Starting with the hearts - I used Autumn Fire as a base coat and then Nougat over the top of some Crackle Glaze.
For the canvas, I blended on the turquoises, from Mermaid via Bora Bora and Beach Hut to South Pacific. But then I decided I wanted some texture round the edges, so I laid the two hearts in place to see where they'd go, and then patted Grunge Paste around the edges with a palette knife, over the top of the paint.
Next, I used the same turquoises to add colour to the texture - adding paint, spritzing with water and letting the colours mix either just by tilting the canvas, or helping them along with a brush.
(You may remember one of my December projects used the same technique - you can find a more detailed how-to description by clicking on the link.)
I added some stencilling, sponging the darker translucent turquoises with Cut'n'Dry Foam, and then stamped the delicious script from LP028 in Sepia Archival ink randomly across the space.

The final background step was to add some Florentine Gold Treasure Gold to highlight the texture.
The two beautiful faces come from two different sets - one from LP026 and one from LP028.LPC 026 |
And I then warmed them up with Distress Inks (Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade and Rusty Hinge) before giving both hearts a coat of Satin Glaze which both seals and preserves the DI colours, as well as giving that lovely sheen.
Two Prima Mechanicals buttons got the turquoise treatment...
... and the final touch was to give those a good burnishing of Treasure Gold in Florentine Gold too.
Hope you like it - I always love to hear what you think - and thank you so much for stopping by today. I'll see you again soon. Alison.
A huge thank you to Alison from PaperArtsy HQ, this is a beautiful piece with so many really well executed techniques to explore. Your stamping over the crackle glaze is so clear. This shows how great the Fresco paints are for creating a smooth surface. The colours and textures all work so great together, making this a fantastic piece.
