2015 #13 There are clocks in my garden! {by Leandra Franich}

 2015 Topic 13: Time

Hi everyone, Leandra here, joining you this evening with a journal spread all about cultivating clock flowers. Yes not something you do everyday, but my journal has seen square flowers already this year, so a few clocks in the garden won't go amiss!

Today I have had a lovely day demoing paints and stamps at Birds in the Barn, just up the A12 from us. I managed to complete this journal page, and so I thought I'd take a few minutes to share it with you, as it fits the current theme perfectly!

Step One: I started by using cool blues and pink Frescos in the background, and then stencilled with Emma's stencil PS016.

Next I added some stamping in jet black archival with the new Hot Picks...On the left page is HP1508 and HP1503...

And on the right page is HP 1504 bottom right... and HP1501 top left

Touches of colour were added with translucent shades of paint to enhance the collaged stamp images.

Step Two: I brayered a pices of smoothy in various shades of brown, onto which I stamped lots of the clock stamps from HP1502, and then cut them out.

Step Three: I drew stalks and leaves, journalled in white around them, stuck them in position, and added some shading.

Step Four: Lastly, onto the same brown paper I stamped Clare Lloyds lovely girl From ECL03. Added some colour to her face and eyes, and then extended her clothes into a dress for speed! Layered up more clock and collaged images onto her to 'ground' the collage.

Here is a close up of the face and hair details...

The finishing touch was a few white dots with the sharpie paint pen. And of course some shading in blue around the girl to make her stand off the background a little.

Please note, all Hot Picks are brand new and therefore available from a retailer near you now, see this post for stockists.

PS. If you fancy a trip to Birds in the Barn, Lin Brown will be there next weekend demoing her new stamps and teaching classes all weekend. Call Janet for details.

Hope you are having a lovely weekend...we are truly spoiled for indulgent options tomorrow with the final day of both the Brentwood Festival (a beer festival turned into a music festival) on the fields at the Brentwood Centre, and the Essex Food Festival at Cressing Temple Barns, near Braintree. (oh those silly English  place names are quite bonkers!!)

We would love you to join in with challenge #13:Time. If you are inspired by any of our guests who blog with us over the fortnight, then please join in and link up your creativity HERE.
