Hi everyone, Jo Firth-Young here to introduce my newest stamps.
I'm going to show you a few samples I have made with the new stamps, and also projects from a small group of creatives (that I affectionately call 'teamJoFY') who have joined me to show you their ideas too, more of that later
First up, there is of course a video from Leandra showing all my new stamps, and many of the samples below in real life. You may like to read the post first, then come back to watch the video. Don't forget, that each of my assistant art-sample makers will also have blog posts showing in better detail how they made their supporting samples.
In particular could you be sure to drop by Anneke's blog. We only single her out because (as you know) snow means slow post, and between Belgium and PA HQ, there has been a lot of that in the last 2 weeks!! Anneke sent her art TO PAHQ in plenty of time, but sadly the samples did not arrive, even by this morning! So Leandra sadly didn't get to show you any of her stuff in the video.

This release of stamps came about from using the existing stamps... one design inspires another.... and I was stamping flowers on a canvas one day and thought 'wouldn't it be nice if the flowers were behind a fence..' and 'what this grass needs is some bugs.. and bees!'.
So this time I wanted to design stamps that would compliment and widen the use of the existing stamps.
I'm often asked where I get the inspiration for stamps - well it comes from everywhere - design magazines (fabrics, textures), gardens (flowers!!), and buildings - I take quick snapshot photos all the time - thank goodness for camera phones!

Here are the my new JOFY stamps...
First up is a set with a 'house' theme... including the fence I mentioned.
The minis...

The Limited Edition Paints...
Lets take a look at the projects we made using these new stamps...
Think Outside the Box and Dream by Jo Firth-Young
This project uses JM47, JOFY29 stamps & the new JOFY Limited Edition Frescos. The other paints I used are Chalk and Slate which were previously JOFY Limited Editions but are now included in the main range of Frescos- this makes me happy as they are my two of my 'go-to' colours.
The substrate is a 8x8in chipboard panel, covered in text paper (Prima A4 pad) which was given a heavily diluted coat of Chalk to knock back the text a little.
The first thing I do when putting a project together is gather all/most the elements together and lay them roughly in position so I can see if it works, what else is needed and is the placement right. In my mind I can visualise how the background is going to painted and stamped.
The image on the tag is new mini JM47.
Then I start to add colour - on the board I roughly painted a block using shades of Jade and Buff.
Then I added stamped honeycomb (JOFY30) - I can see me using this stamp A LOT! Its a great background stamp for all kinds of themes and hexagons are on trend at the moment (I love the way they tessellate! Mother Nature is so clever!).
NB I wasn't too concerned by the 'messy' over-stamping - this would be covered by the feature tag.
The tag is stamped in Archival black ink and painted a blend of Slate and Jade, and the spots are Prawn - again for a bit of 'pop'.
I painted all the elements I die-cut from kraft card and corrugated card. I painted the scribble circles in Prawn - this is a great pop of contrast to the Jade background. I mixed it with Buff so each of the scribbles were a slightly different tone. I roughly cut 2 circles of book text to cover the centre of the circles, just for added visual texture on the board.
The word 'dream' is painted in Slate - a nice, soft, alternative to black. I die cut this word from corrugated card so it has more depth on the surface of the canvas.
Once I had stuck everything down onto the board (Matte Medium for the words and scribbles, 3d foam for the tag) I painted hexagons in different shades of Jade & Southern Skies. I also covered up 'dream' and splashed the whole board canvas with diluted Chalk paint and then again with Buff - to messy the surface a little.
Busy Busy Busy by Jo Firth-Young
Paint a 3x5 box canvas with a mix of Chalk and Yellow Submarine. Dry brush Chalk around the edges.
Stamp 'the hum of bees...' (JM44) in the centre of the canvas (black Archival).
Randomly stamp honeycomb (use brown Archival ink) over the canvas.
Stamp 2 small and 3 large bees onto Smoothy. Colour and cut out. Attach to the canvas using 3d foam, Matte Medium and for the airborne bee use wire secured with a button.

