Tag Wrap & Face: Month 1 {with Eclectica³ Ellen Vargo and Ink and Dog Stamps by Clare Lloyd}

Hello everyone, it is Clare back again! I am going to push some of you out of your comfort zone yet again and over the coming semester will be doing a monthly face and Fresco paints project. This week Leandra and Darcy have indulged me so I have 2 projects wrapped into 1 to get you started.

So first I thought I would honor the 4 monthly projects to there own little home and decided on a fabric wrap. I know there will be more aghast expressions when I mention the word sewing, drawing your own faces and sewing...crikey what is Clare going to want next 'blood'...LOL! But this wrap could just as easily be made with Smoothy card and some glue or tape so don't run away from your screen screaming just yet.

I chose to work on calico which was a silly idea really as it can shrink when you add moisture to it, but never mind I made it work and I like warped...tee hee. I cut my fabric to 22cm x 32cm and painted it with Snowflake. Once dry I dotted Limelight all over and used a roller to spread it onto my fabric.

I then did random stamping with some Ellen Vargo 01 stamps using Orchid and Bora Bora.

Next I layered over Ink and the Dog Frames Plate 4 stamp to create more pattern onto my fabric.

I folded a 5cm flap to create a little pocket and zig zag stitched around.

And finally simply measured, marked and stitched to create the 4 pockets. I folded my fabric wrap and tied with a black organza ribbon.

And so to the tag to go inside. I am working on Size 5 Manilla tags and started by painting it in Snowflake and stamping with Ink and the Dog Petals 6 using Black Archival.

Then came the sketch in pencils and I always draw over in a black Pitt Pen. I went with a folk art style girl for my first tag.

The face got painted in a watery layer of Vintage Lace and then I apply a thicker layer around the edges of the face.

Now came a thin line of Caramel which I washed back a bit with some water. We are creating shading now.

I added a thin layer of Little Black Dress on her hair and Snowflake over the eyes.

Now a really thin line of Chocolate Pudding around the face, down the neck and to add detail onto the face.

You will see in the next photo I have added some colour to the eyes (Beach Hut) and lips(Rose). There is a wash of Little Black Dress around the figure to add depth and shadow.

To complete my tag I did some sketching. For the wings I painted Smoothy card Rose and stamped the butterfly image within the Petals 6 stamp plate. The texture on the body was created using Grunge Paste, which I scrapped through with the flat side of a palette knife. Once dry this was painted with Beach Hut and stamped with the words on Petals 6 stamp. I also used Beach Hut to stamp some colour onto the background using Squiggly Ink Mini 13.

See you soon with another face to add to your collection.
