2020 #3 On This Tag: Giant Tag with ESC {by Ellie Knol}

2020 Topic 3: On This Tag

Ellie does a fantastic job here with bright spring colours and adding wonderful texture with grunge paste using new Scrapcosy stamps.

Hi everyone, it's Ellie Knol from PAPER-STAMPS-COLOR with you today, and I'd like to share with you the process of making this 'giant' tag; 13,5 x 18 centimeters...

The stamps called for a collage of elements, and I rather wanted to incorporate the stamps on one tag than some of the stamps on smaller tags.
I also wanted to give the Grunge Paste from PaperArtsy a go again.

I LOVE how the Grunge Paste allows to apply it thickly and covering the colorful book paper  partially underneath it. The book paper came from an art journal I used to do cleanups in of the brayer when gelli printing.

Of course I went through my stash first to have a look through my tags; also through this bucket full of lovely tags waiting to be used. I collect them, do you?

I think this is the most ancient tag in my stash
at the moment, it's real !!
There's rust on it from the metal of the eyelet, yummy!

Using tags from clothing and cards from 'ancient' thread (Scheepjeswol) also makes for beautiful tags. They can be used in your mixed media projects!

Back to my project: I've used the gorgeous new set of stamps from ESC19; the set calls for coloring as the shading has already been done in the design. I used colored pencils to color the images. The sentiment in the stamp set was too long to my liking for this project, so I decided to only use part of it.

I used the outside parts of the postage stamps as feet for the clock; also stamped onto tissue paper to be able to add it to the collage.  I also like the cross-stitch border to be used in the background.. such a versatile stamp!

I used my all-time favorite stencil, PS021 from Paper Artsy to add some detail in the Grunge paste.. LOVE how the numbers pop up, just to add interest and make the bird the focal point.

The postage stamps are from the same set, also colored and added to the collage by covering it partially with the Grunge Paste; they were stamped onto tissue paper and adhered with decoupage glue.
I love that the color from the background peeps through the paste in various spots, randomly I mean.

For me it's always such a joy and a challenge to look at new product and decide how I can use it to enhance them to it's full and of course make you love them too.. I hope I accomplished my mission, lol.
It's always about just playing, not overthinking it. I used the stamps on a giant tag, but they are also good for cards or any other project!
This project made me long for spring..

Enjoy creating...
