Fun and Whimsical Steam-punk Collage ....
"This was a really fun piece to get started with on
my new Fresco Finish adventure"!
I started with an 8x8 canvas board. Using a stencil,
I added a thin layer of Modelling Paste with a palette knife.
Let dry or dry with a heat tool. Then select your palette of colors. Here I used the following Fresco Acrylic Paint colours - Snowflake, Vintage Lace, Ice Blue, Baltic Blue, Eggplant and Claret. Pour little puddles onto your craft mat
Apply layers of colors randomly with the Cut-N-Dry foam
patting gently to blend the colors.
I used a sanding block on some of the corner
sections to bring back the under-painting.
Stamp two
images from the Hot Pick 1111 collection
onto Crackly Tissue Paper with Jet Black Archival Ink and heat set.
HP1111
Also stamp Dream, Create, and Imagine from Hot Pick 1105 collection the same way.

Tear
your images out. Using a brush, apply Glue-n-Seal
or Matte Medium to your canvas.
Lay the image down and spread a layer on top of the paper starting in
the middle and working your way to the edges. Smooth it down to get rid of all
the bubbles.
{Comment from Leandra: Crackly is an extremely robust tissue, so you can actually peel up, and re lay down an image if you want to try it positioned in other areas - this can be handy at times! If you get bubbles, then picking it up and re-laying it down also helps smooth things out!}
You can go back and sponge more paint onto areas where the
paper may show, but it all generally blends into the canvas very well.
Now
the magic begins. Using a brush, add a thin coat of the Metallic Glaze to the diamond shapes or raised areas of the canvas. It adds a pearly
metallic glimmer and vintage sparkle effect to your painted areas.
Using a Permanent
Black Fine Tip Pen you can draw around the 3 word stamps to highlight. Gold
sticker nail heads were glued to the centers of the diamonds.
Coffee Archival Ink was used to add background stamping with portions of stamps
from LPC017 and LPC018 and the small script stamp from HP1111.

French Ultramarine Archival Ink was used on the Chicken Wire Stamp from Tim Holtz’s Mixed Media
Collection.
The raindrops are stenciled on with Baltic Blue and Snowflake Fresco Paints,
and highlighted with lighter and darker colors. You can just go on and on with
this type of collage ... knowing when to stop is the key!
"I
hope you enjoyed this little walk through my collage. It was fun and opened
several doors for me. I will be back on Friday with my last project for this month"!
