Crafting at Ally pally ...here's what we got up to at the show last weekend !

Crafting At Ally Pally - April 8/9 2017 - a summary

We interrupt our current blog topic for a round up of life on the PaperArtsy stand at the recent show! Tonight we are sharing some of the demos filmed live at the show via Periscope which I have uploaded to YouTube. Then there is a great feature and 'real' video from Raquel sharing the details of her make and Take.

Above was the 'before' photo.....the calm on Saturday morning with Raquel and Flo getting get up for Make and Takes.

Lin Brown demoed for us on Sunday....she was repeatedly asked for a demo with versamark and infusions which Ruth Mescall and Kim Dellow have been sharing of late too. Check out my periscope feed for the lowdown.

Leandra's 'Oxide Ink Basics' make and take ran people through 3 new techniques in 20 minutes: minimalist splots, direct to paper reduction, and watercolour prints. It generated a big crowd keen to hear about the properties of this crazy new ink.

We had 6 make and takes to get people hands on with infusions, paints, gelli plates, Oxide Inks, Grunge Paste, Amsterdam Acrylic inks and stencils!

The panel above was developed by a technique from Helen Chilton. Here is a Periscope that Leandra filmed on Sunday where Courtney explains the method...

Raquel joined us on Saturday to share her make and take and to demo on the stand too.

This was her project, I'm handing over to her to take you through the steps.

Hi everyone Raquel here.

I had so much fun teaching the Make and Take at Ally Pally last weekend that I wanted the party to carry on, so for those who missed it and would like to see what was done and how it was done, I'm sharing these pictures and the video, so you can do it (or repeat it) at home. The idea behind this project was creating a couple of covers to bind my technique tags about infusions that I shared with you in my youtube channel under the series "All about Infusions". But since I had 3 stamp sets and 3 stencils I thought, why creating 2 when I can create 3, one for each set? And this is what I got:

I really like my technique tags bound using a ring binder and now with the covers they look even nicer. Of course, if my technique tags were about Infusions, then the covers had to be created with Infusions too and I decided to choose two of my favourite Infusions techniques, the wood panel effect with gold and painting a stamped image with glaze.

In my case the covers I used were cut by me using grey chipboard, but for the Make and Take Mark managed to cut real wood covers from a design I gave him and the measurements were perfect and matched with my tags 100%. What a great quality covers! I hope that they decide to sell them in PaperArsty shop eventually, since these are great! Just have a look at the thickness, I'm still impressed :)

As I mentioned, I decided to use my new stamps and stencils for this project, since I can't move away from them:

For ESC01 and PS049 I did this sample:

For ESC02 and PS050 I did this other sample:

And finally this is the sample for ESC03 and PS051:

Because a video is better than words, have a look yourself on how to make these covers and I'll write below the products that I used to make these (If you still want to read the step outs, visit my blog post):

PRODUCTS:

Thanks very much for reading and watching the video! I hope you decide to try and make your own covers and tags and play around with Infusions to create your own technique tags. My favourite techniques are the wood effect and the paint with glaze! What about yours? Let me know in the comments below.

If you don't know many techniques yet, make sure to watch my playlist "All about Infusions" in my scrapcosy youtube channel

What a great share from Raquel! Keep watching our YouTube feed, there are another couple of demos to share with you that will pop up there in the coming days!
