and coloured with coloured pencils. 

I went with rainbow colours for the backgrounds because they always work, I think. 

This was a fun project to make and I think the rainbow colours look so good together. 

Making Inchies and Twinchies is great fun and what I learned is that it doesn't really matter what size your stamps are, you can still use them, or parts of them, on these tiny projects. Because the are so small they are not as intimidating as a large journal page for instance. I also still really enjoy gel printing and must do it more often ! 

I hope you enjoyed my post and will have a go yourself at making inchies and/or twinchies. Think of 4 inchies as a focal point on a card for instance ! Or, make an inchie or twinchie a day for a month and put them all together in a frame. So many ideas !
