2017 #11 Fabric Book with LPC {by Kate Yetter}

2017 Topic 11: Books - mini, maxi, binding

We have another clever crafty cookie up for the Topic 'Books' today. In this post, Kate has delved into the world of fabric pages, which when combined with Lynne Perrella Stamps, is an absolute dreamy piece of eye-candy!!
We are so fortunate to have such an amazing pool of talent to share with you on this blog. Grab a comfy spot to stretch out and enjoy this one!

Hello Everyone, Kate here today. I am so excited to show you what I have made for our theme: Books! This is one of my all-time favorite themes because reading is something I am always doing in my spare time. And if you love something, the natural thing to do as an artist is to carry that over into your artwork.

For this project I made something that I have always wanted to make but never have. A fabric book. When I originally planned this, I thought, “How hard can this be?” Of course that is a bad way to start any project because you are just setting yourself up for problems.

Everything was going great until I got to the inside page setup. I messed this up and had to re-do it. I learned that in the future when making books, I need to think and plan page layouts through more thoroughly.

The thing I love most about this project is the raw edges of the fabric and the various stitching. I used several different stitches and incorporated a few different thread colors.

For the cover, I used Fresco Finish paints over a layer of gesso and painted directly onto my fabric surface.

I stamped my main images (from the Lynne Perrella Collection) LPC022, LPC025...

 ... over the dry paint and embellished with stamped images colored and cut from cardstock.

The inside pages were made in their entirety before I sewed them onto the fabric.

I used Lynne Perrella stamps for the background and to embellish the pages.

I love a book cover that draws me in but I love it even more when the inside captivates my attention. I hope you are encouraged to go make your own book and to fill it with pretty stamped images. I enjoyed this project so much that I am going to continue making more pages for the inside. I will be sharing one of those pages over on my blog today, so come have a look.

Thank you for stopping by the PaperArtsy Blog.

Wow, this is a stunner to be sure! I love how those folded card layers add a wonderful dimension to each of the beautifully decorated pages! This is a coffe table book if ever I saw one, I think you have found a new string to your bow Kate!
