2016 Topic 22: Alcohol Inks and Pens
Evening everyone, Darcy here with some super quick cards using Promarkers. these are my 'go to' markers whenever I want to colour in, or if i need to colour embellishments to match my project.
Step 1. I scribbled on a non porous surface with my markers. This is a paper palette with a shiny surface and works brilliantly for this technique.
Next add a few drops of Isopropynol until you have rewet the ink and created some nice 'bubbles'
Step 2. Easy peasy, just lay your card down onto the wet ink and let the colour transfer.
When you lift up your card you will have a ready made funky background. Pop this aside to dry while you work on your embellishments.
If you don't want the bubbles and rings then drag your card through the wet ink for a more blended softer background.
Step 3. Now use them in whatever way you choose. I have made 4 small cards. Firstly I trimmed off a little from the front of the card and some from the inky background. then the coloured strip was glued inside the card.
I used Archival ink in Magenta, full strength on the strip inside and tapped off first before stamping onto the front panel. I then ran the Promarker around the edges.
Step 5. Remember that alcohol ink and markers are great for colouring embellishments, including making your own bakers twine. Wrap a ruler with masking tape, then wind your white cotton yarn around, keeping the strands next to each other and not overlapping.
Then simply draw diagonal lines with your markers.
Once dry, unwrap and voila! you have bakers twine that matches your project.
Step 6. To finish my cards I used Seth's dies on book pages and added them to the cards along with some twine.
Using a black pen to outline would have been too bold so I just used a regular pencil.
Step 7. The blue cards also have die cuts added, this time I coloured the die cut with a promarker then added clear gloss WOW embossing powder.
I also coloured more card with a Promarker and then stamped the words from Egg and Nog 1
This time the backgrounds were stamped and then embossed again with WOW embossing powder, this gives them a lovely twinkle.
I hope that has given you some new ideas, or reminders, of how you can use your alcohol ink markers.
Darcy.

ReplyDeleteI laughed when I saw your twine... been there done that! I remember when it was all the rage in the US but so expensive over here... Still a great way to make matching twine without stock all colours under the sun.
