NEW {2015} PaperArtsy Products: Eclectica - Sara Naumann

Hi everyone, Sara Naumann here to introduce my newest stamps.

Tonight I'm going to show you a few samples I have made with the new stamps, and I have a couple of other people who have joined me to show you their ideas too, more of that later.

I’d like to say I had lofty ambitions when it came to designing these but frankly, my biggest motivator was my never-ending wish for quote stamps! (I am a fiend for quote stamps.) I also wanted large-ish images that would match. And then, of course, we all love having extra accent and texture pieces for interest, right? Basically, I wanted a stamp set—okay, 4 stamp sets—that would make it easy to create a coordinated design so I could focus my time and energy on different techniques, rather than searching my studio for elements that would look good together.

Like most people who design product, I have an idea in my head of what I’d make with it. This time, I am also inspired to see what the PaperArtsy designers came up with. You’ll see their pieces as you read—wow!

One last bit before I let you go: It’s always a great experience to work with PaperArtsy. I’m kind of obsessive (well, more than “kind of”) when it comes to good quality and delivering the best possible product to you…and PaperArtsy is one of the companies I can trust to do this. Thank you to Leandra and Mark!

Here's the video from Leandra...

Okay, let’s look at the stamps…

ESN16
So lets see what you can make with these...

PROJECT 1: By the Stars, by Sara Naumann featuring ESN13

1. Shake the bottle of Lake Wanaka Fresco Finish well, then drizzle a loop of paint directly onto a piece of white cardstock, moving in a circular motion. Repeat with Beach Hut Fresco Finish. Let dry.

2. Stamp “by the stars and moonlight” in black at the bottom right. Use a cosmetic wedge to add Beach Hut Fresco Finish along the edges of the cardstock.

3. Use a cut 'n' dry foam (or foam wedge) to apply Beach Hut Fresco Finish paint to the star and stamp onto white cardstock.

4. Sprinkle a portion of the star image with gold embossing powder and heat-set. Cut out, leaving a border around the edges.

5. For the card assembly: Add the star to the painted background with foam tape. Mount on the card blank, then add a knotted piece of green ribbon as shown.

PROJECT 2: Bloom, by Sara Naumann featuring ESN14

1. Use a brayer to apply Guacamole Fresco Finish across white cardstock.

2. Let dry, then use a stipple brush to apply a watery mix of Beach Hut Fresco Finish paint.

3. Use a cosmetic wedge to apply Beach Hut Fresco Finish to the script stamp and the lines; stamp as shown.

4. Paint a piece of cardstock with Vanilla Fresco Finish and stamp the large flower with Jet Black Archival. Let dry, then cut out.

5. Paint a piece of cardstock with Guacamole Fresco Finish, turn over and stamp two petals of the large flower on the back (the unpainted) side. Cut out and ink around the outside edge with black. These are your leaves.

6. Paint a piece of cardstock with Beach Hut Fresco Finish paint and stamp and emboss the small flower with gold. Cut out.

7. Stamp bloom on Vanilla-painted cardstock and use a cosmetic wedge to apply Beach Hut around the edges.

8. For the card assembly: Mount the brayered background on black card. Add three gold brads at the top right. Glue to a card base. Use foam tape to assemble the flower, placing the small flower on top of the large and the leaves at the bottom. Add a vintage button in the flower center and a bow tied in gold cord. Stamp “bloom” on Vanilla-painted card, add Beach Hut Fresco Finish to the edges, then attach with foam tape.

PROJECT 3: Take Flight, by Sara Naumann featuring ESN15

1. Use a brush to paint a vertical and a horizontal stripe of Vanilla across white cardstock. Let dry, then paint smudges of Guacamole Fresco Finish. Add dabs of Lake Wanaka.

2. Let dry, then use black ink to stamp “take flight”. Use a stipple brush to spatter the cardstock with watery Guacamole Fresco Finish. Edge all four sides of the cardstock with Guacamole Fresco Finish.

3. Stamp and emboss the bird with black embossing powder. Cut out the bird. Stamp and emboss a second time and cut out only the wing. Use foam tape to attach it to the bird body, slightly offset.

4. For the card assembly: Mat the cardstock on grey card, then glue to the card front. Attach the bird to the card front as shown, adding a self-adhesive pearl to the eye and a knot of green silk ribbon to the wings.

PROJECT 4: Simply Beautiful, featuring ESN16

1. Use a brush to paint Sherbet Fresco Finish on white cardstock. Let dry, then use a stipple brush to spatter with watery Spanish Mulberry Fresco Finish.

