NEW {JoFY} Collection Jan 2018
Jo
Firth-Young is the master of stamp design. Her followers are far and
wide in this world, and we are thrilled to share yet another stunning
release with you. There's plenty to see and
Hi everyone, Jo (www.jofy.co.uk) here. I've
been designing my JOFY stamps for about six years now (wow! time really
does fly when you're having fun!) and I'm really excited to share my
newest stamp designs with you. As well as lots of flower stamp designs
(of all shapes and sizes) I've also added large and mini stencils to the
range.
Today there are 3 blog posts to enjoy, from myself, Keren Baker (www.kerenbaker.wordpress.com) and Clare Messenger (www.craftyclarey.blogspot.co.uk).
These brilliant wingmen have created beautiful samples for you to enjoy
- they really have done an amazing job and I couldn't be more grateful
to them. Our blog posts will publish within 30 mins of each other, so
buckle up for a creative ride over the next 90 minutes!
Let's start with some ideas with each of the new products.
JoFY A5 stamp sets
6" x 7" (15 x 18cm) trimmed stamps on EZ mount foam
RRP £20.50 (incl VAT)
Jo
is well known for her floral designs, and following on from last
summer, Jo has added to her designs some more intricate, doodled
elements, which are super-fun! As ever, you will find some useful
borders, backgrounds, words, and even some solid elements to add those
finishing touched and details to your cards, journal pages, scrapbook
layouts or canvas art.
JoFY Collection Set 59 (JoFY59)
Devine Flowers using JoFY59
This
stamp set is great for cards when you can use the smaller of the two
flowers and just half of the leaf stem... but it can also be used in
conjunction with the large stencil PS081 (shown lower down this post)
for larger projects such as canvasses or journal spreads.
Hard to tell through a computer screen, but some of my samples are larger than you might imagine. I have 3 new large format stencils, which are 9" tall, so this allows us to super-size up our art! For example, below you can see how the image stencilled in blue, from large stencil (PS0083), sits in relation to the stamps. The tall 'flower' fills the height of an A5 stamp set, and the blue stencil sits in proportion nicely.
Hands up who likes mushrooms! These are super cute mushrooms and I couldn't resist having lots of them on this panel, created by stamping, masking and stamping again to create a cluster and then colouring just two to make them stand out.
This stamp set has some really useful foliage images, and the ball/bud stems are going to be really interesting to use...
I've
laid out the three 'versions' of the seed-head for you to see how they
relate to each other size-wise. The new stencil on the right is much
taller (23cm) and is going to look great on art journal spreads and
canvasses.
As you can see from the picture, the original line-drawn stamp from JOFY38 will look lovely layered up on smaller projects with the new silhouette image on JOFY63. Or, what about a single silhouette on a card... stamped in metallics... that would look gorgeous wouldn't it?! (in my humble opinion lol). And to the right you have the large stencil version.
I know I shouldn't have favourites but I think this might be my favourite of this release! It came from a sketch in my travel junk journal and I'm so glad I made it into a stamp and a coordinating stencil (PS082) as I think this really opens up how it can be used - and how easily/speedily you can create projects.
I think these images will look lovely worked on fabric. As well as the big flowers there is also a doodle flower border that is going to look lovely down the side of pages or used as a background.
I designed JM63 & JM64 (alphabet and numbers) so they could be used to create a background (as the numbers above) or stamped separately to create words such as the word 'happy' below.
And finally, on this ombre panel below, I stamped JM60 in Snowflake Fresco Finish - it creates a lovely dainty pattern - like lace. The larger flowers are from JM59.
Dream Big using JoFY60
This
stamp set has flower/seed-head designs which will coordinate with and
compliment any existing JOFY stamps you may have but it also has a solid
stamp image stamp (rather than an outline). I think of it as a
silhouette; really useful when building up backgrounds because you don't
need to colour it, instead you can use a coloured ink or paint. I've
added several 'solid' stamps of this style to the plates in this
release.

