Hi everyone, Liz Borer here to introduce my newest stamps. Tonight I'm going to show you a few samples I have made with the new stamps, and I have a couple of other people who have joined me to show you their ideas too, more of that later.
Here is the video from Leandra, then read on to learn more about the stamps and what you can do with them.
Here is the video from Leandra, then read on to learn more about the stamps and what you can do with them.
My stamps are inspired by the Art Nouveau style which I have always loved. My particular inspiration is the art work of Alphonse Mucha who designed many posters in the early 20th century. These are beautiful and often coloured with pastel colours including beautiful women and floral designs.
This is the second set of stamps I have designed in the same style. Although the first two plates were more wintery in design, they could also be used with the new plates. The flowers in the new plates would work very well with the fairies in the original plates.
For the following samples I have used a mixture of the four new purple – blue paints and yellows (Pumpkin Soup and Haystack). I love these new purple paints and this colour combination is very reminiscent of spring flowers and so seems appropriate for the time of year.
These are very feminine and pretty designs which could be used to make cards and home décor items for little girls or grown up girls alike!
The stamps...
So lets see what you can make with these.
Then rub Purple Rain around the edges of the board using Cut and Dry foam. Stamp and emboss the poppies with white embossing powder.
Project One: Arch by Liz Borer using EEB05
Step One:
Base coat a piece of board with a cream colour made by mixing a little Pumpkin Soup with Nougat. Scrunch up a wet wipe and pick up a little Wisteria and rub the paint over the background in swirling motions. Repeat with Lavender and then with the cream mix.
Step Two: Then rub Purple Rain around the edges of the board using Cut and Dry foam. Stamp and emboss the poppies with white embossing powder.
Paint the cardboard arch with Lavender and rub some Blueberry around the outside edges to darken the colour. Stamp and emboss with gold the spiky flower around the edge of the frame. Paint a piece of stamping card with the cream colour and use black archival ink to stamp the image of the lady on to the card. Cut the card to fit under the arch so that the image of the lady fits neatly in the aperture.
Step Four:
Stamp the lady several times on to card that has been painted with the cream colour mix and cut out the flowers so that they can be used for decoupage. In the picture you can see that I have cut out one image of the lady so that this can be decoupaged over her image. The flowers and lady have been painted with a variety of the new purple paints and her scarf was painted with a wash of Pumpkin Soup. A very small amount of thinned Eggplant was washed over random areas of the flowers to add colour. The perfume bottle was stamped onto a piece of card painted with Blueberry using gold and white embossing powder.
And finally, lace and crocheted ribbon were stuck across the lower part of the base board and then the arch was attached to the base board and the individual flowers were stuck in place using dimensional glue to the image of the lady. The perfume bottles were cut out and attached as shown and paper flowers were stuck as shown to finish the design.
Project Two: Yellow Floral Medley by Liz Borer using EEB06
Step One:
Again using a mix of Pumpkin Soup and Nougat, paint a 5“ x 7” piece of board. When dry stamp the flourish down the short sides of the board.
Step Two:
Use the cream paint to colour some more board and some stamping card and stamp the image of the lady and the flower as shown on to the board. Stamp the flower 3 or 4 times onto the painted cardstock. Cut out the image of the lady and the flower as shown and cut out the flowers on the card so that they can be used as embellishments. The flowers and the face were coloured with the four new purple paints and Pumpkin Soup and Hey Pesto. By adding Eggplant to Pumpkin Soup a darker yellow was made for shading the hair and by adding Blueberry to the Hey Pesto a darker green was created.
Here is a close up of the face stamped, coloured and cut out.
Step Four:
A piece of ribbon was attached across the bottom of the yellow base and a piece of lace was attached across the ribbon. The pictures of the lady and the flower were stuck to the board. Tie a bow using the ribbon and use the cut out flowers to create a floral spray around the bow. Add a few pearls as embellishments.
Step One:
Paint a 5” x 7” board with Blueberry. This may require more than one coat as Blueberry is translucent. Using the long stamp, emboss the design around the edges of the board.
Step Two:
Paint a piece of stamping card with Chalk paint and cut a 3” strip to fit diagonally across the base board. Use a punch to decorate the edges as shown. Stamp the flower spray randomly on this piece of card and colour with Pumpkin Soup and Hey Pesto. On another piece of board painted with Chalk paint, stamp the perfume bottle and colour in.
