Lynne Perrella is just the most wonderful woman; gentle, encouraging, honest and funny, she is an absolute delight to be around. Her creative spirit astonishes me. And her used of colour is so bold and daring. I find everything she creates so inspirational.
Over the Christmas-New Year period Lynne recently exhibited her work at the Chamber of Commerce Gallery, Hudson, New York. If you go here to her website, you can see a slideshow of Lynne's amazing abstract art. Portfolio pastels are a regular colour preference of hers, you can see how she adds colour, removes it, scratches, layers, textures, these are simply stunning creations!
It has been such an utter pleasure and honour for us working with Lynne. She meticulously researches a theme, before she embarks on stamp development and whatever happens, the results are always magnificent.
If you have never worked with a LP stamp, then what are you waiting for? With the addition of colour they come to life in the most extraordinary way. Here's the video showing you Lynne's newest additions to her stunning collection of stamps...

The story behind these designs...Lynne says...
"My desire to work with stained glass came from two impulses --- first of all, I love the history of stained glass, and have a vast collection of books on the subject -- and also I noticed that many of your customers enjoy using strong vivid color when they use my stamps. So, the marriage of color and my "usual" visual vibe seemed to call for a stained glass theme. I hope the designs are very successful for you. It was a pleasure to work on that series. It allowed me to explore some of my favorite themes."
First up with the amazing art samples, it's Julie Ann Lee with some totally fabulous colour combinations and exquisite layers...
Arched Window by Julie Ann Lee using LPC031
Hi everyone, Julie Ann here. I was really excited to see the new Lynne Perrella stamp collections and particularly drawn to the Elizabethan lady on LPC031.
I used Portfolio Pastels, blended and melted with a heat-gun for the central image, while the arched window is stenciled with Frescos and I then created a matching envelope using Frescos with a real tag as a mask, which I outlined in Pitt Pen to create depth.
Through the Church Window by Julie Ann Lee using LPC033
I created a jumbo tag to give the impression of one those long church windows. I used Grunge Paste, Frescos and Treasure Gold to suggest a richly decorated wall behind my Portfolios window.
Medieval City by Julie Ann Lee using LPC033
Finally I played with another image to create this ATC of a fantasy medieval city. For this I blended and heated Portfolio pastels, stamping over the top with Jet Black Archival ink.
Next, here is Alison Bomber who used the new paints perfectly to reflect a realistic stained glass window vibe...
Hi all, Alison here from Words and Pictures. You've already seen the Candle Book I made with the new Lynne Perrella Collection releases in this blog post here, and I was inspired to continue with the stained glass window theme. Without the candle, though, I had to find other ways of playing with light.
Cherish Possibility by Alison Bomber using LPC034
I used all translucent colours to create as much light within the painting as possible. And the new paint colours were absolutely vital to create the stained glass look... Blue Glass (obviously), Southern Skies (from the new JOFY Limited Edition) and Blueberry (maybe my new all-time favourite colour) play a huge part in all my samples (and I'll let you in on the other paint colours I used as we go.
Isn't she beautiful? This may be my favourite Perrella image ever!
The metal pieces have also been altered with the new Blues, and I used some Red Pepper alcohol ink to tint the gems. I also gave the "window" a thick coat of Gloss Glaze to catch the light like glass.
Trust Your Dreams by Alison Bomber using LPC 033
For this jumbo tag, I started by cutting an arched window with a Tim Holtz die, and applying Grunge Paste through a stencil for the brick texture.
I used Stone, Concrete, Little Black Dress and mossy hints of Hyde Park to build up my aged stone colours.
As with all my images, I stamped with Black Archival onto Smoothy paper and clear embossed to try to give the look of leaded windows. I used the fabulous new blues again for this beauty, and for the face, it's a wash of Blush, with tints of colour from Autumn Fire, Claret and London Bus. Her hair is Brown Shed and Autumn Fire. And again I gave the whole thing a good coat of gloss to reflect the light, just like glass.
Creative Soul by Alison Bomber using LPC033 and LPC034
So here's another beauty - same process, stamped on Smoothy paper in Black Archival and clear embossed for the leaded look. And then watery translucent paints blended as I went.
