Hi everyone, Nikki here today (Addicted to Art) with a Seth Apter style mini book for our Hinged theme.

Seth Apter recently ran online workshops called 'Mini Book Madness' that I am sure some of you may have done. He uses one of the 'no sew' binding techniques which make it fun and easy to put together. I always find getting good photos of books a little challenging so here is a quick video flick through!

As well as the binding you can see I added some fake hinges too - with a rust effect using PaperArtsy paints. Just a little sponging of Slate, Mahogany and Terracotta gives those rust tones.

Having decided on the size of my book (this one is A6) I created the binding for the pages and began work on my covers. I layered three pieces of card together to give it some strength using gell prints created with some of Seth's stamps along with stencil PS102 by Sara Naumann.

I cut up my prints to create the front and back, adding more stamping and some additional collaged images and words.

I often take extra prints or just wipe the paint off my brayer on photocopy paper to use for collage or stamping on.

I have only completed one page (so far!) in my book - a collage using more of those gell print scraps and some additional stamping from ESA 01 and ESA 08. Look closely and you  might also see some of the ESA mini's - 33 and 40.

So I think this will be my book of collage experiments! Just play time - no rules, no expectations. What I love about many of Seth Apter's stamps is they create interest. background and texture. You don't need to stamp the whole thing or be precise.