Stamp the image of the face on a piece of board that has been painted with the Chalk background paint. Colour the image using Haystack and Pumpkin soup for the flowers and Wisteria and Lavender for her hair. Cut out the design and rub White Fire Treasure Gold around the edges. Rub Treasure Gold around the edges of the board with the perfume bottle on it. Triple emboss both designs with clear embossing powder.
Finally, attach the stamped pieces to the dark background piece as shown and add some paper flowers and lace.
Paint a 7” x 7” piece of board with Pumpkin Soup. Scrunch up a wet wipe and dab Haystack all over the board (rather like sponging). Repeat using Wisteria and then using Nougat. If you look at the picture, the various colours can be seen moving down the board.
Using Versa Magic Pretty Petunia stamp the flourish randomly over the whole board. Use black archival ink to stamp the long stamp step wise down both sides of the board. If you look at the stamp you can see that I have drawn 2 black lines on the mount so that I can easily line up the images.
Step Three:
Paint a piece of card with Wisteria and stamp the floral spray randomly over the surface. Colour the flowers using Lavender and Purple Rain. Use a little Chalk to highlight some of the petals. Cut a 3” wide strip of this so that it will fit diagonally across the base board. Rub Purple Rain around the edges of the card to deepen the colour. Stamp the image of the face on a piece of stamping card painted with Chalk and use a die to cut out the image (I have discovered that just by chance the size of the stamp fits perfectly into some of the Spellbinders circular dies so any of these could be used). Colour using the paint colours as before and rub White Fire Treasure Gold around the edges.
Step Four:
Attach lace along both long edges of the card and stick to the base board. Finally, add some metal embellishments that have been rubbed with Treasure Gold. Stick the image of the face using foam pads to create dimension and attach an organza bow under the face.
Well, I hope you have enjoyed these projects. I would now like to introduce Sheelagh and Daniele who, I hope, have enjoyed using these new stamps as well. It’s always most enjoyable to see what other people have done with my designs and the following samples are wonderful.
Wingman 1... Daniele Haddon - The Musings Of A Chocoholic
Sample One:
Using stamp set EEB04 I have made a master board using purple Rain, Pansy, Lavender, Wisteria, Vintage Lace, Nougat, Haystack and Vanilla. After covering the smoothy card with the paints I then dabbed Pumpkin Soup over all of it, then spritzed irridescent gold glimmer mist. Lace has been coloured with Wisteria paint and white fire treasure gold
Sample Two: Using stamp set EEB04, I used the same masterboard. I coloured 2 images in with Polychromous pencils to make a waterfall card.
Sample Three: Using stamp set EEB05. Heart hanging using Nougat, Wisteria, Vanilla and the Pumpkin soup. Stencilled diamonds over stamped images. Lace coloured in with Wisteria paint.
Sample Four: Using stamp set EEB05. Background coloured with Haystack and vanilla and then Pumpkin soup, the bee stamp has been embossed in gold, second layer is wisteria and lavender again Pumpkin soup, edged with treasure gold, Corner stamp agin embossed in gold and the leaves painted with Guacamole The sentiment is from stamp set Hot Pick 03 Sentiments and the flower has been made using painted fabric with wisteria and brushed with treasure gold white fire
Sample One: I enjoyed the challenge of using Liz's stamps that are so different from my usual style. The swirly ribbon image is perfect to build a background and compliment the main image. (EEB01)
Sample Two: The framed image has been layered over a painted and stenciled background. Colouring with Fresco paints and Fresco matt glaze brings the image to life. (EEB02)
Sample Two: The framed image has been layered over a painted and stenciled background. Colouring with Fresco paints and Fresco matt glaze brings the image to life. (EEB02)
Sample Three: For this background I used Leandra's brayer technique to build several colours in layers before stamping with the flower image. I used a stencil and two shades of Fresco paint for the uppermost layer behind the main image. (EEB03)
If you want to catch me teaching a class, I am booked to visit It's Crafting Time in March.
Sample Four: Once again I used a brayer technique for this tag. With this understated base it allows the flower image to take centre stage and shine. (EEB04)
Thank you to both Sheelagh and Daniele for their wonderful work. It is particularly interesting to see that Daniele has used pencils to colour the images and that Sheelagh has made such interesting samples when I know that she does not usually tend to use pretty designs for her work.
For more of my work, please visit my blog at elizabethborer.blogspot.co.uk I look forward to seeing you there!
I really hope you are going to enjoy using these designs in your art work this year.