For the reds, I ended up with a combination of Claret, Blood Orange and London Bus, and the greens are my old faithfuls Hey Pesto and Limelight. I had a wonderful time blending the colours, using plenty of water to keep things fluid and glassy and full of light.
She's mounted on a Heavy Greyboard plaque, and I used the Blue Glass, Southern Skies and Blueberry to give a translucent wash to the white side of the plaque (the same combination as I used to create the background paper for the stone church tag above).
I added the window glass strip from LPC033 direct to the board and painted and gloss coated that just like the image.
Let there be light by Alison Bomber using LPC033 and LPC034
As many of you already know, candlelight is important to me in the dark winter days... no surprises then that I had to go for another illuminated project with these amazing stained glass images. I started with a thick coat of clear gesso to give some tooth to my mustard jar. I wish now that I'd used matte medium for a slightly smoother finish - but that will have to wait for next time.
I stamped the images in Black Archival as usual, and clear embossed (wearing my hard plastic science goggles... you never know when heating glass!), before using translucent paints to add the colour.
Again, it's a very different kettle of fish according to whether it's in daylight or with the candle lit. And oh how beautiful it is from the inside!!
Thoughtful, Soulful, Beautiful by Alison Bomber using LPC033
This gorgeous bookmark shaped stamp is perfect for smaller scale creations. Again, I've layered it up with book pages (leftover from cutting out my candle book niche last month!), some of them tea-stained and some not.
I used the last segment of my Blue Glass/Southern Skies/Blueberry-washed sheet of Smoothy paper to create another layer, and added distressed kraft card and a final black frame, like the lead around a window.
As no doubt you can tell, I have had a lovely time using all translucent Fresco paint colours with a glossy topcoat to try to capture that sense of glassy illumination.
I even yielded to some yellow - a combination of Pumpkin Soup and the new Tangerine Twist and Banana from the new Limited Edition Lin Brown set.
Believe Love Create by Alison Bomber using LPC033 and LPC034
I think this trio of "window women" from LPC034 with their book text backgrounds may be my favourites of all (no, maybe the Cherish Possibility woman with the tiny angel in her headdress - too hard to choose!).
Certainly their book page setting influenced how I ended up creating my samples, with the layers of book pages added to the illuminated windows. I didn't want to waste the leftover blues and greens on the craft mat, so I spattered some spare book text to layer up behind the beauties.
I used Heavy Greyboard plaques again, and the stained glass strip from LPC033, painted and glossed to create "glass chips". The idea was to have these bursts of illuminated colour amongst the neutrals, so that they would really zing. The key, stamped in Sepia Archival is also from LPC033.
Alison
Next up we have Helen Chilton...stained glass colours are totally her thing....
Hi everyone, Helen here. As you know I love all the Lynne Perrella stamps and these were no exception. The images follow a stained glass theme and, as usual, are very detailed - that's what I love about them! I haven't added many embellishments as I wanted the stamping to be the main focus.
Alcohol-inked Glass by Helen Chilton using LPC033 and LPC034
Put the stamps from LPC033 and LPC034 down on your desk, rubber stamp design facing up and ink it well with StazOn jet Black ink. StazOn is a solvent ink, designed specifically for use on shiny surfaces. It dries fast as the solvent in the ink evaporates. Lay your acetate on top of the inked stamp. Rub over lightly with your fingers or a brayer. You can see when the image has fully transferred to the acetate.
Turn over and colour the other side of the acetate with alcohol inks using Cut N Dry foam.
Turn back and staple the acetate to silver Mirri card - this really makes it shine. I coloured my staples with the alcohol inks to make them blend in. Embellish and layer up onto coloured card stamped round edge with the border image.
Stained Glass Tiles by Helen Chilton using LPC033 and LPC034
In the next three samples I've used glossy cardstock and coloured in with Distress Markers, using just four colours.
Stamp the images onto glossy card-stock using StazOn black. Again, glossy card is a shiny surface, so a solvent ink like StazOn is the perfect choice. Colour with Distress Markers.
