2015 Theme 5: Deconstruction
Hello everyone Gillian here with another take on our theme of "Deconstruction". There have been some wonderful interpretations of this theme so far. For tonight's project I have opted to recycle a plain old wooden box using some tissue packaging paper and some corrugated card.
I started out by sanding back a Wooden Domino Box that I had in my stash.
As you can see from the pic above the word "Domino" had a slight embossed effect to it, this was easily erased using a Sanding Block. I then applied several layers of Buff Fresco Paint.
Next, I began stamping images from the new designs JOFY32 and JOFY31 onto tissue paper {that had come in previous packaging} using Jet Black Archival Ink. Once dry I began colouring in the images on the reverse side of the tissue paper using Prawn. In parts of the images to achieve more depth I simply added more layers of Prawn. Once dry I then cut around the images and applied to the box using Matte Medium.
I came across these vintage tag/pennants [also in my box of tricks} which I distressed using Walnut Stain Distress Ink, at this stage I also blocked out previous text using Fresco Finish Acrylic Paint in Buff.
Next I cut a piece of Corrugated packaging to size, this would make the base for these little yummy treats {not that any were eaten in the process you understand}!!
The lid of the box had a raised circle grip {as you can see in pic 1}, this then gave me the idea to punch a hole through using my cropodile and then attach the tag/pennant with twine. Finally I edged the box in Walnut Stain Distress Ink.
Below are some close ups of the finished box.
It has been fun appearing on this side of the blog again, I hope you are inspired to join in our challenge. Thanks for stopping by.
Ohhh yum!! I LOVE those little eggs!! And this is a such a cool box, when they've eaten the eggs, the recipient could use it for makeup brushes, paint brushes...all kinds of things! Love the tag too! ~Leandra (off in search of chocolate)
