2019 Topic 7: The Time Is Right
With
a great tip for some recycling, and a whole lot of colour and
embellishments, Kate has created some magical mail art with her
signature pops of black.
Hi everyone, it's Kate with you today, and I'd like to share with you a piece of mixed media mail art.
Turquoise
reminds me of calm. It has a soothing effect like the ocean but at the
same time it is bright and vibrant. This topic was a must for me as the
colour turquoise seems end up in most of my projects.
Mixed
media postcards are one of my go-to projects to create. I love working
on a small canvas, yet being able to layer stamps and embellishments to
create depth and texture.
Ever
wonder what to do with all those postcards that arrive with your
PaperArtsy orders? I save them all as they are an excellent base for
mixed media mail art.
I covered the back of the post card with card stock, added a layer of Fresco Finish Turquoise paint and stamped with HP1902.
I covered the background with stamped tissue paper.
Next, I stencilled with grunge paste using PS105, painted with Fresco Finish Turquoise, and sprinkled a bit of embossing powder over the background to add some sparkle.
Layering bits of paper, fibre and embellishments is always the fun part of creating a mixed media piece.
Adding a bit of black helps to pop the layers forward.
Mail
Art is fun and easy to make! I encourage you to create by recycling
what you have available. I hope that you use all those postcards to
create amazing art that someone would be thrilled to receive in the
mail.
