Hi everyone, Jo Firth-Young here

I've been so looking forward to sharing with you my newest release for PaperArtsy. There are 3 stamps with coordinating stencils.  More 'big blooms' along with some smaller details stamps - I like these because they can be poked in around the big flowers or, of course, used on their own.

With big flowers comes bright colours!  At the moment I'm loving bright pink; always have but at the moment its front and centre, with coral !! I do still like an uncluttered background and these big stamps allow that, which you'll see later on with my samples.

For this release announcement, I've made cards and art journal spreads (in two sizes) to give you an ideas on the versatility of these designs.

  New Stamps

JoFY Collection Set 77 (JoFY77)

I adore these flowers painted in shades of pink - they're so lush & juicy!  One of my favourite ways of colouring them and adding detail/shading is to paint the entire flower and shade using coloured pencils.  You can see the rest of this project down at the bottom of this post.

JoFY Collection Set 78 (JoFY78)

This stamp set is really useful - a nice border stamp, cute little doodle ovals and a lovely loose flower. AND, that stand alone circle is the 'centre' for the flower.  I created a separate stamp so that the flower image doesn't need to be stamped twice to get a second centre that can be 3D mounted. AND its a nice image on its own! win win

The flower looks like its moving in a breeze doesn't it! It looks great as one single layer but its really interesting when doubled up as in the photo below...I'd like to make a sample with 3 layers - I think it would start to look like a dahlia (and whats not to like about dahlias!).

How cute are the doodle ovals??!!!  They make a great background when stamped and embossed in white!

JoFY Collection Set 78 (JoFY78)

Its been a while since I designed a butterfly stamp - and big flowers need a big butterfly! I designed a coordinating stencil/mask for this so it can be coloured and shaded easily. The colours used in this sample are Sea Glass and Squid Ink - what a great colour combo!!

PaperArtsy Stencil 138 (PS138)

I think this is going to be a much used stencil - great for a feature pattern (as above) or as a background image.

PaperArtsy Stencil 139 (PS139)

This is such a fun stencil!!  Its a stencil version of the doodle ovals on JOFY78 - they don't match up they simply compliment each other... I really like how the stencil allow you to create your own doodle - image these with gold doodling!!

PaperArtsy Stencil 140 (PS140)

This stencil features the butterfly mask/stencil and also a really nice border.  I designed it so it could be used on page edges, as above, and has space for doodling - I'm seeing there's a theme coming through with this release - if in doubt doodle on it!
I like doodling onto images because it can help break them up, make them look less bulky & more delicate.

Project One: 21x42cm Journal Spread

Intro: I've made a journal spread (in the medium (square) Dylusions journal) for this project using JOFY77, JOFY79, and stencil PS138.

I started with a wash of colour across the background as a base for all the details.  I flicked paint on to the surface to break up the white.  Next I stenciled PS138 onto the left hand page in Sea Glass and let it dry.  When it was dry I doodled onto the petals.  I also scribbled words using a white gel pen - love how this looks on a background - it doesn't need to be legible (sometimes I prefer it when its not).

I added lengths of washi tape to create a sort of ground line for the stems from JOFY79 to be stamped onto.  You can see them here behind one of the big flowers from JOFY77.

The big flowers were created by painting a colour puddle (got to love a colour puddle!) and stamping on top - this is when a stamp platform comes in VERY handy!  I 3d mounted the centres to give a bit of depth/texture.

Project Two: Small Journal Spread (25x20cm)

Intro: I've made another art journal spread, this time in the small Dylusion journal because I wanted to show how these stamps and stencils can be used on a variety of sizes of substrate.

I like white space on my art journal spreads but sometimes that white space doesn't have to be white - it can just be open space, as these pages show.  The entire background is painted in Dusty Teal but there's lots of space between the elements which are arranged in little clusters.

On this layout I used the flower and border from JOFY78, the smaller flowers from JOFY77 and stencil PS140.  Its nice to see how these 3 things can work together.
