Hi everyone, it's Chris Dark with you today and I'd like to share my creation with a gorgeous new Zinski Art (ZA36) stamp set by Elena which has totally delighted me and given me 'Grandson' projects to think about for the future! :D
I love the size of the main elephant stamp; it gives lots of options. This time I've chosen to make a card. Mustard, Turquoise and Terracotta have featured in a lot of my crafting when I look back, it's a very appealing combination to me and it's also a combination I buy a lot in paint, pencils and watercolours. My yellow is Fresco Finish Chalk Acrylic in Mustard Pickle
It's a lovely bright colour which works really well with the Turquoise and Terracotta Fresco Finish Acrylics. I've also had a play with one of my favourite background techniques of glazing where glaze is added, allowed to dry a bit and then wiped back with a dryish baby wipe.
My glaze is Fresco Finish Matte Glaze added to Fresco Finish Acrylic Little Black Dress, approximately 1 part glaze to 2 parts paint. I used heavy weight Smoothy card for the technique as it's a great substrate for any wet media technique; it can take a lot of scrubbing back with a baby wipe without breaking down. On this occasion I left the glaze to dry a bit too long before removing and it was much darker than I envisaged so I decided that as it was an embossed piece I could sand it back to reveal some of the white card underneath.

The accent stamps are wonderful in this set and very easy to fussy cut, even the thin stems were manageable and it's easy to build up a scene.
I love to use the paints with Infusions on top to stamp over and in this case I stamped the efilump onto card treated in this way and I like the texture from the walnut crystals left behind. The yellow piece is with Slime infusions on top and the other piece is all three paints applied with a baby wipe, the patina effect is particularly pleasing here and I find a slightly drier baby wipe helps with the top layers.
I embossed a piece of my multi coloured card with a wood grain embossing folder and stamped the efilump over that then used it for paper piecing the elephant's ear, bow tie and leaves, once again the texture is nice to see.
I added some coloured pencil to the efilump here and there where I wanted definition and to colour all the accent stamps.
In the end my background piece worked very well with the rest of the stamped fussy cut images. The black glazing picks out the black ink stamping and the sanding helps to lighten it up. I like all the texture and the fact that I can see the patina paint effect showing through the embossing and the paint glaze.
I hope you'll join us in the Mustard challenge, I'm sure you'll find you have lots of colours that will work really well with it and stamps that will work as well, you can always go down a more floral route with mustard of course. My next project is going to be a framed piece for my Grandson's room, the efilumps are perfect for boys or girls!
Thanks for joining me tonight and I wish you a creative week.
