2018 Topic 13: Mint, Sage, Claret & Gold (Colour Topic)
I
love how Autumn has made the pop of Gold in his post a clear feature
with these trees from the Urban Snapshots collection! Love how she's
assembled the frames! ~ Leandra
Hi everyone, it's Autumn Clark with you today, and I'd like to share a wall art set I created with the incredibly beautify and yet trendy PaperArtsy {Urban Snapshot Nature} Collection. I have long coveted these wonderful stamps and am so happy to begin working with them.
I felt like the stamps were large enough to provide big impact and decided to make 8x10 panels with each tree from Urban Snapshot (Nature 1) and (Nature 3) as the focal image. I've been hugely inspired by our own Sara Naumann
and her work with foils, so foiling the trees added the gold to my
mint, sage and claret palette. No matter how much I tried, my photos
are on the grey side, so use your imagination and envision them in all
their minty sage glory. :)
My
entire process was organic, play as you go. The funny part was that I
chose to use black chipboard for my "canvases" and when I brayered on
the first coat of gesso it turned pink! Yikes! In the end this worked
beautifully with the added Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paint in Claret. I coated this first layer with clear gesso to keep the panel from bleeding any further.
I continued along brayering Fresco Chalk Acrylic in Hint of Mint and Sage until I was happy with the result. I embossed the leaves from PaperArtsy Eclectica³ {Lin Brown} Collection (ELB033) onto my panel with sage ink and clear embossing powder for added texture, then embossed the script from PaperArtsy Mini Stamp 62 using Distress Oxide ink in Black Soot for contrast. I love that soft black!
I brayered some book pages for my top layers and embossed the sentiments from PaperArtsy {Urban Snapshots} Nature 1 and Nature 3 onto sanded metallic kraft core paper using Claret Tapestry embossing powder.
I
used Sticky Embossing Powder to foil my images. I achieved the best
result when I didn't tap the powder off of my image, but loosely poured
it away so that I maximized the amount of powder left. I went back
around my masterboard with a glue stick and added random foiled lines to
frame the matted layers. You can see bits of the black board, the pink
tinted gesso and all of the other layered colors. I gave everything a
splash of watered Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paint in Chalk for a final bit of interest.
I brayered some book pages for my top layers and embossed the sentiments from PaperArtsy {Urban Snapshots} Nature 1 and Nature 3 onto sanded metallic kraft core paper using Claret Tapestry embossing powder.
