2016 Topic 11: Our House
Hi everyone Lin from Yoursartfully here. Tonight I'd like to share with you a post on the theme of "Our House" by creating a bit of a mash up of some of my flower stamps and quirky little houses using a masterboard technique with Slick Stix/Distress Crayons and Fresco Finish paint.
When thinking about this current theme, so many ideas were buzzing around in my head but I chose to create a canvas with a mash up of flower and house stamps. I have been working in my garden quite a lot over the last couple of years and flowers tick all my boxes at the moment, be it real flowers, photographs of flowers, line drawings, fabric flowers pretty much any kind really so it seemed a good idea to create some flower houses!!!
Step One: Starting with an a sheet of Heavyweight Smoothy cardstock which had been base coated with Snowflake Fresco Finish paint, I scribbled a selection of Distress Crayons (Slick Stix work brilliantly for this technique too) which I blended with some Snowflake paint to give the crayons a muted look which is very in keeping with some of the opaque colours of Fresco Finish paint.
Step Two: Using a baby wipe, I removed some of the colour through my fern stencil PS006 .It's important to make sure that the baby wipe is not too wet, otherwise the excess liquid will run under the stencil creating a blurred image.
Step Three: Having stamped a selection of background images with Cheescake and Amethyst Fresco paint, I selected areas of the masterboard with a little bit of each colour to stamp my houses ELB13, ELB14 and ELB19.

Step Four: I painted my canvas with a blend of Antarctic and Lake Wanaka and stamped all the background images with Snowflake Fresco. Some time after taking this photograph, I decided to add some script to the background as well as some stencilled images from PS002., you'll see this in some of the later close up shots. My hills are just pieces of
de-laminated cardboard that I base coated with Snowflake and top coated with Hey Pesto.
Step Five: I used one of Ellen Vargo's stamps from EEV02 with Zucchini paint to create the illusion of grass.
Step Six: I cut the roof away from each of the previously stamped houses and replaced them with a selection of my flower stamps from ELB24 and ELB26.

This was such a fun project, Amethyst is not a colour I would normally reach for instinctively but I really like the colour combination, it has such a bright, summery feel about it.
I added some buttons to the edge of the cardboard to define the hills a little, along with the grass stamping, this is one of my favourite parts of the project!!!
Thank you for joining me this evening, I hope you have enjoyed my little "mash up" project and that it inspires you to create some of your own quirky little houses. I would be tickled pink to see what other mash up combinations you guys come up with.

Oh I think there is a special place in all our hearts for buttons. This mashup is so clever, the flowery roofs look great, especially the one that looks like a windmill now. Perfect mashup of topics too, masterboards, houses, flowers and doodly stamps. ~Darcy
