There are all kinds of boxes of all shapes and sizes that I'm sure you could upcycle if you put your thinking cap on! Chris has used a cheese box with a modern colour combo to great effect for this make. Those soft stencil swirls are gorgeous with the blue cracks underneath peeking through, and I love how the red, as a translucent shade, turns the blue swirls purple.

Hi everyone, it's Carol with you today, and I'd like to share with you a new cheese box I have altered to the love theme.  The JoFy stamps I have used are just a nice size for this box and I love the way the little hearts just fit nicely under the rim of the lid.
With the fail safe Crackle you get with the Crackle Effect Glaze it makes it really simple to give a project that shabby chic finish. I have gone for a modern look to mine but it is just as easy to grunge it up and make it look really vintage just with a different choice of paint colours.

Masking my images on the lid before adding the stenciling using the same two colours as before really brings the whole project together.

I painted my box with Bora Bora, gave it a coat of Crackle Glaze and then finished it with a coat of Honey Dew .

I had to show you a close up of the crackle Finish. The Crackle Effect Glaze has never failed me and I love it.

I stamped images from JOFY 86 onto the shiny side tissue paper using black archival ink.

I flipped my paper over so I coloured them the opposite side to which I had stamped. I used London Bus to colour them.

I added all my images to my box using Matte Medium.

I felt I wanted to bring the colour underneath my crackle to the surface a little bit more, so I used Bora Bora and Stencil PA156 I added swirls to  the lid of my box. Then to pop it all a little bit I used London Bus and  the little heart element from Stencil PA 052.

I added the Large quote from JOFY 86 to the inside of of my lid.

As I mentioned previously I love how the hearts from the stamp set just fit nicely under the rim of the box.

I will be gifting this box to a friend who got engaged at Christmas, it's a nice little size to keep small momentous in. That is the reason I kept it quite flat and plain on top so it could be popped into a draw to store odd bits and pieces. I have done a lot of more ornate ones in the past with fancy tops and embellishments added to them and if you look on Pinterest you will get masses of ideas and inspiration.