JoFY Collection Set 61 (JoFY61)
Standing Out in the Crowd using JoFY61
Hands up who likes mushrooms! These are super cute mushrooms and I couldn't resist having lots of them on this panel, created by stamping, masking and stamping again to create a cluster and then colouring just two to make them stand out.
This stamp set has some really useful foliage images, and the ball/bud stems are going to be really interesting to use...
The
white leaves in the background are a new stencil PS081 which you can
see later in this post. I call it 'wafty leaf stems' because they look
as if they're moving in the wind. This was intentional because a lot of
my flower stems have very straight stalks/stems so the curvy lines of
this stencil will soften the look when used together.
Flower Fall Card using JoFY62
I've
wanted to create this background stamp for ages and I'm really happy
with how it looks - its going to be really useful for all sorts of
projects - its quite geometric & dainty at the same time. The
flowers will be great for layering up and maybe adding to the stems of
stencil PS081.
Meadow using JoFY63
Out
of all the new stamps sets I think this is the one which is most
similar my early releases. I really like the bud heads shown in the
sample, and to have a larger silhouette version of one of my all time
favourite designs (the seed-head on JOFY38, stamped in white on the
sample) makes me very happy! lol
Bloomin' Lovely using JoFY64
I know I shouldn't have favourites but I think this might be my favourite of this release! It came from a sketch in my travel junk journal and I'm so glad I made it into a stamp and a coordinating stencil (PS082) as I think this really opens up how it can be used - and how easily/speedily you can create projects.

JoFY Minis
credit card size trimmed stamps on EZ mount foam
RRP £4.80 (incl VAT)
Jo's
minis have always proved popular as supplementary images to the large
stamp sets. For this release there are more of the doodle style
intricate flowers, some fab geometric elements and the much asked for
small alphabets that are great as backgrounds, or to use as a tiny
alphabet.
PaperArtsy MINI size stencils
3.5" x 3.75" (9cm x9.5cm) RRP £3.00 (incl VAT)
3.5" x 3.75" (9cm x9.5cm) RRP £3.00 (incl VAT)
These
are a new format for Jo with gorgeous baby stencils that are super fun
for your backgrounds to add depth and layering to your mixed media
crafting.
A nice addition to the JoFY line of products.
A nice addition to the JoFY line of products.
This sample uses JM59 and stencil PM011
Here, JM60 has been used as a focal image & JM61 stamped all over the kraft card panel to create a background
I designed JM63 & JM64 (alphabet and numbers) so they could be used to create a background (as the numbers above) or stamped separately to create words such as the word 'happy' below.
The 3 samples above were created with the new mini stencils and several mini stamps.
L to R:
1. JM57, JM59, mini stencil PM012.
2. JM58, JM63, (background stamp from JOFY62), mini stencil PM014.
3. JM58, mini stencil PM012 (alphabet strip from JOFY63).
1. JM57, JM59, mini stencil PM012.
2. JM58, JM63, (background stamp from JOFY62), mini stencil PM014.
3. JM58, mini stencil PM012 (alphabet strip from JOFY63).
The sample below shows PM013 in the background with stamps from JoFY60.
And finally, on this ombre panel below, I stamped JM60 in Snowflake Fresco Finish - it creates a lovely dainty pattern - like lace. The larger flowers are from JM59.
These
large stencils are fabulous for large format journal pages, or canvas
art, and are a new addition to the JoFY line as far as size goes! Bigger
is always better, and you can see the large flower (PS082) offers
magnificent shadow options for the matching stamps in set JoFY 64.
I'm really happy with these larger stencils. The create tall flowers which will be so useful for journal pages and canvasses.
I'd like to show you how PS082 works, so I created a simple masked and stenciled background to illustrate how it coordinates with the flowers on JOFY64.
Stencil a flower in pink - make sure the stencil is RIGHT SIDE UP or the stamp won't match! Once dry, mask it off (using the mask element of the stencil) and stencil a second (orange) flower. Use black ink to stamp the flower image over the top of the stenciled flowers - pink flower first, then mask that off and stamp over the orange block. Finally stamp and mask more flowers in the background, and as you can see, I've painted in some of the detail so you can see how it looks with and without detailing.

PaperArtsy REGULAR stencils
6.5" x 7" (16cm x18cm) RRP £5.50 (incl VAT)
6.5" x 7" (16cm x18cm) RRP £5.50 (incl VAT)
Jo
has a wide assortment of stencils, and this offering has a mix of
floral, geometric, bold and fine. The 2 lower ones 'pop out' of the
surrounding mylar creating a mask, useful for gel- printing. And the
floral pattern within is also repeated in stamped images, both on JoFY
Minis, and regular stamp sets.
Gel Printing
I've
been playing around with the new masks and stencils in a small A6 art
journal - using them with a gel plate which is something I had in mind
when designing the stencils/masks. I created pages ready for the
addition of words, images and more layers.
Here are a couple of pages using PS086. I find the ghost/clean-up prints are often more interesting than the very fist print...

Phew! That is a lot of new products! I hope you like them as much as I do - I can't wait to see what you all make with them.
Next up are my wingmen with the lovely and clever samples they have created. As I said earlier I'm so grateful to them for the work they've created for this release - THANK YOU Keren & Clare!
