2020 Topic 19: Words Of Wisdom
The
lovely thing about 'quote' style stamps is they can be used as the
focal point of a project, but work equally well in the background to
build layers up. Lynn demonstrates this perfectly with torn, stamped
tissue layers in her textured cardboard tag.

Hi everyone, it's Lynn here (memoriesonthepage.blogspot.com) with you today, and I'd like to share with you a tag that I have created for this weeks topic - Words of Wisdom.
I
love to use regular corrugated cardboard as a starting layer for a
project. It's free, and you are able to create awesome texture by
peeling off the top layer. I have used Eclectica Series Stamp Designer,
Alison Bomber's Life and Living Set 19 (EAB19, available exclusively
from PA stockists) as it fits perfectly with this topic.
I started by cutting out the shape of the tag from an old cardboard box. I then sprayed the tag which a small amount of water - I find this helps to peel off areas of the top layer leaving the corrugations to show.
I have then added a layer of PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Paint - Nougat onto the whole area.
I have used stencil PS001 with some crackle paste randomly around the tag. On the corrugations I have added some Grunge Paste with a spatula to give some more texture
I have stamped some of the sayings from stamp EAB19 onto tissue paper.
I
wasn't fussy how they came out as I was ripping them up and adhering
them to the tag once the pastes were dry. I have used a matt medium as a
glue.
Now to add the colour - I loved how it looked so I didn't want to cover it with colour - just add some highlights.
I have used PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Paint - Bubble Gum, China and Slimed.
I have used my finger to apply the paint. I also cut a little
rectangle and did the same colours - this is going to hold the featured
saying.
I also applied PaperArtsy Fresco Finish Paint - Smoked Paprika around the edges.
I
have stamped the featured quote onto tissue paper and adhered to the
small rectangle piece of cardboard. I have then used some card stock to
back the cardboard and give it a lift from the main tag.

I had an old "zip" stamp so have put that down the centre and adhered the rectangle onto the top with glue.
Here are some close ups:
Thanks
for stopping by and I hope that you have found something in this tag
that encourages you to have a play with texture and paints.

Fabulous crackle and texture Lynn.
ReplyDeleteAll that texture and the clever faux zip make this such a fun tag Lynn. You've used Alison's words fantastically to created that background x
ReplyDeleteI think one of my very favourite substrates is distressed corrugated cardboard! Great layers!
