2020 Topic 22 Ornaments that Sparkle EGL (by Kate Yetter)

  2020 Topic 22:Icy Christmas

Christmas colours never have to be restricted to red and green and Kate has let her imagination run into overdrive with these wonderfully coloured and festive makes. Using lots of artistic details and a touch of icy sparkle, these cards and tag/ornaments have turned into gorgeous gifts themselves.

Hi everyone, it's Kate with you today, and I'd like to share with you a few cards and a gift tag/ornament that I made for Christmas.

I am not into traditional Christmas colors so I love this theme of icy blue. I did use a little bit of freedom with my color palette and used some sparkle that spoke icy to me. I struggled to narrow this project down to one item as I couldn't stop creating. As a result, I am sharing them all even though I feel as though they don't all go together.

To begin with, I stamped these really fun images onto vintage magazine paper to serve as backgrounds.

I couldn't decided what I wanted to make so I cut a few circles out of cereal boxes and covered it with my background paper.

I stamped and cut out a few embellishments painted with Fresco Finish Paints.

A clean and simple card where the edges have been embossed with silver.

A little more color.

Used as a gift tag.

Used as ornaments.

To embellish, I used twine, ink soaked paper towels, and stamped images.

Glitter was used all around the edges and on the embellishments to add that icy effect.

I had a really hard time deciding what to make with these stamps and I love that Christmas allows for so many possibilities when it comes to projects. In the end, I made my daughter pretty happy as she got a special ballerina ornament to put on her tree. I hope you will have a go at using your non-holiday themed stamps on holiday projects.

Thanks for joining us today,
Kate
