...NEW Stamps from Jo Firth-Young...
Hi Everyone, Leandra here with some amazing new stamps by {Jo Firth-Young}...
Jo has got lots of ideas up her sleeves with these beauties! Umbrella trees and bubble flowers just for starters!
And the new minis (I may have squealed just a little bit)...
I'll hand over now to Jo who will introduce her new products, and share with you a few ideas. Enjoy... and don't forget to leave us your comments!
Oh and if you get your hands on these, you might like to use them in the new blog challenge that starts tomorrow night!!
~ Leandra
Hi everyone, Jo here and I'm really looking forward to showing you the new designs I've created to add to my collection with PaperArtsy.
These designs started off as holiday doodles and I'm really happy that they are now stamps and we can use them on all sorts of projects. I have designed two large stamp sets that can be used on their own (especially the bold juicy flowers on JOFY45) but also have elements that will coordinate and complement previous JOFY stamps sets.
I have also designed 8 new minis (I get asked for minis a lot!) - I really enjoyed designing these - especially my 2 new little doodle peeps (that I affectionately have started calling Dolly and Little Dude)... Each time I stamp them out they make me smile, I hope they do the same for you!
I designed several backgrounds which are going to be really useful in your journalling or card layering, and a REALLY versatile little tag set.
Here are a few little projects I created with the new stamps.
Project One: Happy to be ME canvas
Let's
start with a 5x7" canvas board featuring JOFY45, JM54, Fresco Finish
paints and Infusions...(and the pointy flower on the left hand side is
from JOFY24)
Step 2: Background
I also stamped two long spotty stems (from JoFY45) on either side, painting in the detail with a mix of 2 infusions: A Bit Jaded and The Sage.
This
panel was created by painting the background in Chalk Fresco (my go-to slight off white shade) and I stamped JM54
(in Stone) randomly around the edges. Random but I do tend to keep it straight - I
thought if it was stamped at different angles it would be 'messy' and
confusing/distracting (see picture above).
I also stamped two long spotty stems (from JoFY45) on either side, painting in the detail with a mix of 2 infusions: A Bit Jaded and The Sage.
Step 2: Focal Flower Stamps
I had planned on using this Infusion created panel (same infusion colours as above) as a background for a card for this stamp release but
then I realised it would make great flowers, so I stamped three and cut
them out. I like how the petals are all the same colour, but different at the same time - giving light and shade.
Step 3: Embellishing
OK,
I may be a creature of habit - I like to use tags and book pages and
this project is no exception! But I use them when they are appropriate -
a tag is the perfect base for the new phrase from Jofy45 'Happy to be me'. It's going to be great for journal pages.
... and those little doodled circles in the centre of the flowers - perfect for bling placement!!
Stamping leaves directly onto book pages gives warmth and adds another texture, as does the kraft die-cut frond (which I painted with Pearl Glaze to give a contrast to the mainly
matte finish of the other elements, and the Sisal string seems to give
movement.

Extra Notes: These big flowers will be great as a main feature on a card, or growing up the side of journal pages.
Project Two: Life is good... live it! panel
Step 1: The Background
The simple background was created by painting Mermaid around the edges of board and blending them into Cheesecake in the centre of the board.
The flower stems are also stamped in Cheesecake - this meant that they can be seen on the Mermaid and blend into the Cheesecake on the centre... it also means that they don't clutter further layers.
The next layer was stamping the umbrella (JOFY46) and Miss Long Legs (JOFY42).

Step 2: The flowers
The
lovely flowers were created by stamping JoFY mini 49 (JM49) across the panel
changing the height and angle slightly each time. I drew lines from the
flower to the base of the panel to create stems. The little circle
stems are also from JOFY46.
Colours used are Bougainvillea, Bubble Gum, Chalk, Coral, Tinned Peas, Sage, White Fire.

Project Three: Dolly, Little Dude, the Tags & Flowers
As I mentioned earlier the sketched little characters Dolly & Little Dude make me smile and they make me smile even more when, because they are a simple line drawing, they are doodled around and set in all kinds of situations... I'll be exploring more of that on my blog in the future.. but for the time being here they are used with their accompanying motifs and other JOFY stamps.
Dolly
I painted a small greyboard panel with shades of pink and Coral Fresco Finish, keeping it quite pale.
Stamped
the alphabet strip from Dolly's mini around the edges, and added white
pen detail to the flowers. The panel was then ready for Dolly to be
stamped on and painted.
Little Dude
This
panel is the same size as Dolly's and created in a similar way - the
letter background is JM54 and 'Boys rule!' is part of a stamp from JOFY43. The little dude is of course JM53, and I can see I'll also be using this letter background a lot! There is also a numbers background (JM55) which will equally handy.
The Tags
I
mentioned earlier that I love a tag! These little tags are going to be
so useful - small enough to hang on a card, you can use the images on
the set or how about adding someone's initial or age !? I can see how indispensable JM51 will become as one of my regulars for card embellishments.
The Flowers
Earlier
in this blog post I showed how these flowers can be used as a
background or as feature flowers growing in a garden and now on this
card I'm showing how it can be used in its simplest form - as a border - JM49 stamped repeatedly up the side of a panel and detailed with white pen
to coordinate with the other image.
So there are my new stamps - I hope you like them as much as I do! I really look forward to seeing what you create with them.
If you pop over to my blog you can see a couple of projects I made with the final two minis - JM55 and JM56.