2. Stamp and emboss Paris along the top left, using gold. Repeat to add Carte Poste at the top right, script at the bottom right and the small script at the bottom left.

3. Stamp and emboss the woman in brown, then stamp and emboss “simply beautiful” in black.

4. Use a cosmetic wedge to add Spanish Mulberry Fresco Finish on the edges of the cardstock.

5. For the card assembly: Mount the stamped piece on kraft cardstock, then onto the card base. Tie a knot in green silk ribbon and glue as shown.

Want to see more? Check out the fabulous designs from these talented stampers!

Before you scroll some more, I’ve got to give special recognition to the designers whose work you’ll see here. I feel superlucky to have such accomplished artists using my stamps. Each one of these ladies is recognized in the industry for her talents and abilities. They teach, design for manufacturers and magazines, plus create and develop their own unique techniques. A massive thank-you to them all for sharing their talents here.

Julie Ann Lee from Magpieheaven
I love how Julie Ann adds just that little extra touch of detail to these projects: Stars made with shrink plastic? Love it! Make your own washi tape? Brilliant use of that stripey stamp!

By the Stars and Moonlight, featuring ESN13
I used a background of corrugated card with Treasure Gold Classic and stamped with paint. The little stars are stamped onto shrink plastic and sprinkled with a little gold UTEE.

Simply Beautiful, featuring ESN16
I love the haute-couture theme of these stamps. I created my own washi tape to give the impression of dress swatches, using Sara’s highly adaptable stripy stamp.

Anneke De Clerck from Some Fiddling on the Kitchen Table
I bet you’ve seen Anneke’s work in Craft Stamper magazine—me too. I learn something from her every single time, so I’m especially pleased she’s sharing her work here! (Sadly Anneke's art is still stuck in the postal delivery system on its way to HQ, so her samples have not made it into the summary video, such a shame, they are fabulous)

The Earth Laughs in Flowers, featuring ESN14
I applied three layers to the background: gesso, Guacamole Fresco Finish and a wash of Snowflake Fresco Finish. I overstamped the background with Snowflake and Archival Ink Leaf Green. I coloured the flower with a wash of Sherbet and Spanish Mulberry Fresco Finish.

Believe You Can, featuring ESN15
I glued the letters (Memory Box die) to the background and added two layers of tissue paper on top with gel medium. I coloured the tissue paper with paint and water in a dripping technique.

Wanda Hentges from Art by Wanda
Wanda adds some fabulous colour and shine to her projects—her work is so fun and cheerful, just perfect for the theme of these stamps. Wanda is a published designer and instructor, and I’m so glad she joined us here!

Bloom, featuring ESN14 and ESN15
Here you see a painted, stamped, and splattered corrugate in the background with washi tape along the bottom and for the flower stem. For the flower, I cut off 2 petals and attached them offset from the other 3 petals to create a different flower. “Bloom” is stamped with paint and I love that shadow around the letters it automatically created!

Earth Laughs, featuring ESN14
I coated the panel with Grunge Paste, stamped into it with the flower, painted over it with a mix of paint and glaze, then wiped it back, added stamping and Treasure Gold. The flowers are stamped onto painted Smoothy, cut out, with chunky glitter added to the centers.

Alison Hall from Craftytrogs Inky Adventures
I am swooning over Alison’s collaged backgrounds—I love how she combined so many of the accent stamps to create such a unified look. Alison is a super talented designer, and instructor and I’m really delighted she could share her work here.

Bloom, featuring ESN14
I created a collaged background, using torn stamped and painted papers, added tissue tape and some more background stamping. Then I stamped the flowers, cut them out and glued them in place, adding some words and painty dots to finish.

Believe You Can, featuring ESN15
This piece is also created with torn stamped and painted papers. The bird is repeated for extra interest and the quote is cut into two parts and placed on opposite corners.

Lynne Moncrieff from  Adorn
Lynne is an accomplished stamper who creates fabulous mixed media art, mostly featuring a vintage twist. I love, love, love her use of colour and texture! She is a Stampington regular contributor, and her designs are always composed beautifully.

Star Tag, featuring ESN13
I played with the words and sentiments on ESN13 to create my own phrase. The background was created by applying Grunge Paste randomly through sequin waste and adding torn pieces of painted vintage lace to create texture.

Bird Hanging, featuring ESN15
The substrate is Grey-White Board, cut into half with jump rings attaching the two pieces. To form the background I stamped with paint as well as ink. The bird's wing was stamped multiple times, then cut in half to create a scallop edge.