Home is where the Heart is by Jo Firth-Young
Here's how I created this small panel:
I used a 4x4in chipboard panel, with a die cut heart of printed paper, and the colours shown above (Buff, Prawn, Chalk - and although the photo shows Orchid I actually didn't use it in the end). The stamps used are JM42 and the bricks from JOFY29 (another useful background stamp).
I painted the panel from 2 sides - starting with Chalk & Buff on the left, brushing it top to bottom moving from left to right and then working in a similar manner from the right hand side with Prawn - this creates the fade effect.
I stenciled across the board the opposite way - starting Prawn on the left fading to Chalk on the right.
I dragged around the heart and the board with black Archival ink.
I stamped bricks repeatedly down the board across the heart. Stamped the words partially onto the words too. I wasn't happy with the bricks and so I die cut another heart, coloured the edges, cut in half and laid in place over the original. Much better.
I painted the bricks with Buff and Chalk. I painted a panel of Smoothy card with Platinum paint, stamped 2 keys (JOFY29)cut them out. I punched a hole in the board, added an eyelet and tied on the keys with a length of fine string.
This is one of my new stencil designs. I used Jade mixed with Chalk for the entire stencil and then added shading with neat Jade, finishing with pen detail.
These are the stamps I planned to use, laid out to see how they look with the beehive (JOFY30) that I've already stamped (and coloured) onto text paper. The letters are JOFY21, flowers from JOFY22, JOFY23.
I stamped them onto the board with black Archival ink & painted with Chalk which is opaque so it blocks out the background colour ready for colouring in the gorgeous new Prawn.
After I had stamped and coloured the stencil design and the stamped images (in the photo above) I dry brushed the centre section of the board with Chalk again - knocking the stencil design back again. The flowers are painted with Prawn, Chalk and Yellow Submarine.
I stamped and painted a few bees (using 2nd generation stamping for the bees in the centre). The lines are drawn with a pencil so that the lines aren't too harsh.
I attached the beehive and word 'busy' with glue, painted the big bee's wings with pearl glaze for a touch of glimmer.
I wanted to create a list board that could be used repeatedly and so I covered the board in clear sticky back plastic, pressing it down with a roller and cutting to size.

Busy Bees 'to-do' clipboard by Jo Firth-Young
This simple project combines new stamps with previous sets- I wanted to show you how nicely they work together.
I like a list. I nice 'to-do' list to make sense of the day - sometimes on note-paper sometimes in a book - I thought I'd create a wipe clean board for those lists so I always know where they are and what I have planned.
The board is made of thin MDF, and is 15x24cm in size. I like working on MDF - is a lovely surface to paint onto, somepeople like to seal the surface with gesso but with Fresco Finish paints I find its not necessary.
I painted the board with a layer of Chalk (to hide the brown of the MDF and help with the blending of the colours. I applied Hey Pesto around the edges and Chalk and Buff in the centre blending them together. I then dry brushed Chalk all over the surface. I wanted to keep the surface quite light in the centre because I'll be writing on it.

And now for some great ideas from 'Team JOFY '
The first up for Team JoFY is Kay Carley ( http://kaycarley.blogspot.co.uk ). Kay always creates lovely projects and cards with my JOFY stamps, using predominately inks and Copic pens.
House and Garden
Kay used images from JOFY29, JM43 (mini tools and bird table) and JM24 (mini beach hut). Stamp images onto white cardstock using black Memento ink. Colour all the imagery with Copics and cut out. Continually stamp the fence across the top of a 9.5 x 20cm Salt Dotted Swiss Bazzill panel using black Memento ink and colour with Copics. Cut out around the top of the fence using scissors then colour the ground area with a selection of Copic markers in order to denote grass. Stick this panel to a corresponding opening card. From the Dotted Swiss cardstock cut out a path and some stepping stones/rocks and add some shading with Warm Grey Copics. Stamp ‘welcome’ onto the largest rock. Position each of the components onto the card and stick into place. Sparingly add some glitter glue to some of the elements if desired.
Tint a 10.5cm² panel with Mustard Seed and Wild Honey distress inks then randomly stamp the honeycomb with Wild Honey and black Memento. Randomly stamp the honeycomb with Wild Honey onto the front of an 11cm² folded white card. Centrally attach the tinted panel to this card and use a fine black pen to doodle around the edge of the panel. On a separate piece of cardstock sponge Mustard Seed and Wild Honey, flick with water then when dry randomly stamp the honeycomb with Wild Honey. Stamp the small hexagon 3 times onto this panel and cut around each one. Stamp ‘bee happy’ with black Memento onto one of the hexagons then arrange them onto the panel and stick into place. Stamp the beehive and small bees onto white cardstock, colour with Copics and cut out. Tint the beehive with Mustard Seed then arrange this and the bees onto the card and stick into place. Sparingly add yellow and Diamond glitter glue if desired.

