"I feel
so sad showing you this one, as it is one of my last offering as PaperArtsy Guest Designer".
So for this
project, I started with a Wooden Icon Triple, which I took apart and painted with Honey Dew Fresco Paint using a paint brush.
On one side of the
‘doors’ I stamped with a BG2 stamp using Embossing Ink, then heat
embossed it with clear UTEE (you could do the same with clear
embossing powder though).
On the other side, I applied CrackleGlaze with a palet knife. I did the same on the wooden center piece, a part was embossed, a part was covered in Crackle Glaze.
Using a piece of
Cut N Dry, I applied a layer of Holly Fresco Paint on all sides of
the wood.
To produce a faux
batique effect, I melted the clear UTEE away by ironing it with tissue paper between the wood and the iron. When melted by the heat
of the iron, the UTEE gets absorbed by the tissue paper. If your
tissue paper is sticking to the surface, just leave the iron on it
for a couple of second to remelt the UTEE or embossing powder.
Taking away the UTEE
revealed the clear paint underneath the Green Holly Fresco! The
sides that had Crackle Glaze… crackled just nicely. I ran a sanding
grip over the wood to distress it a bit more.
I used the two
‘doors’ as covers for a Coptic binded book. The pages are made of
watercolor paper. To keep the book closed, I used printed ribbon.
I randomly stamped
words from the ESN08 stamp set with coffee Archival Ink on the
central part of the icon.
To embellish it, I
made a mini tiny heart out of cold porcelain, I painted using BloodOrange and Claret . I attached the heart to a Tim Holtz Mini Gear with a piece of wire. The clock is a real vintage one. The metal
disk was home rusted in vinegar and salt baths and wrapped with iron
wire.
I
stamped ‘Happy Ending’ from the ESN08 set on Smoothy White Stamping Card using Black Archival Ink and added some background stamping with the BG2stamp in Sepia Archival Ink. I also colourized the paper with Vintage Photo Distres Ink.
I stamped the moth
from the HP1004EZ stamp twice on Smoothy White Stamping Card with Black Archival Ink. I trimmed one to glue on top of the other to add dimension to
it.
I then coloured the Smoothy White Stamping Card with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and
randomly stamped with the Mini 30 using Sepia Archival Ink.
I attached the book
to the main part with a piece of chain from the same vintage clock.
And
like the clock says, this is a happy ending. This guest designing was
a wonderful adventure, with lots of new discoveries, growing and fun.
