2017 Topic 19: My Favourite Things
The Zinskis are out to play in this fun post from Claire. They have such cheeky expressions, what's not to like!?
Hi everyone, it's Claire Snowdon here with you tonight sharing my favorite type of art to create.....a journal page.
Recently
I have been enjoying creating journal pages on loose sheets and then
assembling them at a later date into some form of journal with assorted
page sizes, so this is what I thought I would share with you all.
A definite favourite for me during 2017, and I'm sure many others also, was the new Distress Oxide inks - I used them here to create my background. They can give some wonderful effects - I spent time creating my background using many different layers of ink and water until I was happy.
Another
favourite technique that I use often is fussy cutting - I find it gives
so much flexibility with both composition and colour. I stamped,
coloured and fussy cut all the little people from stamp set ZA19
Paint splattering is such a simple technique but one I think looks incredibly effective. I used it here with Chalk Fresco Finish Paint before I glued down all my elements to create a bit of a snowy sky feeling.
Glossy accents and distress clear rock candy glitter along the bottom edge gave my page a little touch of Christmas sparkle and they look as if they are all standing in the snow :)
Zinski Art Set 19 (ZA19)
and the flowers from set Zinski Art Zinski Art Set 06 ZA06.

Being able to just play with my favourite crafty supplies and techniques at this time of year was very relaxing. No pressure with trying to make Christmas cards for other people - this is a little piece of festive art made just for me. I encourage you all to do the same and grab some precious 'me time' at this hectic time of year!!
Season's greetings to you all, Claire xx
Great spattering and spots in your background Claire, love how that does give it the wintery snowy vibe! It's nice to have a Christmas feel to a journal page at this time of year! Merry Christmas to you too! ~ Leandra
As
this is the final topic of the year, there is not a challenge as we
know you are all super busy, so sit back, enjoy and be inspired.
Season's Greetings and best wishes to you all from all of us here at PaperArtsy
