2016 Topic 7: Resists
Hi everyone Emma Godfrey here.
Tonight I'd like to share with you this evening with a post about resists.
Step One: Stamp the dragonflies and flowers from Squiggly Ink Tops and Tails 3, Tops and Tails 6 and Squiggly Mini 09 randomly over a piece of Smoothy using Archival Ink Jet Black. I started with the largest dragonfly and worked down in size, finishing with the tiny flower.
Step Two:
Sprinkle Infusions over the different areas. I used A Bit Jaded over
the open dragonfly, Emerald Isle over the dotty dragonfly, Lemoncello
over the swirly dragonfly and the large flower, and Are You Cerise over
the tiny flower. Spray lightly with water to activate the powder.
Step Three: Blot the piece of Smoothy with some kitchen towel. This softens the colours. Dry thoroughly before the next step.
Step Four: Apply a Versamark ink pad
through The Crafters Workshop Mini Basic Circles stencil, then heat
emboss using WOW Clear Gloss Ultra High embossing powder. Repeat this
step a second time - this will give a much smoother finish to your
windows.
Step Five: Use Cut'n'Dry foam
and Archival Ink Jet Black ink pad to fill in the background. Wipe off
any excess ink from the embossed circles. I like that the ink doesn't
quite hide all of the original stamping.
Step Six: To accentuate the edge of the windows I used an Extra Fine White Sharpie pen to add a dots all around each of them.
I really enjoyed making these cards. I was originally going to colour in the stamped images with paint, but the Infusions were just asking to be played with - and I love the finished effect of using different colours in one project. I was a little disappointed that the colours appeared slightly duller once the two layers of embossing powder have been added. Maybe next time I'll try it with some translucent embossing paste instead?
If you would like to follow me I am on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and have a blog and Facebook business page.
This is gorgeous Emma, love the fun/quirky colourful background using the Infusions and Clear Embossing Powder. The windows look great accentuated with the white highlights. Thanks for sharing your creativity with us. ~Gillian
