Good Evening, Anneke here. I'm happy to be back on the PaperArtsy blog this week!
For my projects this week I've chosen the new Lin Brown Christmas stamp sets to work with. Today I have some Christmas ornaments to share with you.
I made these ornaments from mason jar lids. As I love recycling, this project is a favourite of mine.
After sanding the (metal) lids I applied a base coat of gesso to each lid.
I continued with a layer of Fresco Finish Slate.
Next I used a piece of Cut-n-Dry Foam to apply a thin layer of Crackle Glaze.
After drying the Crackle Glaze with a heat gun I added another layer of Fresco Finish paint. I used a different colour on each lid: Chalk, Guacamole, Ice Blue, Lake Wanaka, Turquoise and Spanish Mulberry.
I love the PaperArtsy Crackle Glaze, look at the effect on the metal lids!
I slightly sanded the edges of the lids with a sanding block to intensify the distressed look.
I cut 6 circles (with the same diameter as the lids) out of cardboard.
I also cut 6 circles out of quilt batting.
I stamped words and quotes from the new Lin Brown stamp sets ELB10, ELB11 and ELB12 on white linen fabric. Did the stamping with Archival Ink Jet Black

I arranged the fabric on top of the cardboard/batting and made some kind of a "pillow" by attaching the excess of fabric to the back of the cardboard
Before assembling the ornament I added a hanging loop. I pierced a hole with an awl and added some cord as shown.
Time to glue the fabric "pillow" into the lid.
I added some Tim Holtz tinsel twine in order to increase the festive look.
Stamping on fabric is easy. Choose fabric with a fine structure and iron it first.
I added a few matching beads to each ornament.
These ornaments would look nice in a Christmas tree. As I have no Christmas tree yet I had to make pictures in the garden :)
You could hang them on the door knob of a cabinet too.
I glued paper circles to the back of the ornaments. Stamped "25th" on it with black Archival Ink.
These ornaments could be used as Christmas Cards too. In that case add smaller beads and use the paper circles at the back to write your Christmas wishes on.
I hope I could inspire you with this recycling project. Thanks for watching. I'll be back tomorrow with another recycling idea!

A huge thanks to Anneke from all at PaperArtsy for this fabulous project. We love a bit of recycling and these ornaments are just a brilliant way to use the lids.PaperArtsy rubber is so deeply etched it stamps really well on uneven surfaces such as fabric.
