Hi everyone, it's Nikki with you today from Addicted to Art and
I am very happy to be here sharing some designs with yesterday's new
release from Courtney Franich. As you hopefully saw yesterday there are
three new wonderful stamp sets which work beautifully together or on
their own.
My
first sample features the great 'Half a Man' stamp from ECF09 combined
with the quote from ECF07. On this design I have only used parts of
stamps - cutting out the elements I wanted once stamped. These stamp
sets are ideal for this - use the entire stamped image or just one part.
I love a stamp that can be used in different ways and isn't a 'one
trick pony'!
I have more details on how I created the background and used my Fresco Acrylic Paints at the end of this post.
I also made some card A6 cards, again layering and combining images.
This
bright background was created using a credit card to swipe various
paints. The main image is embossed with white embossing powder, for
extra impact. I added some extra elements from other stamps including
words from the quote stamp used above.
The
second design is similar but different! Again the main feature stamp is
overlaid with elements of others. The black inked matt layer is created
by just randomly stamping a few different stamps from the sets. (Love a
stamp that makes a background too!)
The theme running through these sets is crocheted textures. I have used one of them for the grey stamped background above (Watering Can Archival ink) and you can see I have also stamped in Sepia Archival and punched out the circles as accents on both cards.
For the cards and the 6 inch board I used the same range of Fresco Acrylic paints: Blue Lagoon, Eggplant, Bougainvillea, Tango and Banana
are all either semi opaque or Transparent. Blue Oyster, Lilac, Blah
Mange, Butter and Chalk are opaque. This allowed me to layer my colours
with my brayer to create backgrounds and layers, sometimes tone on tone
and other times with contrasting colours.
These
brayered strips were the starting point for the 6 inch panel. I stamped
each one with various stamps from Courtney's sets in a complementary
ink colour to the painted surface, before tearing into strips.
I then layered them with matt medium starting at the bottom of a 6 inch greyboard panel. I added some splatters with Little Black Dress Fresco Acrylic and also added the same paint with my finger around the edge to frame the piece.
Some more brayered card - I used Smoothy Heavyweight card - to stamp my images and words. The pink background contains the tiny script stamp from ECF09.
I hope I have shown how versatile these stamps are: on their own, with others, foreground, background, whole or chop 'em up!
This is gorgeous Nikki

ReplyDeleteBrilliant work with these gorgeous new stamps, Nikki - I love the contrasting colour layers in the postmark panels (oh, those postmark collages!), and the dapper line up of chaps is very cool.