Keren Baker ( kerenbaker.wordpress.com ) has created really fun, striking cards using the stamps.. though the 'bug' card may worry those of you who don't like creepy crawlies, but don't worry they're JOFY bugs and so are very friendly.
This Day
Using the colours, water down and brush using a large brush onto the Smoothy piece. Allow to sit on the card for a few seconds and then dab some of the excess off with kitchen roll to create an effect in places. Leave to dry. Stamp the sentiment on top of the painted part. Using Chalk Fresco, paint carefully inside the larger letters and the tick boxes.
Critters
Stamp the hexagons onto Smoothy. Cut out the insides of each shape. Go around the edges with watered down colours to give a watercolour effect. Stamp, trim out and paint the bugs. Add metallic glaze over parts of the bugs to give a shine. On a slightly larger panel, stamp the bricks from the other set so it looks like a wall- leave spaces without brick so it doesn't look too regimented. Use Slate, slightly watered down and with a dryish brush.
Stamp the grass from the gate stamp on some Smoothy. Paint with Hey Pesto/Yellow Sub and then cut out just the grass. Attach to the reverse of the front panel so it protrudes above the apertures.
Position the bugs so that some are behind the front panel and some attached underneath. Add foam pads to each big to give dimension. Attach top panel with 3D foam pads and add an uneven green painted line around the edge.
Busy Bees
Stamp the honeycomb once and then upside down, close to the first stamping. Paint with Yellow Submarine & Hey Pesto, mixing in a little Hey Pesto to give darker shades of yellow. Fill in the centre between the two honeycombs to make it look like one joined piece. Add Metallic Glaze over some of the hexagons and also Gloss Glaze to help pick elements out.
Stamp, cut out and trim the bee. Add yellow & yellow/green to it. Add some Yellow watered down to the wings and paint over a thicker layer of Metallic Glaze to make the wings look more transparent. Add Gloss Glaze to where his eyes are and mount onto the panel with foam pads.
Paint a strip on the left with Hey Pesto & then cover with Metallic Glaze. Add a thin strip of white Smoothy to add dimension over the Hey Pesto strip.
New Home
Water down some Yellow Sub, added Metallic Glaze to it & pop into a spray bottle. Spray over the card towards the upper right. Stamp the images in black (Memento Tuxedo black)- overlapping the keys. Paint in the details- for the body of the keys, I watered down some Slate & added Metallic Glaze to give shine. Dry brush some Southern Skies onto a thin piece of Smoothy and added that to the left.
Anneke de Clerck ( http://somefiddlingonthekitchentable.blogspot.co.uk ), is next up for TeamJOFY, I like how she combines clean and simple with distress effects - such as the crackles on the kraft cards and her use of colour.
Patchwork House
For the background I punched inchies out of painted paper. I stamped the house, tree and fence on vintage book paper and cut out. Coloured the prints with Chalk, Buff and Yellow Submarine.
Jade card
I made a crackled background with Slate and Chalk. Stamped with black Archival ink and coloured the print (JM 46) with Jade

Busy Bumbling Around
I painted a circle with Yellow Submarine, Jade, Hey Pesto, Orchid and Prawn. I overstamped the circle with a lid and the bee.
And last, but not least, is Helen Chilton ( http://helenchilton.blogspot.co.uk ), who always uses colour in a fabulous way - just look at the sunset on her first project!
Sunset House
Cut a panel of mount board, mask off a sun paint the board using Yellow Submarine and Prawn paint. Remove mask and colour sun lightly. Stamp the house onto card twice and paint one with Buff. Paint the roof, windows and door with Jade, Yellow Submarine and Prawn respectively, cut out and layer up onto Buff house. Stamp lots of trees and paint in Hey Presto. Cut out and arrange on panel. Add white highlights.
Street Scene
Paint a panel of mount board with Snowflake and then Jade paint. Stamp 'welcome' in Snowflake. Stamp three houses in black and colour with Prawn, Yellow Submarine and Hey Pesto, keeping the paint quite watery. Stamp the windows in white onto black card, cut out and stick to houses. Stamp, paint and cut out three pieces of fence and add to houses. Stamp the text in white onto black card and cut out and stick down.