Paint three panels of mount board, one red (London Bus), one blue (Bora Bora) and one yellow (Yellow Submarine). When dry, stamp the the border (taken from the lower edge of one of the stamps on LPC034) all round the edges in black archival ink. Mount your stained glass images on top.
Well, its no surprise that I've really loved using these stamps... and I know you will too!

And finally we have Sue Carrington who comes up with such beautiful ideas...
Like the other designers, stained glass windows were firmly fixed in my mind when I started this tag. It's such a great theme that Lynne Perrella has brought us this time, and I have really enjoyed highlighting the fine detail in her stamp designs.
Trio of keys tag by Sue Carrington using LPC031 and LPC033
First I covered the tag with a piece of book paper which was painted with Gesso. Then I masked off the tag in a patchwork pattern, dabbed Fresco Finish paint on to the tag dried it slightly and then wiped back with a baby wipe. I then defined the different sections with a black Posca pen.
Then I used the little rose border stamp from LPC033 and painted it with Fresco Finish paints, keeping to transulucents so the stamping would still be visible. This beautiful, regal image from LPC031 has been stamped onto Smoothy card which has been painted with Nougat Fresco Finish and then painted, again with translucents to keep the stamping visible.
To finish I stamped the key from LPC031 onto metal three times, cut them out and then slightly defined parts of them to create an embellishment
Regal card by Sue Carrington using LPC031and LPC 033
I've stuck with the patchwork background idea again for this card. The background has been covered with a piece of book paper painted with Gesso. I've then masked off the card and dabbed Fresco Finish paints onto each section, dried it slightly and then wiped back with a baby wipe. I've used the crown from the stamp on LPC031 and stamped it using second generation stamping onto some of the sections.
Then I stamped the little rose border stamp from LPC033 and painted it with translucents to keep the stamping visible. It's been stuck to a piece of ribbon and threaded through a buckle. The main image is stamped onto Smoothy card painted with Nougat Fresco Finish and then painted with translucent paints, again to keep the stamping detail visible.
The key embellishment is from LPC031 and has been stamped onto painted Smoothy card and cut out, then mounted onto black card. I've added a little piece of the rose border to mount it on to.
Tassled wall hanging by Sue Carrington using LPC031 and LPC033
This wall hanging is created on piece of chipboard that I've first of all painted with Beach Hut Fresco Finish. Then I used a stencil with matt medium gel and spread it all over the board. When the glue was dry I then started to layer up different colours of Fresco Finish paint finishing by brayering Snowflake Fresco Finish over the top.
Then I stamped the two main images, one from LPC031 and the other from LPC033, onto Smoothy card painted with Nougat Fresco Finish. I painted them with mainly translucents, though I did manage to use some China Fresco Finish on the stained glass area of the main image.
The vertical panel behind the images have been brayered with Fresco Finish paints and then I've stamped it using the key from LPC033. The bottom layer is a piece of Smoothy card which again I've brayered then stamped with a script stamp. The little image behind the painted flower is from LPC031, I only wanted half of the book so have cut off one side then painted it with translucent Fresco Finish paints.
Tag card by Sue Carrington using LPC031 and LPC033
I started with a jumbo size tag and brayered over it using various Fresco Finish paints and finishing wih a layer of Snowlake Fresco Finish.
I then stencilled over it, grouping the stencilling together. Then I stamped the rose border stamp from LPC033 onto some masking tape that I'd brayered also. This was then stuck to the spine of the card.
The main image is from LPC033 and is stamped onto Smoothy card painted with Nougat Fresco Finish. I then gave the areas around the face a wash with watered down Autumn Fire Fresco Finish. I added some more detailed painting using translucents. The border is made using the stamp from LPC033 and has also had a wash of watered down Autumn Fire Fresco Finish.
The paper flowers have been painted with watered down Autumn Fire Fresco Finish too and I've added a metal flower embellishment to the centre. To finish I've used some dyed seam binding for the bow.
These stamps are just gorgeous to work with. I am sure you will enjoy them too!
