2020 Topic 15: Shades Of White
~ Leandra
Today I would like to share an art journal page I have created for this weeks topic “Shades of White”.
When I saw the topic I immediately wanted to try something completely out of my comfort zone - and if I realised how challenging it would be I probably would have reconsidered!!! But it is good to be challenged and step outside the “norm” which for me is bright colours.
I chose the JOFY92 as I wanted to use the flowers as balloons and have the tiniest tinge of colour that then leads the the shades to white - easier said that done!!!!!
I began with a white gesso page - but it wasnt smooth enough so I completely painted the page in Paper Artsy Paint - Snowflake.
Using the smoothly cardstock I stamped the images and began added a little colour, shading that colour out until it became a shade of white. I have then fussy cut them all out.
I have then adhered them to the page and linked them with a drawn rope. (Which I later painted over with white!)
I then realised how hard it was to colour shades of white!!! So I decided to add some embossing. I stamped some of the shapes from JOFY 92 around the page and used white embossing powder.
It is hard to photo but in the side stamps I have coloured the insides with different shades of white coloured pencil.
I have then stamped the title in black and my page is done.
I stamped JOFY94 images to the Paper Artsy Smoothy Cardstock and coloured using Prisma coloured pencils. I tried hard to only had a little colour so I could get shades of white but this was again very difficult.
I added some Jane Davenport drama sticks in white to the flowers. This is a very thick type crayon and added some fantastic texture to the petals
I have outlined the card in white paint pen to add another shade of white - and backed with a white cardstock.
Thanks for stopping by and til next time - Happy crafting
