2018 #21 Matchbox Art: Wall hanging with LPC {by Etsuko Noguchi}

 2018 Topic 21: Matchbox Art

As if you haven't been spoiled enough throughout this topic so far, Etsuko is back with another stunning post, in her truly wonderful, imaginative way. ~Leandra

Hi everyone, it's Etsuko My Favorite Things with you today, My last post of this year and I'd like to share with you my favorite; Lynne Perrella's stamps and the fabulous theme of Matchbox Art. More wonderful samples and videos which you can see PaperArtsy Blog is here. Lynne's new three collections are very beautiful ancient Egypt images. I think these stamps are very flexible, of course to use as the focal point and take apart to college too. Tonight I did use the stamps for the matchboxes wings and tops and I used shrink plastic for the king's faces because the matchbox is smaller than these stamps.

First of all I painted with Inktense watercolor pencil by stamped Lynne's images on the heavyweight white stamping card.

Then scanned and imported images into Photoshop and set the opacity of the image to (75 to 50%) and print on inkjet shrink plastic with inkjet printer.

Cut the shrink plastic and bake until it stops shrinking with the oven toaster. The degree of shrinkage is about 50-60%, I recommend baking samples beforehand.

Also I made the matchbox by regular white stamping card. (Printed on it)
Box size is...length : 5.5cm, width : 3.5cm, depth : 1.5cm.

Next I made box's wings and tops. I painted with Gold and Copper Fresco in heavyweight white stamping card then these papers dried I stamped Lynne's images by VersaMark Pad with embossing powders.

After these accessories were completed, I painted each box and set them. The resin was applied on the shrink plastics.

Although the first idea was only the matchboxes, but I was not satisfied by that alone and I made the background frame and let it hang on the wall. I printed Lynne's images on the regular A4 white stamp card and I used Grunge Paste  randomly with some stencils and when it dried I sprinkled Infusions. After that I did white washed and repeatedly painted Treasure Gold. Then attached die-cut upper part.

These are details of matchboxes on the frame.

I added Alison Bomber's quote stamp EAB01.

I really like the shadowbox of making the small world with shrink plastic and it was a wonderful opportunity for me to have this project with my favorite Lynne Perrella's stamps.
Hope you've enjoy the project. If you have chance to make matchbox art please to link it up in the PaperArtsy Blog challenge. I'm so looking forward to seeing your fabulous art work.
Thank you so much stopping by!!

  1. Oh wow, Etsuko - this is magical... like a treasure trove with three separate treasure chambers - you might be making your way through a burial chamber uncovering amazing new discoveries as you go. I love the clever reversing and shrinking of the images, so beautifully coloured too. And all the embossed texture is really cool. Fabulous!
